RECCO Avalanche Rescue System
FLEX METER
RECCO is an avalanche rescue system utilized by more than 600 rescue organizations worldwide to assist in the efficient location of avalanche victims. RECCO technology enables the rapid directional pinpointing of a victim’s precise location using harmonic radar. The two-part system consists of a RECCO detector used by organized rescue groups, and RECCO reflectors that are integrated into select boots in the Vans line. The reflector is permanently affixed, requires no training for use, and needs no batteries to function.
Selecting a boot with the right amount of support for your preferred style of riding is one of the most important decisions a boot buyer can make. The flex rating is designed to provide a reference of how different boots within the Vans line compare in flexibility.

LINERS With our long history of building footwear, we know a thing or two about fit. Since the beginning, we have focused on developing liners that are ergonomically engineered and provide custom fit capabilities. New for this season, we have refined our X-Cage shape to accommodate a wider range of foot shapes, while still providing a nailed-in heel hold. The asymmetrical shape works in conjunction with the bone and ligament structure of the ankle and lower leg areas to create an anatomically sound and supportive fit. We’ve also developed a seamless construction in the toe area of each liner so you get all the benefit of the Comfort Flex toe box without the feeling of any seams. We’ve increased the cuff thickness on our liners for added comfort and to better complement our shell construction.

VANS BOA® LACING SYSTEMS It seems lacing systems have been all the rage the last few seasons. Ever since we introduced the first Boa boot 10 years ago it changed the game. There are certainly plenty of lacing system options available to choose from but unfortunately many of them don’t offer much of a benefit over traditional laces. Don’t settle for less. When deciding on which lacing system to choose ask yourself if it provides better performance and fit or is it just another marketing gimmick? Quite simply put, no other lacing system delivers the versatility and performance benefits that the Boa System provides. There truly is no substitute. Since its introduction, the Cirro has set the pace as the best boot in its class. For this next season things only get better. The 2011 Cirro comes equipped with an all-new heat-moldable liner with adjustable fit pads which, along with the new Focus System, allows riders to achieve the ultimate custom fit. We have reengineered our Focus System with a new lace routing path that provides a more balanced direction of pull on the shell, while also allowing us to eliminate and reduce the volume of the components in the instep area. The most versatile performance lacing system on the market just got better.
