ith his knowledge and experience in writing combined with his lovely wife and her passion of art became the perfect ingredients to create a fun, energetic, intoxicating and entertaining magazine! he only thing left to do was to create a name. A name that would be neutral and flexible, so it could reach different communities, as well for the design and style of the magazine. What could it be? This question was in the air for too long. ne morning the young men slept longer than usually and his wife was already worried that he could be sick. After he finally woke up she checked him immediately. The young man didn’t have a cold or stomachache. He was just tired. ast night he stayed awake until 4:30am, thinking and writing different names for the magazine. His wife was so excided to hear the new names, but there was only one – ZooK! he wanted to know how he thought of ZooK and he said:” First I was thinking about Look, but this name already existed. Then I thought, what about Zoom, but it wouldn’t work for Spanish. And than I combined Look and Zoom to ZooK. Which is neutral and flexible. Everybody can understand. And we have a wide range of design possibilities.” After researching the possible new name of the magazine, the couple found out that zook means hyper and energetic. They saw it as a sign. That must be the perfect name of the magazine – ZooK Magazine!

How to survive in the Desert
!?!
"In the desert there are rules of 3. At worst you survive: 3 minutes without air, 3 hours under the sun, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food." 1. MOVE AT NIGHT Sleep during the day walk in the evening, preferably if available with torch or lantern. Keep in mind to look for civilization signs, sounds and light nearby. Making any type of effort during the day is the fastest way to turn in to a beef jerky. 2. PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN During the day, how can you hide from sunlight? If you are in the desert slopes, enjoy the shadows created by its nature for relief of sun burns. If any cacti or shrub around seek a shadow for protection, in case there is only sand around then dig a hole as big as you can and hide yourself inside without covering your head. A few inches below the surface the soil temperature is below its normal temperature. 3. FORGET ABOUT STRIPTEASE As much as you feel hot, do not be tempted to take your clothes off, your clothes are important to protect yourself from the sun. Unbutton, open and loosen up the outfit that you are wearing so you can be 100% comfortable. Make sure to cover your head with a shirt or piece of cloth. In case you have sunscreen (something common to carry in the desert), use it. 4. KEEP YOURBODY HYDRATED Shortage of water will not prolong your life. Dehydration impairs the ability to think and in this situation, nobody can afford to be stupid. When hunger strike, do not eat: the body uses water in the digestion process as of result is a more rapid dehydration. 5. FIRE IS ESSENTIAL Eyewears lenses (grade or dark) can be used to start a fire, which is essential to keep yourself warm at night when the temperature drops. 6. BE LOUD Send signals, create three campfire and whistles three times as loud as you can. Remember the number 3 is an international code to identify who is in trouble: a lonely campfire could indicate only a group of crazy people making a rave. Don’t forget three fires and three whistles could save your life. By Zooker

Digital Drugs
What are digital drugs? They are music or even sound effects in MP3 format broadcast on the internet and are supposedly able to induce altered states of mind in those who listen. They are called digital drugs because the feeling provoked by them is like of the consumption of marijuana, LSD or opium. They are accompanied by psychedelic images, sounds, abuse of electronic beats and buzzes. The topic has gained impact in 2008 when an American newspaper published an article warning parents about the dangers of these drugs. After that, many people claim to have suffered hallucinations after listening to the songs. However, there is no evidence that suggests that they cause hallucinogenic reactions, since they contain no type of chemical and its effects are not as evident as well.

MING
It is not from today that sounds are used to change people’s consciousness. In primitive societies, the drums and chanting of hymns used to influence the mental state and behavior of people during ritual sacrifices. The repetition of sounds, like the Indian mantras, can lead to a high level of concentration.
TARGET E C I L O P THE Digital drugs have caused a stir in the United States earlier this year after the Bureau of Narcotics of the state of Oklahoma said, “They could lead to the use of real drugs.” Some American schools even banned the use of iPods to prevent students from “getting stoned.”
MELOD Y TRAN Scientists say that the digital drugs are based on beats or binaural tones. The interaction between two slightly detuned sine waves, divided between the left and right ear, seems to stimulate and encourage access to altered states of consciousness, which was discovered in 1839.

The digital drugs cannot be confused with real drugs, which alter consciousness because of the chemical reactions. Only with concentration and training you can go into a trance with music. For example, when you use sounds to meditate?

