HOW DOES VARIOFLEX WORK?

Varioflex is a lens technology that causes the lenses to change their tint depending on the weather. During the production process, so called indolinospironaphthoxazine (ISN) compounds are added to the plastic lenses. As a result, the self-tinting lenses react to UV light in the same way our skin does. When exposed to UV light radiation the ISN “pigments” open up and produce the darkening effect. Conversely, when the UV light decreases, the lenses become brighter again. This happens in a matter of seconds and provides you with glasses that adjust to continually changing light conditions.

WHAT IS QUATTROFLEX?

Quattroflex is the Alpina technology that blocks light radiation depending on polarization, allowing only rays from direct light sources to penetrate the lens – reflections from water surfaces or glaring snow landscapes are thus blocked. Quattroflex enhances contrasts and gives the wearer a more authentic sensation of vision.

WHAT DOES FOGSTOP DO?

Fogstop is a coating on the inside of the lenses. The coating is not smooth but rough, even “fissured” on a microscopic level. As a result, the drops have no chance of forming a cohesive layer, in other words to fog and to blur the wearer’s vision. This would only happen if the moisture managed to fill the fissures with water. Before this happens, the deposited moisture condenses and vision remains clear.
