architecture, to me, is the perfect combination of artistic creativity & engineering creativity

Hello, my name is Zoé Stone. I was born in Liege, Belgium, and, after the age of 4, grew up in the wonderful city of Portland, Oregon. I’m an avid outdoors-women, I ski, backpack, climb, and yoga most of my free time away. Last summer I backpacked 140 miles of the John Muir Trail in Southern California and climbed Mt. Whitney, the highest mountain in the lower 48. And this winter I'm taking an avalanche safety class so that I can continue to explore the backcountry on skis. When I'm not outside I can usually be found painting in my studio (aka my garage). 4` KLZPNU PZ OLH]PS` PUÅ\LUJLK I` T` WHZZPVU MVY IL PTTLYZLK PU UH[\YL HUK 0 Z[YP]L [V JYLH[L structures that not only connect the user with the exterior environment through design and the use of local materials, but also that employ strategies that will ensure the well-being of our environment.

COPENHAGEN PARK STRUCTURE

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK CITY PARK STRUCTURE the goal was to create a structure that would reect the city life and culture of copenhagen. by looking at how the city used private and public spaces I created a structure that utililzed the same changes in scale to create a variety of experiances. to start I looked at the use of parks and green space in copenhagen, both on the city scale and the houseing scale.

FIELD STATION

JOHN DAY, OREGON FIELD STATION The goal of this project was to create a ďŹ eld station in eastern oregon that created a space for both an overnight science camp for children and a space for scientists to study the desert and the night sky. In this project I wanted to create a building layout that responded to the hills and surrounding landscape and that connected the inhabitant with the exterior.

ANGEL ISLAND INTERPRETIVE CENTER

SAN FRANSISCO, CALIFORNIA ANGLE ISLAND INTERPRETIVE CENTER The goal of the interpretive center was to create a building that would create interest and inform the public of the events of the angle island immigration center, which served as the main entry point for asain immigrants into the US. I wanted to create a structure that encapsulated the idea of a “prison in paradise which is how the many immigrants that passed through the halls felt about angel island.