Tsunami
facts about Tsunami
incredible
1- The planet lost weight The Earth has lost its waist. As we know the earth is slightly flattened. With the huge tremor, the flattening got smaller. Which means that the distance from pole to pole increased and the size of the Ecuador was reduced. But of course the difference was tiny - just under 1 mm.
The tsunami that hit Asia was one of the most devastating disas ters in history. The devastation that caused : whole cities being swallowed, demolishing everything that it reached and killing more people than it was possible to accept. But the consequences of the tsunami was even more profound that what we have thought. Planet Earth felt the permanet consequences of the catastrophe.
2- The time has shrunk Days became shorter - three thousandths of a second shorter. According to Richard Gross of NASA, this was due to the immense mass displacement that happened on the planet when the Indian plate sank beneath Burma plate, which altered the Earth's rotation.
3- Corals escaped On land, the destruction was immense, but, oddly enough, the sea may not have suffered so much. In Sri Lanka, a survey from the International Union for Conservation of Nature shows that, despite the curve ball, coral mortality was lower than that caused by rising sea temperatures in 1988.
4- Elephants heard Everyone has heard the story of elephants that saved tourists. What they did was use a device that nature gave them to save their own skin. Their ability is that they can hear infrasound, which happens to be in the frequencies of sound waves produced by earthquakes.
5- The islands have moved Some Indian Ocean islands have moved up to 20 meters. Teressa Island was said to have been split into two pieces and the Trinkat Island was divided in three by the tsunami. The tip of Sumatra island sank.
6- The sea sank Nobody went there to see it, but it has emerged into the ocean floor an impressive geological fault. It is assumed that the seabed has sunk more than 20 meters in some places. This was caused by the sudden slip of the India plate.
7- The future registered In a million years, geologists that may study the rocks in these locations may find vestiges of bones, shells and stones. This is how scientists reconstruct the tsunamis of the past today. By remains, it is possible to calculate the size and speed of the waves.
8- Scientists were worried The earthquake may have been the first in a series, says seismologist Romanian Vasile Marza of the University of Brasilia. For unknown reasons, earthquakes of magnitude 9 seem to cluster at time. Between 1952 and 1964, there were four of them.
9- The pole moved The North Pole is one of them. Those looking for Santa Claus will now have to travel more than 2.5 cm to the northeast. This is because the imaginary axis around the planet rotates was shaken, leaning slightly.
10- But it could be worse The wave of 12 meters from the Asian tsunami was devastating. But it's nothing close to what reached the Gulf of Mexico 65 million years ago when an asteroid smashed into the Earth, extinguishing 60% of species, including dinosaurs. It is estimated that this tsunami has reached 1 km in height.

INSIDE THE TEENAGE BRAIN: BEHAVIOR, TROUBLESHOOTING AND MAKING DECISIONS
The teenage brain
Goes through important changes in adolescence that makes disappear the fears of childhood, according to a study in mice The scientists used electric shock associated with noise. Activity found reduced in two areas of the mouse brain. Teens: 1 The hippocampus Memory, learning and emotion. any parents can’t understand why their teenagers sometimes behave irrational, impulsive and dangerous. Sometimes, it seems they don’t think through, or they don’t see the consequences of their actions. The teens are different from adults in how they behave, solve problems and make decisions. Studies have shown that the brain continues to mature and develop during childhood, adolescence and into early adult age. Scientists have found a specific region of the brain called the Amygdale, which is responsible for the instinctive actions including fear and aggressive behavior. This region develops early. However, the frontal cortex, the area of the brain that controls, reasoning and help us think before we act, takes place later. This part of the brain is changing and maturing well into middle age. Other specific changes in the brain during adolescence include a rapid increase in connections in the brain cells and power of the pathways of the brain. Nerve cells develop myelin, an insulator layer that help cells communicate. This changes are very important for the coordinate development of the though, action and behavior. Pictures of the brain in action shows that the brain changes occur in teens differently from those adults, when they make decisions and solve problems. Their actions are guided more by the Amygdale and less in the frontal cortex. Research has shown that exposure to drugs and alcohol before birth , head trauma or other brain injuries can interfere with normal development brain during adolescence.

brain
Play an important role in recognition of emotions and perception of fear. Study conducted by researchers at the Universities of Cornell and Brown and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of New York
According to how the brain develops the adolescences are prone to: • Acting impulsively; • Misread or isinterpret social and emotional cues; • Engage in all kinds of accidents; • Engage in fights; • Participate in dangerous and risky behavior;
Adolescences are not prone to: • Think before act; • Think of the consequences of their actions; • Change their behavior; These differences in the brain don’t mean that young people can’t make decisions or tell the difference between right and wrong.
This can help parents, teachers and lawyers to understand the behavior of the adolescence.

