NEW FOR 2020/2021

SLAYr

The SLAYr is freeride skiing at its ideal balance of lightweight, playfulness, and downhill performance. Super easy and fun to ski regardless of skill level, this ski is equally at home on big lines in far-off locales as it is buttering through the local trees on a powder day.

WHY G3? SKIS There is a lot of cool technology and engineering that goes into our skis. But the real story behind G3 skis is why we make them in the first place - every decision we make and material we use is designed to make ski touring even better than it already is. We strive for that ideal balance of uphill and downhill performance, and the proof in all of this comes when you get out and just ski ‘em.

MORE THAN THE SUM OF ITS PARTS CARBON + PU + METAL + LIGHT STIFF CORE = UNMATCHED UPHILL/DOWNHILL PERFORMANCE The laws of physics are tricky when it comes to skis. In alpine skis the classic solution for a smooth ride and powerful downhill performance in any terrain and snow condition is to make the ski heavier using heavy woods in the core, glass fibre laminates, metals, etc. But with backcountry skis, we have to get creative with the materials, design, shape, and technology we use in order to achieve an ideal balance of low weight and powerful downhill performance. G3’s unique ski construction is more than the sum of its parts. The combination of all materials is deliberate in order to create a ski that outperforms its weight class and compares in performance with skis that are much heavier on the scale. The carbon works with the PU to create a light, stiff, yet damp ski. The right amount of Titanal aluminum is used in each ski to improve binding retention and maximize dampness and control without adding unnecessary weight. Our cores are designed for each ski’s characteristics and needs in weight, responsiveness, and strength. A lighter backcountry ski does not necessarily equal a better skiing experience. We strive to find the balance of low weight and high performance that is perfect for each ski and its intended user.

MADE IN CANADA

POLYURETHANE SIDEWALLS

MAGNETIC CONTACT POINTS

PREMIUM CARBON FIBRE CONSTRUCTION G3 uses only premium carbon fibre laminates in the FINDr, SEEKr, and SLAYr skis. These are the same 100% multi-directional stitch bonded fabrics used in aerospace industries. To optimize the flex, rigidity and power transfer specific to each ski, we meticulously engineer every layer of carbon above and below the core. WET VS. DRY LAYUP G3 starts with dry and flexible sheets of carbon fibre for each ski. This allows us to use exactly the right amount of resin for each ski’s size, weight, and the amount of carbon laminate. Our process minimizes unnecessary resin weight and maximizes the carbon’s contribution to flex, rigidity and power transfer.

SIDEWALLS IN ALL SKIS WHAT IS POLYURETHANE? Polyurethane (or PU) is an elastomeric polymer material known for its energy absorption, durability, and elasticity. It is commonly used in skateboard wheels and racecar bushings to make for a smoother ride.

MAGNETIC CONTACT POINTS IN ALL SKIS Introduced with the FINDr in 19/20, every ski in the G3 line-up is now magnetic at both the tip and tail contact points to hold your skis together without a strap for faster transitions and less fiddle. The idea started as a way to make technical transitions more efficient for ski mountaineers, but we soon found the benefits extended to include general movement around the mountain - at the base, in the van or the roof box, and eliminating the scissoring that is so common with Jerrys everywhere. Originally designed for technical mountaineering use, but useful for all types of skiers.

NO MORE CHATTER An inherent problem with carbon and ultralight touring skis is chatter, due to the light and stiff materials used. PU sidewalls counteract this chatter by absorbing that extra energy and creating a more damp ride overall. DURABILITY & VERSATILITY The elasticity of PU increases durability by 30% improving protection from sidewall impact when compared to ABS. Using PU in ski construction also allows for a permanent bond to the wood core and a seamless sidewall.

Seriously, get your hands on a pair and try it out.

BUILT TO LAST MATERIALS THAT CAN HANDLE THE ABUSE OF BACKCOUNTRY SKIING Durability and performance are paramount to the G3 design, and we don’t hold back on crucial materials in order to save weight. Hardened corrosion resistant alloy steel edges featured in G3 skis allow for extreme durability and integrity through multiple tunes. FULL THICKNESS BASES While other ski manufacturers may use thinner bases to cut weight, G3 utilizes full thickness bases for optimal performance in the field. Thicker bases allow multiple tunes to maximize the performance of the ski throughout the life of the product. More importantly, these bases are far less susceptible to impact damage from hidden rocks and other obstacles.

