URBALLON

basics of architecture

Városmajor 2012 tutors: Dobos András, Kőszeghy Flóra The aim of the project is treating a park as the part of Budapest, connecting it to the circulation of the city, since it’s not really utilised out of two main paths. Thats why I decided to design a networtk of solar balloon cable-lines, guiding walkers to hidden corners, while bringing houmour and after sunset, light to the park. It works as a game and a mobile landmark as well. The balloons are also representing the memory of Városmajor as a frequented fun fair in the early 1900s. 8

HILL-HOUSE

residental design 2

Budapest, IIIth district 2012 tutors: Jancsรณ Miklรณs, Villรกnyi Norbert

10

Family house design for a plot, situated in the outskirts of Budapest, single-built area. Although the surface is sloping, it is butressed and banked up, like a podium. I had to choose whether to use the platform or destroy it. My decision was to use the advantages of the actual position. The hill flows across the house, providing intimacy as well as a sophisticated visual and phisical relation between family and garden. As for the layout, the main aim was to provide the recommended lightning of each function. Two main masses compose the form. The living room forms a bridge between public zone and the less opened private wing. Choice of materials, structures as green roof and bevalved masonry are providing low energy consumption.

LIBRARY

public building design

village center of pilisborosjenő 2013 tutors: Karácsony Tamás, László Tamás The environment is a traditional, frontal street line village in the mountains. The plot is situated in the center. Library, library for children, auditorium, multimedia, and silent zone have to compose the new building while the entrance of the kindergarten behind has to be provided from the street directly.

14

That’s why I deciced to divide the building into functional sections, while the the concrete mass cuts the plot into two different quality public gardens. The exposed concrete surface covers a pure white, hardwood flored interior.

LANOVKA

dept design 6th semester

city-river relation by spectation 2014 team: Kupi Benedek, Vági Péter, Z. Szabó Márton tutors: Marosi Bálint, Sugár Péter, Benczúr László, Kemes Balázs The aim was to revitalise the Pest side bank of Danube in the centre of Budapest, and to invent new possibilities for city-river relation. Our idea for getting closer is a lanovka between the close-knit line of houses and Mount St. Gellért on the opposite. We create a contact based on calm spectation. The sensation of the city cut by the river is provided by only one bus, moving slowly between the ends. The departure is in place of a narrow, injured building, only a staircase, without additive functions. At Pest the stair touches the neighbouring walls, while on the hill the line arrives to a cave with glass cube entrance in order to hurt the surface the least. © Vági Péter

csángó street prefab housing estate budapest 2035 2015 team: Ostoróczky Nóra tutors: Benkő Melinda, Herczeg László

22

The traditionally mixed use area (military, industrial, residential) has great connecton to city center, railroads and the green belt of the Danube. The idea of sustainable neighbourhood is based on a unit, formed by chraracteristic public spaces, everyday community and commercial services . These attractions require space in the ground floor, changing the use of originally monofunctional blocks of flats. The estate needs to be served with different flat types. Our first step is to upgrade the existing ten storey buildings by extension on the facade, opening the ground floor. The next is to build new housing - as a barrier facing to the high traffic as with lower hight to the middle of the area - with flat sizes 3090 squaremeters, offering community gathering and cultural spaces on ground.

complex design

town square with music school and auditorium 2016 tutor: Karácsony Tamás DLA

Chapel, Church, stream, neighbor, panels, stone wall, St. Stephen Square, alleys. The plan is for a school built at the beginning of the 1800’s years. The L-shaped building with arcade is to be transformed to library and music hall. The Church dominated axis extends towards the barely undefined space with the baroque chapel. Now paths are cutting into pieces, citizens are timid to use the lawn even at feasts, they all put their chairs on the pavement. For spatial integration, at first, the bastioned wall has to be opened providing pedestrial acces to the five-storey housing estate. By the bridge a new music school would define the contour related to music hall.

[openings&flow]

The continuity of context is the remaining contour, respected height, turning refuse limestone from demolition into terrazzo floor. Between past and new structure, the old building’s arched basement as a research room is to connect. Restoring the old part and constructing the contemporary music hall, use of suitable materials is privileged. As the two functions and character is converging, the spaces have to serve everyday operation. The encounter of different planes by stairs as well as the old porch turns into a ramp. Nevertheless the closure of the borders, emphasizes the focus on the ‘doors’ from the basement to the top. The timber structure realated to barn-analogy is the only state. Simple appearance for wood, as covering ground as in the upper region, lowering the ceilings creates atmosphere over the solid underground base.

The area is one of the first community gardens inBudapest, in the 9th district. After checking the conditions in the garden, participating the sessions of the community, we decided to work with the Norton pump. We designed and implemented the concrete basin with a side step for more comfortable use. Since they use the garden not only for growing vegetable, but as a leisure place too, the new pool can also amuse children with its labyrinth.

The life rescue stand as it is, slightly defines a point of the shore. In wintertime, the beach forms the border of seasonal bipolarization: the withdrowal to the bright, healing center, while fishermen’s shacks appear in the middle of the great lake for ice fishing. SMOKED - as each stand - gives the rise to form a gathering point for fishers and walkers of the beach. Reviving the tradition of smoking fish, the wooden flue around the framework providig the occasinon for encounters.

SMOKED - as each stand - gives the rise to form a gathering point for fishers and walkers of the beach. Reviving the tradition of smoking fish, the wooden flue around the framework providig the occasinon for encounters. The applied body consists of local beech boards, burnt to colour and conserve, decked around the steelcase, without any modification. We hang the chimney on the existing rings, while we strengthen the side plankings and the door by screwn twin rods. Inside, like the ladder, ther are three frames to hang the fish. With the simplicity of technique, and use of material the wooden partition refers to the ice fishing shacks’ timeless architecture, indicating waterfront gatherings.