What is a
Podiatrist ? By Dr. Mel J. Colon, CEO and Medical Director International Medical Clinics Podiatric Medicine is the specialty of medical sciences which deals with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of foot and leg disorders by medical and surgical means. The Doctor of Podiatric Medicine, or podiatric physician, is the medical specialist responsible for the care of the foot, ankle and leg. It takes eight years of higher education to become a podiatric physician. After college, podiatric medical school is four years in length. Afterwards, podiatric physicians continue their training through post-graduate course work and residency training in reconstructive surgery of the foot, ankle and lower leg. Ailments of the feet afflict a majority of the US population, and some sources place the figure as high as 70 percent. Podiatrists treat the foot and leg medically and surgically. Nearly one-fifth of all podiatric medical visits involve surgical procedures, involving bones, muscles, tendons or joints skin and nails. Probably the most frequent surgical procedures in podiatric medicine correct hammer toes, prevent recurrence of corns, repair bunions, remove warts, and permanently fix ingrown nails. Actually most problems can be helped without surgery. Even though many people are fearful or embarrassed to see a foot doctor, podiatrists have devised methods of treatment that are often not painful at all. P o diatrists nor-

mally have x-ray, laboratory, out-patient facilities in their offices to best serve their patients. Podiatrists treat such a wide range of problems: heel pain, ingrown toenails, bunions, calluses, flatfeet, hammertoes, diabetic foot problems, arch pain, neuromas, plantar warts, thick fungal toenails, foot and ankle fractures and sprains, sports injuries, infections, tumors, cysts, sweaty feet and foot odor, cold feet, burning, numbness and tingling, and arthritis. As the foundation of your body, the foot is a structural wonder of the human body. The foot has 26 bones, 33 joints, 107 ligaments, 19 muscles, and tendons hold the structure together and allow it to move in a variety of ways. The foot is called upon to carry, balance and support the entire human body. Women have about four times as many foot problems as men; lifelong patterns of wearing high heels often are the problem but many foot problems are actually inherited. The average person walks 115,000 miles in a lifetime -- more than four times the circumference of the globe. Although common, the effects of poor foot health cannot be minimized. Any disease or disorder of the foot which results in pain and, therefore, disability, will create serious problems for the individual. Painful foot, ankle and leg problems can prevent people from the ability to make a living, enjoy sports, go shopping or play with their kids. For the child, a painful foot condition, injury or congenital abnormality not properly treated can result in inattention, loss of time from school, decreased participation in sports and other activities which are important to normal development, and can also result in more serious health problems later in life. For the elderly, untreated foot problems can interfere with taking care of personal needs, obtaining essential exercise and hinder participation in other aspects of daily life, leading to increased dependency on others. For the diabetic, many of the complications associated with diabetes, such as foot infection and ulcers, gangrene and amputations, can be avoided with proper foot care and exercise. In addition, certain foot problems can be early signs or symptoms of such serious general health disorders as diabetes, arthritis, thyroid disease, heart disease, kidney ailments and arteriosclerosis. The podiatric physician consults with other medical specialists in treating those diseases affecting the whole patient. Good foot care is of vital importance to everyone. Podiatric physicians, working as part of the health care team, can help ensure an active, independent and healthy life. Does the foot get the attention and respect it deserves? Absolutely not!! The foot, no contest, is the most neglected, ignored, misunderstood, misdiagnosed and improperly treated part of the human body by the public as well as by the medical profession as a whole. However, it is so very true that "when your feet hurt, you hurt all over"!

Hippies
How did the hippies live?
T
he thing was to be against the "system" - the white middle-class society that preached the attachment to material possessions. Based on the principles of nonviolence and cooperation, the hippies used to live in more traditional groups. The center of the movement took place in the city of San Francisco, California. Around that time, the hippies rented big old houses, where they lived with up to 30 people. They really lived by the motto "sex, drugs and rock'n roll" and contrary to popular beliefs, they also worked and had normal hygiene habits. The term "hippie" comes from American slang "hip," which means "cool, hip" and was used by the Beats (intellectual rebels of the 1950s), to indicate good stuff. Being influenced by this movement, teachers and students from universities in California founded the hippie movement in the early
1960s. Fighting the Vietnam War (1954-1975) and the convening mandatory, their pacifist ideals spread throughout the Western world and were instrumental in the development of so-called counterculture - a form of expression that fought the values of capitalism. The big part of the movement was the music. Rockers like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and the Beatles joined the "peace and love" and the psychedelic experimentalism in their lyrics and sounds. With the end of the Vietnam War in 1975, the movement went through demobilization - after all, the great engine of violent union was over. If the "alternative society" were dismantled in San Francisco, hippies ideals influenced other groups that emerged in the 1980s and 1990s, such as environmental movements, indigenous and women rights.

