Deviation products are built by Deviation, not bought by Deviation from some other manufacturer. With an inherently Oregonian “craft-brew” mentality Deviation pledges to always design and handcraft Deviation products in our own factory, right here in the USA.

POPLAR is one of the more commonly used woods in snowboard construction for good reason. This “poppy” wood is lightweight and responsive. When I started snowboarding I had already been skateboarding for years. I loved riding big bowls, getting to fly around the park hitting little airs and grinds. I also loved riding rails, I get such a good feeling board sliding down little handrails. So naturally when I started snowboarding I wanted to ride everything. When I get up to the mountain I love spending the first few runs ripping around groomers, or even better, ripping pow, if

there’s any fresh snow to be had. Just going fast, hitting side hits and seeking out all the little transitions. Especially at resorts like Brighton, UT where its like a skate park with all the natural terrain. After all the fresh snow is gone I head to park. This is where skateboarding transfers the most, it feels so good locking into a nice nose press or a big lip slide. After cruising though the rails you get to the drop in for the jumps, where its time to go fast and fly high!

I grew up skiing variable conditions on the east coast. This led me to focus on park and street skiing. When I was younger I definitely was a park rat. While this is still a large part of my skiing style, moving west to Colorado and traveling to film has expanded my skiing to the backcountry. I still have a lot of park / street riding left in me, but I really look forward to dedicating more time to pow and big mountain. Anytime I can have my skis on my feet is a blessing. I enjoy all aspects of skiing, bumps, pow, groomers, park, and street. If you get tired with one discipline within skiing there is always ways to change things up! I'm really stoked to be on board with Deviation for multiple reasons. I am excited for a new level of involvement with a sponsor that I have not really had before. I also think it is really cool Deviation offers fully ROCKO MENZYCK customizable skis and PHOTOS: snowboards. Flex, Graphics, different waist widths allow you to truly make each product your own. I am looking forward to growing with this brand and learning more in depth about the process of building skis.

As a recovering ski and snowboard addict, I still get my fix by recreating in the Cottonwood Canyons just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, along with my wife and soon-to-be-born son. I fill my days working as a bike and ski tech at a local shop but my real passion is being an artist. As a bit of a generalist, I’ve had the opportunity to do storyboards, animation, 3D environment/characters for indie and AAA video games, spray paint murals, graphic design and illustration. In addition to creating artwork for skis and snowboards, I’m currently polishing up my animation and post production FX skills in a joint effort to open a small animation studio.
