CONSTANT TENSION WINCHES NDM delivers a range of constant tension (CT) winches. Constant Tension (CT) is used to achieve a constant line-pull set by the Operator. The line-pull is either preset by the operator or measured by a load cell (if load cells are equipped) and monitored by the control system. If the actual value differs from the preset value the winch will pay in or pay out wire rope to maintain the preset value. Instant adjustment of the wire tension is possible by changing the tension setpoint value. CT prevents the loads to bounce on the deck. Winches are supplied with a constant tension facility to provide safe operation where loads may exceed a given criteria. On hydraulic winches an external relief valve is set to provide a predetermined load. The winch will stall if the load is increased and will even pay-out if the load increases even more. When the load reduces to below the relief valve setting the winch will continue to haul. On electrical winches, the CT is preset directly in the frequency inverter. Our CT winches are normally delivered with a pull from 5-40 T but other models can be delivered.
We also supply CT winches for lifting purposes. These winches are delivered according to DNV Lifting Appliances and are more powerfull than our “standard” CT winch models. CT lifting winches are supplied to clients where AHC (active heave compensation) is not required.

Motors The workhorse of our AHT winches is the radial piston hydraulic motor. This motor has up to 98 % volumetric efficiency under ideal operating conditions and has a proven track record under tough conditions both in heavy land-based industry and offshore industry.. The motors are fitted with custom made load holding manifolds which have several functions:
This is very useful with a light load or to rapidly raise an unloaded winch line from the seabed. When used in this manner, the motors active in different steps are changed automatically to evenly distribute utilization and wear of all components. The gearing is fail-safe and does not allow activation if the actual load is too high for the requested gear step.
• The manifolds will close the lift side if the pressure drop on
the lowering side reaches a level where cavitation could occur. • This both protects the motors against the risk of cavitation and provides load holding functionality by ensuring the load is held if a pipe is ruptured. • The manifolds are additionally equipped with a free-wheeling function that allows the motor to rotate at high rpms without any torque being transferred. • The manifold also provides pressure relief functionality and boosts pressure on the inlet side.
Safety Safety is a key issue. The hydraulic system has numerous safety and redundancy features, with critical functions backed up by battery power and/or hydraulic accumulators. All critical functions are hardwired to work even if the control system for some reason is inoperable.
Main control valve The motors are controlled by a highly responsive proportional valve. This enables very fast and precise operator control over the hydraulic fluid flow and pressure acting on the motors. Gear steps The free-wheeling function can be employed to enable different gear steps. By disengaging one or several motors, the entire flow from the HPU can be allocated to fewer motors to produce higher rotational speeds. 23

FLEXIBLE SOLUTION
SECURING CARGO ON BOTH SIDES OF VESSEL
Each securing carrier can be placed anywhere along the sliding rails. The carrier is connected to the rail simply by turning a handle. Pulling direction of a slide depends entirely on which way it is placed on the rail.
By using multiple sliding securing carriers on each sliding line, cargo can be secured on both sides of the vessel.
SE
SE
The pulling faces of the slides are interchangeable to ease pulling and securing of different types of cargo, such as containers, pipes etc.
SAFE SECURING DURING TRANSPORT
CYLINDER OPERATED
The securing carriers are individually secured to the rail by turning a locking handle on each slide, to prevent the cargo from moving during transit. Once the slide is secured, it is released from the pulling system and other cargo can be pulled and secured using the same sliding line.
The system is operated by hydraulic cylinders. This ensures low maintenance costs and smooth operation. Each line is fitted with two hydraulic cylinders (one port and one stb. side). Each of them is used for pulling the securing carriers for pushing cargo on deck.
COMPLETE DELIVERY
Each line consists of: • One (1) off complete sliding line (to be welded directly onto cargo deck on vessel). Two (2) off hydraulic cylinders are delivered as an integrated part of the sliding line. • Two (2) off securing carriers (one for each direction). Multiple securing slides for each sliding line can be delivered.
The system is delivered as a complete package. HPU can be delivered as an option if this is not available on the vessel. For the CSS, no yard supply required. A “standard” delivery will consist of 7–11 CSS lines.

ONBOARD SLIPWAYS / LARS NDM has developed innovative onboard slipways for safe docking of small craft such as rescue boats, rigid hull boats and unmanned surface vehicles onboard offshore and naval vessels at sea. Our slipways provide a complete system for the stowage, launch and recovery of small craft up to 12 m lengths, but we can also deliver tailor made solutions for larger craft according to our client`s requests.
A major advantage with our system is that we can tailor the design of the slipway cradles and wheelsets to accommodate existing fleets and small craft designs without causing damage to the hulls. We can even configure a custom system with several degrees of adjustability to accommodate a range of small craft hull configurations on a single slipway.
The slipways are installed aft on the vessels and can be designed to be mounted on a hydraulic controlled frame (with hydraulic cylinders for lifting of the complete frame) or built directly into the structure of the vessel. Wheelsets for cradling the small craft can be delivered with or without hydraulic drives to power recovery onto the slipways. Launch of the vessels can safely be accomplished with hydraulic power and/or gravity assist. The model shows a double slipway designed and delivered for a naval vessel

