The Den and Den Jr.
The Den and the ZIS Gala In January 2016, the Zurich International School Gala “ZIS Goes to Rio” was held to raise money for a new school community center. The charity event was a great success: — 275 guests attended — 17 corporations sponsored — 67 businesses and dozens of ZIS families donated to the auctions — Guests purchased over 200 auction items and took part in the “Wall of Wine” and “Heads and Tails” game — CHF 200,000 was raised, surpassing the CHF 150,000 goal

Through the generosity of the ZIS community, The Den and Den Jr. were completed during 2016.
The whole community – including ZIS families, corporate supporters and local businesses – contributed to fund The Den and Den Jr.
The Den and Den Jr. The Den at the Upper School Campus The Den is a permanent meeting place for the whole school – students, faculty, parents, alumni and other community members – located at the Upper School Campus gym. The Den includes a café with professional kitchen appliances, a serving area and seating, as well as a school store. The store offers ZIS logo items and ZIS athletic wear such as track suits and school T-shirts. The Den is operated by volunteers (parents in the ZIS Booster Club and ZIS student clubs).
The Den features a fully-equipped kitchen, counter, seating and a school “store.”
The Den Jr. at the Lower School Campus At the Lower School Campus, The Den Jr. offers an indoor/outdoor meeting place for parents attending athletic events, doing drop-off/ pick-up, and purchasing ZIS athletic wear. It has storage for ZIS logo wear, and as of May 2017, a simple kitchen.
The Den Jr. offers a place for parents to watch competitions and children playing, and to share refreshments.

The Den and Den Jr. serve the whole ZIS Community: Parents, faculty and students attending evening and weekend school events at The Den Parents and students seeking an informal meeting place during school hours Students meeting for a quick snack at The Den on Wednesday mornings (“Pancake Day”) Alumni coming back to visit with former teachers and classmates Families and guest athletes meeting between games and buying lunch during tournaments Parents and students picking up athletic uniforms, ZIS wear and ZIS logo item orders

During the holidays, Samichlaus and Schmutzli met with Lower School students in the Den Jr.
Food and drinks are offered on Wednesday mornings and during sports tournaments.
The chalkboard at the entrance to the Den announces what’s on the menu that day.
Opening Hours We are grateful for your part in supporting the creation of the ZIS community centers at The Den and Den Jr. Please feel free to visit the Upper School or Lower School campuses to experience the centers!
The Den also displays award trophies, school commendations and framed team shirts.
Upper School Campus The Den is open throughout school hours. On Wednesday mornings, 09:00–10:00 pancakes and refreshments are on sale, as are ZIS logo items and athletic wear. The Den is also open on weekends during school athletic tournaments. Lower School Campus Den Jr. is officially open on Wednesday afternoons, 14:30–15:30 for coffee and to buy ZIS athletic wear. A volunteer committee is currently discussing additional opening times and services.
“Since we get a late start on Wednesdays, it’s nice to have breakfast in school with friends.” The Den Jr. offers ZIS logo clothing at the Lower School, and by May 2017 will have a kitchen for events.