Despite the long hair and unkempt, the hippies were not "pigs." Bathing once daily was the most common. They were just not in favor of deodorants or perfumes, which are considered luxury items of the consumer society.

They rejected industrialized foods instead they preferred fruits, vegetables and natural juices. Rural communities grew their own food. What was left was sold at cost to other hippies.

Religion
ZooK God
Is God only in your head? With the help of CT scans, Dr. Andrew Newberg research the mysteries of religious expression in the brain. Science could not prove the existence or nonexistence of God. But one thing that makes it clear is that rational knowledge increasingly explains: religion is good for your health. The reason? For the American doctor Andrew Newberg, author of "Why God Will not Go Away", the answer lies in the neurological architecture of our brains. According to him, “the most developed human organ is specially calibrated for spiritual experience.” Analyzing images captured by scanners, Newberg researches how the prayer and meditation are manifes-
ted in the brain. He mentions that, “ neuroscience can explain mystical experiences and believes that the concept of God is fundamental to human survival.” In addition to specializing in the neurophysiology of religious experience, Andrew argues that courses of theology and principles of religion are mandatory for health professionals. He said a doctor will have more chances to win the confidence of a patient, and therefore be successful in a treatment, if they are familiar with their beliefs.
Is there any specific part of the brain that is responsible for religious experience?
Science will face great difficulty in definitively demonstrate the existence or nonexistence of God. If I scan the brain of someone looking for a dog, the image will show what happens when you see a dog, but does not prove the existence of the animal. Likewise, if a nun is experiencing God's presence, the CT scan will not show if God is with the nun, but just what happens in her brain.
Not exactly. Our research suggests that religious experiences are complex. Involving emotion, and cognition that is distributed in various structures which are linked to the frontal lobe, the part of the brain that determines our will; the region of the parietal lobe, which controls our sense of self; the limbic system, which plays a key role in emotions; and finally to the hypothalamus, which is also responsible for emotional reactions. And how the body feels the effects of this experience? The results suggest changes in hormonal, autonomic nervous and immune systems, decreasing heart rate, blood pressure and stress. A large number of studies indicate that religiosity leads to healthy benefits. Is religion or spiritual practice distinguished by the health benefits of mind and body? There is one that stands in relation to others. There are evidence that people who pray are associated with staff reduction of muscle tension and lower incidence of coronary heart disease. Individuals who meditate have reduced anxiety, depression and irritability, and improved in learning ability, memory and emotional stability. There is also evidence that meditation can relieve chronic pain. In one study, 77 people suffering from fibromyalgia have undergone an anti-stress program for 10 weeks that used meditation techniques. All showed improvement in symptoms. Sick people with strong religious faith are more likely to be cured? The only thing we can say from the studies is that there is a relationship between religiosity and health. But there is little evidence of specific cures associated with religious beliefs. The many studies show that religion is a strong ally in recovering from surgery. A survey of a group of patients that had heart surgery showed that the incidence of deaths during the recovery period was greater among those who did not practice any faith. Yet another study with a group of women with breast cancer showed that those who did not belong to any religion tended to live less. The evidence that religious experiences are the result of brain activity may suggest that God exists only in our head?
How to know, if it was God who created the brain or if our brain that creates God? There is a clear way to determine this. You could say that the human brain has two basic functions to be considered under the biological and evolutionary perspectives: self-preservation and self-transcendence. The brain performs these functions throughout our life. It turns out that religion also plays these same functions. That is, faith is an excellent tool that helps the brain to perform its primary functions. Does this mean that experience with God has helped us along the evolutionary process? The function of self-preservation is the survival of the individual, and consequently the species. To keep us alive, the brain keeps us from the dangers in approaching food and indicates the need for mating. Religion also has important functions in this sense: it promotes sustainable patterns of behavior and helps develop and maintain family-oriented societies and our protection. Transcendence is our inherent need to move from one stage to another. We do this all the time. Every moment we become a little different from what used to be. And religion is the ultimate expression of self-transcendence. Some admit that we do still alive, others require death. Either way, religion helps us transcend into the ultimate encounter with God or any supreme reality. You can argue that health professionals also study theology and religion. It took us centuries to separate medicine from religion. Back to integrate the two areas would not be a setback? I think that religion was never be completely separated from medicine. And recently, there has been a growth in awareness that the spiritual side of the individual has an important impact on the medical approach. The health and well being of a patient depend strongly on the physician's ability to deal with their faith and piety, and not just with its clinic. The two aspects are interrelated.

