repair / rebuild / reuse All Matix denim comes with a “lifetime” guarantee. The guarantee covers specifically manufacturing defects in regards to buttons, rivets, zippers, belt loops or seams (each a “defect”). We will repair or replace your defective jeans with a new pair (or similar pair, in the event such style has been discontinued), as provided below. This lifetime guarantee only covers Matix denim pants. What does “lifetime” mean? Our products are covered under warranty, to the original owner (with authentic proof of purchase), for the lifetime of the product. Unfortunately, this does not mean your lifetime. Your favorite Gripper denim Pants may not survive to the ripe old age of 70. (But we have heard from folks whose well-loved & cared for 1998 Styro denim pants are still going strong!)

T e l l u s a b o u t a t y p i c a l “ C h a s e ” day…
easy to just have fun rolling around with your friends.
There’s really no typical day really for me, but every day does involve Starbucks and Instagram.
W e k n ow yo u d o s o m e a r t ? w h at i s your favorite piece you have done for matix?
W h o i s n o r m a l ly i n yo u r c i r c l e ?
Yes for Matix, Cycle Zombies, Captain Fin, Stance and others. I’d have to say my favorite piece of art I have done for Matix is the ‘Deathcard’ logo.
Definitely, Turkey because he’s my cousin and neighbor. My other cousin Scotty and Uncle Scott, Troy Elmore, JJ Wessels, Trevor Lucca, Mark Choiniere, Jason Webber, a handful of friends from LA to San Diego. Last but certainly not least, my mom. W h at p e o p l e / m u s i c i n f lu e n c e yo u r s u r f i n g & s k at e b oa r d i n g ? Geez that’s a big question…I listen to a lot of music, but what definitely gets me moving is bands like Black Sabbath, Devo, Thin Lizzy, Rock n Roll and 80’s hardcore pretty much. Surf influence definitely goes back to the guys in the 60’s where style was eccentric and mandatory. Guys like Lance Carson, Johnny Fain and Bob McTavish are some of my favorites. Skateboarding is a tough one, but definitely some of the guys on my radar lately have been Brandon Westgate and Raney Beres, those dudes are gnar.

W h e n d i d yo u g e t i n to c h o p p e r s ? W h at t y p e s o f b i k e s a r e yo u m o s t i n to? I got into old bikes a few years back and am completely submerged with them. I’m mostly into old Harleys from the 40s, 50s and 60s but I also dig Indians, Triumphs, and whatever looks cool. Its just another way to express yourself, have fun and go fast!
Canyon?! Its just a big ol’ crack in the ground! Well, some jackasses in DC figured out how to do it and it worked. W h at ’ s yo u r a f fi n it y w it h b u y i n g & s e l l i n g m oto r c yc l e pa r t s ? I s it a l i v i n g or just fun? Tell us about the compou nd you have with Tu rk . you guys share the same room?
Yup, I rode to Brooklyn for a motorcycle show out there. Why not fly? It’s a lot more fun to see the country when you’re in it, not over it I guess. The journey is the destination.
Haha, no we don’t share a room that would get awkward. Basically Turkey, our friend Chris and I all live in this weird spot in Costa Mesa with these 3 janky old houses. Its rad, dirt bikes in the front yard, bon fires, bb guns, axe throwing, we like to have fun.
m o s t m e m o r a b l e s u r f o r s k at e s e s s i o n ?
W e r e yo u h a p py w it h t r av e l i n g w h e n a l l t h e n at i o n a l pa r k s w e r e s h u t d ow n ?
Most memorable skate session was at the old miniature golf course off the 405 in Carson. The spot is gone now, but it was just one of those timeless spots that’s not very ‘good’ but so
I’m pretty out of touch with current events as it is, so when I didn’t get the memo that all the parks were closed I was so confused. I was thinking - something ain’t right here, how can you close down the Grand

I grew up in Long Island by the beach and only a quick train ride into Manhattan. I come from a long line of creative people, so there was always something being made around me. My family is a typical Italian immigrant story — Both sides came over to New York in the early 1900s and settled in the Lower East Side. Eventually they spread out into the boroughs and I got a really enjoyable upbringing of big Sunday dinners, loud relatives, and a lot of great people around at all times. There were always awesome stories floating around too, and they always had to do with something that happened “in the neighborhood.” New York City and the culture surrounding it was a big part of my childhood and I don’t think I could ask for a better way to grow up.