WINCH REMOTE CONTROL SYSTEMS We are able to meet all your requirements from standard radio/remote controls and on to more advanced systems installed on bridge. With large and complex winches installed our clients rely on a control system which makes sure that high loads can be handled in high speeds with high pull without danger for either the crew or the vessel. All our equipment is always designed with safety features as our main priority and our control systems ensures that these features are easy to operate. For smaller winches, we normally supply either portable or radio remote control units. Theese allows the operators to operate mooring or tugger winches from different locations on deck. By use of remote controls, the operator will gain better control of the operation and ensures that safety is improved at a higher level. For our largest and most advanced winches, we deliver complete bridge (wheelhouse) installed control systems. These systems are tailor made to control the winches in complex operations, ensuring safe and accurate operations.
38
The bridge remote control systems are typically used for: • Anchor handling/towing winches • Secondary winches • Active heave compensated winches • 4, 8, 12 & 16-point mooring systems All bridge installed control systems are designed for constant monitoring of the winch systems. Safety is main priority and design ensures that alarms are given even if a fail occurs. All critical functions are hardwired to avoid dangerous situations. Quick release and emergency release are always available. Data recording systems can be supplied with our bridge control systems. All winchdata are constantly recorded and stored in files. This gives easy access to historical data and enables the operators to analyze previous recordings or monitor how a situation develops.

CONSTANT TENSION WINCHES
NDM deliver a range of constant tension (CT) winches. On hydraulic winches an external relief valve is set to provide a pre-determined load. The winch will stall if the load is increased and will even pay-out if the load increases even more. When the load reduces to below the relief valve setting the winch will continue to haul. On electrical winches, the CT is preset directly in the frequency inverter.
FEATURES Drive: Hydraulic Configuration: Single drum Rated pull: 5–40 T (standard configuration) Drum capacity: According to client’s request Spooling device: According to client’s request Control: Local and/or radio remote control

Gantry Riser Crane designed for Cameron
GANTRY RISER CRANES NDM supply riser gantry cranes for horizontally stored risers. Being significantly larger, more complex and heavier than drill pipes, riser handling requires dedicated equipment and knowledge. The prime function of the crane is to move the riser from its storage position and place it on the catwalk machine (and vica versa). Safe riser handling requires rigidly mounted “hooks” which are raised and lowered on stiff masts within the crane’s leg structure. The “hook” enters each end of the riser and lifts it.

DRY BULK BOOSTER The range and discharge capacity of dry bulk plants, are limited by the tolerances of the pressure vessels. When dry bulk capacity is needed on a new location, it has therefore been necessary to establish a new dry bulk plant to serve this location. This is both a costly and space consuming investment, and also increases the necessary stockpile of dry bulk products. The Dry Bulk Booster from NDM is an effective solution to these challenges. It extends the existing dry bulk capacity, and opens up new locations without additional manpower or stockpile needs.
With its two chambers, the Dry Bulk Booster supplies a continuous flow of product from the tank park to the receiver. The design pressure of the chambers can be adapted according to the requirements of individual project.
54
Our patented dust cleaning technology is intergraded in the Dry Bulk Booster. This ensures continuous cleaning of the ventilation air, and automatically transfers the collected material back into the chambers. There is therefore no loss of product during transportation.
SE SE
DUST CLEANING PLANT The Dust Cleaning Plant removes waste from the ventilation air, with high efficiency and little maintenance. It provides security towards spillage, and recycles all collected material. Cement, Barite and Bentonite are essential substances in off-shore exploration and drilling, and are used in large quantities. Waste logs from Statoil show that there is a measured waste of 6% of these bulk materials in the transport from tank farm to supply vessel and from supply vessel to rig. The main source of this waste is through the bulk handling operations, where dust particles follow the vent air out of the system. This has become a growing concern for the stakeholders in drilling and exploration activities, both because of environmental issues and financial loss through waste. NDM has addressed this issue through our patented DUST CLEANING PLANT, which cleans the vent air with a 99,9% effectiveness and recycles the dust into the tank park. Measurements done by SINTEF show that vent air that is treated with our system only contains only 0,032% of the transported mass.

CONTAINER & PALLET HANDLING SYSTEM – CPHS NDM has developed a fully automated system for handling containers and pallets onboard windmill service/maintenance vessels. The system has been developed in order to meet the requirements from the growing offshore windmill service/maintenance segment. Our system consist of a travelling crane mounted in the container storage room. The crane is equipped with a container yoke for handling 20” containers which can be lifted and moved around in order to have a safe and effective storage. Besides the container yoke, the crane is also equipped with a pallet fork. This pallet fork has a rated capacity of 700 kg and enables the operator to pick pallets from the storage containers and move them to the designated area for transport up to deck.
Primary control for the CPHS is by a radio remote control but the system is also equipped with a secondary control panel (in case of failure on the radio remote control unit). The CPHS includes a lift system for transportation of pallets from the storage area up to deck. The pallet fork on the CPHS moves the pallets to the lift area and the pallets is then lifted up to deck. The lift is of “personell & goods” type, designed for use in “safe area”. Rated load on the lift is 1.000 kg/13 persons and according to “DNV rules for certifications of lifts”.
The rails and transverse beams lengths can easily be adapted to different vessel designs.
