Historycial Buildings

Historic buildings Protecting buildings Residential buildings

Resdiential Buildings

We have no place to have a rest.

The level 2 interface has problems such as the dilapidated appearance of the house and illegal additions and alterations, resulting in damage to the appearance of the interface.

I never have a chance to interact with my neighbor on the other side

The level 2 interface occupied by tricycle and car parking, poor condition of facilities and lack of public space.

The neighbours are separated by a wall and have no way of communicating with each other.

The level 1 interface is the most used by residents, but is often occupied by a variety of non-motorised vehicles and stalls.

White Pagoda Temple Area is a traditional building area surrounded by high-rise buildings, with only a ltle low-rise modem architecture. The tallest building in the district is the White Pagoda, 51 meters high, making him vitually visible among the surrounding residents. There are perfect living facilities, such as cultural relics, schools, hospitals, cultural buildings and commercial buildings.

GENERATION PROCESS

LEVEL 2

The original first floor functions are moved to the second floor, while additional functions are added for people to generate stories here.

The original building's exterior walls were closed off, blocking the opportunity for residents and visitors to interact with the Lu Xun Museum.

The ground floor interface is first opened up into an open space directly connected to the outside space, thus attracting people to stay here.

N

The final is the addition of structures and traditional architectural elements to decorate the building.

The open space on the first floor breaks up the overly closed state of interface two, allowing the first floor to attract visitors to the Luxun Museum and to redirect the vehicles and stalls that occupy the street, thus solving the problem of street congestion.

The facade combines modern and traditional styles. The first floor incorporates the old corridor design while retaining the original architectural style, while the second floor uses a modern glass curtain wall and decorative facade combined with traditional brick walls to create an open and dynamic facade.

The central circle of the trail is a central activity area for residents and a meeting point for residents and visitors. The trail takes the form of a circle echoing the White Pagoda, with the overall slope facing it and forming an axis between it and the White Pagoda. It is both a place for residents to interact and a major open space for viewing the tower.

2

Considering the conflict between businesses and visitors and residents within interface one, a fifth interface was added, where visitors and residents have both staggered and intersecting flows to meet the needs of different people's activities.

The Shuanghuishu Site is located 2 km south of the southern bank of the Yellow River in Gongyi, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province, 5,300 years ago. The Shuanghuishu site is the highest-quality central settlement of a capital nature ever found in the late Yangshao culture of the Yellow River basin.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL GUIDE

BURIAL CUSTOMS

Most of Yangshao culture inhabitants were buried in rectangular barrow tombs with pottery and other burial objects, and children were buried in urns.

AGRICULTURE

Yangshao culture was at a primitive stage of hoe farming, using slashand-burn methods and land rotation, production levels were still relatively low.

The Shuanghuishu Site is a carefully sited metropolitan settlement around 5,300 years ago, filling in key material from a key period and area in the origins of Huaxia civilisation.

POTTERY

Yangshao culture had a more developed pottery industry, and the pottery-making techniques best represent the level of economic development of the craft industry at that time.

PHYSICAL MODEL

Previously, the archaeological park was more of a one-way visual output of the site to the visitor, who as a visitor was hardly really interested in the site environment and what it had to offer, which made it much less interesting.

Now

The project aims to design an interactive and experiential archaeological park where visitors can experience the site and its historical artefacts from a multi-dimensional and multi-sensory perspective. 11

Paleolithic period Matriarchal societies in which women are respected, dominant and dominant in production and economic life and in society.

10-17st Centuries During the Ming and Qing dynasties, the status of women was the lowest point in the history of women's status in China.

Kexin dresses herself up every morning.

9:00 AM

WOMEN & NATURE

Kexin Li Age: 27 She loves poetry and painting and aspires to have true love rather than being forced into marriage. But she is socially ostracised for not getting married.

She will go out to work during the day.

8:00 PM In the evenings she paints or plays the piano to relax.

" Why can I only marry someone but not have a life of my own? " 7:00 AM She will spend her mornings at home doing housework.

10:00 AM

In China, despite the fact that the status of women has improved significantly compared to the past, gender discrimination, patriarchy and other unequal concepts and practices still exist. Women still have been framed by outdated concpets. This project attempts to create three kinds of spaces for female empowerment and redefine the female sphere from an eco-feminist perspective by combining the pattern of water.

21st Centuries

After the founding of New China, although the status of women began to improve, patriarchy still existed.

Mei Chen Age: 42 While her husband was out at sea fishing, she was responsible for household chores, weaving nets and handling the seafood.

She will go out on the reef with the other women and weave fish nets.

8:00 PM She handles her husband's seafood from his fishing trips.

" Why do I have to do all these boring chores every day? " 6:00 AM She will go to the hills to chop wood or drive sheep in the morning.

9:00 AM

Mugu Aer Age: 60 Her husband died and her children went out to work. She lives alone all the time and has to do some needlework at home to get by.

She does some needlework and farm work at home.

4:00 PM She will sit and chat with other elderly people over a cup of tea.