Well, I have a big nose...big noses run in my family. I thought it was only right to honor that. After all, “the nose knows.”
Growing up with a family background in art and a life in New York pretty much started me off right away. As a kid I was obsessed with movie posters, baseball team logos, and lettering that I would see every time I went outside. Any time my parents would take us somewhere I’d study the old mom and pop store signage, the graffiti on the walls, and the amazingly modern advertisements that blanket the city. I got the bug pretty early, but it was my mother and grandmother that really taught me what lettering was all about. Both of them were proficient in calligraphy and taught me at a really young age, so I kind of had that hand since the beginning. As I got older I started to put more emphasis on all styles of lettering from architecture lettering to graffiti. I wanted to know it all and literally plastered it all over every blank surface I could get my hands on. There have been a few other people along the way that helped push me in new directions, but without my mother and grandmother

I actually am self-taught for the most part. I did my first paid freelance job when I was 14 and continued all the way through college until I began working full time as a designer. I did go to school and got a degree in graphic design, but since I had already been working for about 4 years prior to that, my teachers let me slide and allowed me to work on more personal work and spend more time on fine art. I must’ve taken about 6 figure drawing classes back to back at one point. S o t e l l u s a l it t l e b it a b o u t S t u d i o N o s e ? W h e r e d i d t h at n a m e co m e f r o m ?

Mostly hardcore bands and a few metalcore bands. The last band I was in was called The Ambition and we actually did pretty well for not ever being on tour. We were signed to a label that also had The Black Dahlia Murder before they got huge, so we were in good company at the time. Honestly though, my favorite part of being in a band was designing all the merch and packaging. I couldn’t wait for us to release new music so I could design new covers & promotional materials. I was always changing stuff and I think the rest of my bandmates got annoyed with it

We kicked off the first release with a bang. We went right into a full capsule collection with tees, denim, a hat & a handful of accessories. We found a voice pretty quickly and we’ve really had fun with it since then. My favorite part of working with Matix is being obnoxious with my work. I feel like creating a safe t-shirt graphic is boring, but when we work together we always try to push the boundaries & do something badass. I love that. S o w h at s o n t h e h o r izo n t h i s y e a r ? Besides continuing on the path of working 28 hours a day, I’m going to be launching a brand new clothing company called Contino Brand. I’m working with some really amazing people and will be putting in some serious attention to detail. The product runs will be small and limited so I can constantly be doing new and exciting stuff. I’m also going to keep the majority of it online-only, so I can constantly be creating new items without having to worry about seasonal deliveries. I’m going to do it the way I’d like a clothing company to be run and not have to worry about what retail stores need. The brand is going to be all about my relationship with the craft and the customers. I want everyone to feel like they’re a part of the brand in one way or another and keep it really tight. And just being able to shred with the guy has been amazing ever since. I mean even though he is a million times better than me on the board, he has a way of making you feel like you’re on the same level because what it comes down to is us trying to learn new tricks. He always inspires me to try tricks I thought I can never land. His passion for skateboarding is insane. True professional skateboarder and my homie.
I love making little family edits for my kids. Like when we go on little vacations or to Disneyland they always wait for me to put a short edit together of the event. Just to see them enjoy these over and over is priceless. You may catch these on my facebook page.

Matix at its core is an American brand. A brand built from an idea and passion for a lifestyle native to California. Although we live a lifestyle once understated we never forgot our roots. If you look back far enough you will find youself in a dusty ol’ garage. And if you look into any garage anywhere in America you will most likely find the same things. A hammer, some nails, a screwdriver and some old sentimental junk. The usual household suspects, right? But, these are the essential tools needed to build any idea weather its a backyard ramp or a foundation to a house. You have to start somewhere and you have to do some real wrenching before you can truly understand the meaning of the words ‘First Quality’. We are proud to say we understand these two simple words.

we use on the daily. We have designed a range of plain t-shirts, boxers and socks in solids, yarndyed stripes and prints. Essentials are the core of the Matix collection; they are the first thing you put on in the morning before your denim, before your shoes, before that favorite jacket. Take pleasure in the simple things.