Animals in
Love?
FAITHFUL, HANDLES AND LIBERALS
Meet some types of relationships, "love" between animals.
NOBODY BELONGS TO ANYBODY Bonobos, or pygmy chimpanzees- resolves everything on the basis of sex. A dispute over female, territory, and food ends up in orgy sessions. It is common to see them exchanging intense kisses. This mean male with male, female with female, without prejudice ...
HEAD OF THE HOUSE Among the partridges, the one that ends up in Idleness is the female. They mate with several males to increase their reproductive potential. After insertion of the eggs, the females goes looking for new partners while the male takes care of their babies.
NO MERCY Lions live with several females and cubs. If another Lion debunks the dominant male gets the female lions and kill the cubs. It is the females only returning to breed after they stop breastfeeding to avoid death of the pups, some relate to several Lionesses lions. Page 16 | ZooK Magazine
There are no scientific studies that prove feelings among animals. The theme, however, divides opinion. "Animals do not fall in love, what they do is a selection of features in search of reproduction and protection of offspring," says ethologist - a student of animal behavior - JosĂŠ Sabino, the Uniderp. On the other hand, the anthropologist Helen Fisher, in her book "Why We Love", says there is a chemical in the animal attraction that would be the precursor of human romantic love. According to her the mammal - including human - and birds have two natural stimulants of the brain, dopamine and norepinephrine, which play an essential role in sexual arousal. It may not be passion, but one thing is fact: they have preferences and use various tricks to win the sexual partner and drives competitors away.
NOT EVEN DEATH DO US PART Some species seem to continue mourning for their partner. A few years ago in Sao Paulo’s Zoo, one of the male snow leopards died and the female leopard spent months calling her partner as if he was still alive.
ONE IS NOT ENOUGH, TWO IS NOT ENOUGH... Among the hippos, the male mates with up to 30 females. He defends their territory, and the mothers of their offspring in bloody battles with rivals. The hummingbird-scissors also mates with several - they are the ones who build the nest and feed the young.
NATURAL MARRIAGE About 90% of the birds have only one partner. Some tame parrots, however, may elect up to the dog and the owner of the house as companion (no sex, of course). There are also animal homosexual couples who keeps the same partner for life.

How to succeed with
WOMEN
Men
Lonely nights end today. Are you tired of only being“a friend”or“best friend” of all the women you know? Are you ready to be a lover or boyfriend?
Discover the art of flirting. Read some useful tips how to flirt with a woman you already know or with a woman you met for the first time. Try it on your next flirt and learn more.
Find out what women really want and understand the other gender better. You will know how to go from a conversation, to flirting and finally to the first kiss.
12 TIPS FOR HiM 1 2 3 4 5 6
Always show respect to every woman. Do not exceed limits! You have to respect “no” as an answer.
It is important to act. Feel like you have to take the first step.
Simply use everyday situations (cafeteria, coffee shop, gym, library, book store, etc.) to flirt. You may find the woman of your dreams at the least expected place.
Enter in magazines or at the Internet your contact ad. Try to show your personality and describe yourself physically without exaggeration.
Concentrate on small goals—to get a phone number, a cup of coffee, or just a smile and positive reaction to break the ice which could lead to something more.
Do not pretend to be somebody or something that you are not. Be yourself, but show your best side at all times.
7 8 9 10 11 12
Be a gentleman! Open doors for her, give her your jacket when she is cold, or tell her how beautiful she looks today. Women like to feel special and cherished.
You have gotten a first date. Now, what should you talk about? Show genuine interest in her life. Always ask her for more details and be sure to listen. Talk about yourself last. Make her feel important. What not to do on your first date: Talk about past relationships, drink too much, talk to others on the phone or neglect to give her attention. You have to give her all of your attention and listen carefully. A great personality is what women look for. If you can make her laugh by telling jokes, being a little cheeky, or teasing her, you will have better chances on the date with her.
Even if your personality is more important than your looks, it is necessary to take care of yourself and be well groomed so you look good. Get a new haircut, clean up, dress well and be appropriate.
After you have had a nice first date you would like to take the next step and kiss her, but are not sure if she is ready for the same thing. If you feel the time is right and she appears to feel the same as you, it is probably right to kiss her.