" Why can't I spend my old age in a more meaningful way? " 12

Pattern of water ripples water

Ecofeminism insists that nature and women are equal to men and believes that there is a biological connection between women and nature. In China, women are always compared to water, believing that many of the characteristics of women are similar to water.

water

water water

The lake has a gentle and soft ripple, thus producing more faceted areas. The soft surface of the water is like the character of a young woman in the south of the river, gentle yet characteristic.

The sea is affected by the sea breeze and air pressure to form regular ripples, just as the middle-aged women are influenced by their families to perform regular daily chores.

" A woman speaks with nature, she can listen to the sounds from the depths of the earth, the breeze whispers in her ears, the trees murmur to her. " —— Susan·Grifin Woman and Nature

The waterfall's irregular stripes, created by the impact of the height of the terrain, are like the wrinkles that age leaves on the faces of women entering their later years, still yearning for a more interesting life.

13

JANE EYRE

— A romantic space for women

Excessive social pressure and people's perception of women have pushed some women to change themselves. This space, created for freedom and romance, can offer a new way of living. Romance never comes only from marriage, but also from nature and self.

Awakening

The pattern of sea offers a completely new façade structure, which means that one's route of travel no longer rests only horizontally, but in a more coherent diagonal direction. Many families in China still maintain the idea that men should dominate outdoor business while women keep household. So this female-controlled space is created as family cooperative community to take turns taking care of household chores and thus escape the drudgery of everyday life. Whether it's laze or gossip, lives are no longer just about looking after the family but about themselves.

Shenzhen has developed from a small fishing village in forty years to the metropolis it is today. However, the "speed" of Shenzhen has not given the people living here a sense of identity with the city. They do not see themselves as true Shenzheners and do not know if they will still live here when they grow old. The project aims to make Shenzhen a more liveable city where people, both young and old, can find a pace of life that suits them.

Urban Utopia Studies Plato 《The Republic》

Plato's Ideal State states that urban public space is provided in complete harmony with public life. This classical utopia exhibits to a large extent a contemplative goal. It exists in a sedate way, even with some irony.

The concept of "Super Studio" is more about the spiritual aspect of people, ,advocaing that everyone should have equal and free thovghts and that the spirit showld be given priority. I think this idea is suitable for Shenzhen, a city with a rapidly growing population and a shortage of housing, and it is a way to achieve a sense of urban identity in an overly rational city.

Kurokawa Norichika "Symbiosis theory"

The symbiosis of the urban and the natural environment, architecture and the city as open in time and space. This metabolicist doctrine embodies a rational perception of the world.

Corbusier 《The City of Light》

Pedestrians and vehicles never cross each other. The ground level of the mechanised, traffic network is entirely reserved for pedestrians. Every resident can look out of their window and see green trees and blue skies.

What is urban identity? The ideal open city, like the ideal open society, whichever is considered practicable, is a caricature of the opposing ideal, and one should choose to exclude all extreme visions of emancipation and control of both in search of a grey space that exists in between.

Super Studio "Super Surface"

The utopia of the super-studio demands ultimate liberation from materiality, with their focus on oppression-free egalitarianism and preference for an ideal model of unity.

IDEA

Supersurface

Confucius "world of Great Harmony"

There is no uniformity anywhere, no one is not fed and warmed, There will be no need to close the gates of every house. Confucius' "world of Great Harmony" favours the idea of the common good and the relationship between people.

People can do anything with his\ her soul.

Several major branches growing out of the 'fast Shenzhen' to support the supersurface.

18

Master Plan of "Fast Shenzhen" At a time when "Fast Shenzhen"c is in a high-tech, low-life urban state, the emergence of supersurfaces will give the city another possibility to live. It will no longer be a typical megacity and will be able to accommodate people with different life pursuits to find the true meaning of life here. Life in "Slow Shenzhen" will be very different from the pace of life in "Fast Shenzhen", it is suitable for the elderly and even more suitable for the constantly moving working people to find their true selves here.

A super-surface is an infinitely extendable and lighttransmissive surface on which the grid is absolutely even and everyone can find a place.

People can generate different magnetic fields on the super-surface depending on the mood, as a way of judging the possibility of socialising with other people.

People have the ability to think more on the superficial surface, the mind shows more activity and passes it on to the body, which then reaches the super-surface.

IThe super-surface can produce many stretchable memory fibres at any time and anywhere to respond to the activity demands of the human brain.

First round off the individual squares and expand the original squares to reduce the number of buildings on them.

Pick up the edges of the squares and generate random points on either side of the curve, then connect the points to form the upper surface .

In order to create a more primitive and rustic living environment, the architectural forms in "Slow Shenzhen" are simpler and closer to nature.

Avoiding the impact of the structure on the building and pruning part of the branches to suit the supertall building according to climatic factors.

Leaves will grow on the branches to create a more organic environment, while the branches can be broken down into organic matter to enter the soil.

Detailed Perspective

View from the lift to "Slow Shenzhen"

View from the ground in "Fast Shenzhen"

Shenzhen, as a young city with a complex systemic structure, still needs time to establish its urban identity. And the process of establishng is an exchange between architecture and the city, a metaphysical journey of ideological spatial wandering. We should try in various ways to promote mutual dialogue and transformation between architecture and urban space, traditional and modern space, and to find a dynamic balance of appropriate scales in spatial practice.
