SongWriting Lessons AS EASY AS STRUMMING CHORDS!!

Dispel the beliefs that weakens your inner strengths:    

I can’t sing I don’t know enough chords I can’t play an instrument well enough I don’t know enough about music theory (post a video with chords that “don’t make sense and a melody) I need to understand how things work first My ear isn’t good enough.

Every Single belief listed has a way to deal with it.

There’s nothing really great ever came from the critical, judgmental voice that kills inspiration and creativity. No one cares that the song you just wrote isn’t going to solve worldpeace, or isn’t at the same level like “Bohemian Rhapsody”?

You’re not trying to compete with anything or anyone. You’re not writing a song to prove anything. Writing a song is as easy as strumming chords and singing melody lines on top of the chords. The best way to get really good at writing songs, is writing tons of songs.

There is no substitute and there are no shortcuts.

Speed up the process to becoming a better songwriter, by letting go of the voice in your head, and just letting the songs come to you.

Know what’s the key to Song:

The first chord Songs almost always start with the first chord of the scale the song is written with. If a song is in the key of G, the first chord is almost always a G chord

The last chord Songs almost always end with the first chord of the scale the song is written with.

The key signature. When you are learning a song from a book or chart, the key signature at the beginning of the staff tells you what scale the song is written with.

The Chord progression. The chords in a progression are derived from a scale. Chords are just notes of a scale that you group together into a chord shape. You then hit all these notes in that chord shape all simultaneously.

The notes in your vocal melody. When you are writing a song and you have a melody that comes to you, figure out on your guitar what the notes are that you just sang. Then based on that info, figure out what the scale is.

The key (center). Every song has a key center: a “gravitational note that supports the whole song and which whole song is centered around.

It is that one note you can sing throughout the whole song and it never clashes anywhere (unless of course the song modulates to a different key during the song)