SKIER'S CHOICE

HIGH PERFORMANCE IN A PROVEN PLATFORM The ION family of bindings is engineered to the highest performance standards. The optimal toe elasticity and forward pressure in the heel result in maximum energy absorption and consistent release during active use. The wide freeride mount transfers power to the edges, enhances torsional rigidity and provides superior pull-out resistance. Rigorous testing in the lab combined with real-world field testing by users pushing the limits on skis help us create the best performing bindings in their class.

SIMPLE & INTUITIVE ION bindings feature fluid, efficient and confidence inspiring step-ins and transitions. The integrated BootStop aligns your boot toe for a quick, easy and consistent engagement. The QuickFlick heel lifts are easy to grab with your ski pole or hand while the omnidirectional heel allows you to turn the binding heel in either direction to lock for touring. The bindings have been built to require a single Pozi Drive #3 for all mounts and adjustments, reducing the number of tools you carry with you. The driving factor for these features when designing the binding was to have the best possible user experience every time you go skiing.

ION 12

ION LT 12

ION 10

The highest performing, most user friendly and most reliable tech binding for aggressive backcountry skiers. Refined with 4 seasons of testing and enhancements.

A sleek, lighter, brakeless version of the ION for ski mountaineers and gram counters.

The ION’s simplicity and reliability in high value model with lower release range of 4-10.

Simple Boot Stop - Minimal weight, effective step in guidance.

RELIABLE & DURABLE You know a binding does its job when you don’t notice it all day. The snow clearing channel allows easy ice and snow discharge preventing build up and unwanted prerelease. The brake is spring loaded and fully retracts giving a reassuring step-in and confidence in its ability to stop bigger freeride skis. The heel AFD (Anti Friction Device) ensures consistent release for all boots, independent of sole type. You don’t have to worry about the binding. Just ski, and ski hard.

Heel Rest - Simple, lightweight.

NEW FOR 2020/2021 NEW DURABLE & ENTIRELY PFC-FREE WATERPROOFING FOR ALL NYLON SKINS

WHY G3? SKINS

For many years G3’s climbing skin waterproofing has been free of PFOA or C8 chemicals. This was important to us early on due to the potentially harmful nature of these chemicals and the possibility of those chemicals seeping into the natural environment.

As the market leader in climbing skins we focus on a full line approach where every skier in any condition anywhere in the world has the perfect G3 skin to choose from. Every decision we make is focused on enabling the user to do more in the backcountry.

We now look even further to improve all our nylon skins by eliminating C6 chemicals and going completely PFC (perflourocarbon) free. This new solution leaps beyond the industry standard and offers a better product overall by embedding itself into the fibres and wrapping around every thread in the plush. BETTER FOR THE ENVIRONMENT BETTER FOR EVERYONE WHO HANDLES THE SKINS Including users, shop staff, and G3 production

BEST-IN-CLASS PLUSH FABRICS

BETTER LONG TERM DURABILITY

G3 develops premium nylon, mohair, and mixed plush materials to design the right solution for each backcountry user.

Any location and all conditions. Universal nylon plush material is durable and versatile. Optimal balance of grip, glide, weight and durability.

Maximum grip and traction ideal for steep ascents and icy skin tracks. High-traction nylon plush material for durability and versatility.

All-purpose, go-anywhere skin built for cold and dry conditions with premium waterproofing. 70% mohair for optimal glide and 30% nylon for added durability.

Our fastest plush excels in cold and dry conditions. 100% mohair fabric with premium waterproofing increases glide and overall speed in the mountains.

The image to the right shows the like-new waterproofness of a skin after being abused on the 26-day Purcell Mountains Traverse across Southeastern British Columbia.

RETAIL READY The sophisticated and consistent packaging design for all G3 skins serves as a premium presentation for the retail floor. Partnered with G3’s updated skin POP displays they create the best possible shopping experience for retail customers. QUICK TRIM Every pair of G3 skins are packaged with the fastest and simplest trim tool available. This makes it super easy for the user to trim their new skins at home or the retailer can offer this as an added value in the shop.

UNRIVALED TIP & TAIL CONNECTION The innovative, patented tip and tail connectors in all G3 skins create a lightweight, solid and reliable connection to your skis or board. The self-aligning hands fit easily on any shape, and the camming tails on all skins are super easy to attach and remove in any condition. EASY TRANSITIONS & BOMBER CONNECTION G3’s low profile, elongated tail strap makes transitions fast and easy. The camming clip stays positioned on the ski or board, reduces wear and allows for easy adjustments.

WHERE DOES GRIP COME FROM? It’s one of the seemingly endless questions we ask to challenge the status quo of climbing skin design. Skins that cover the entire base of your skis are overkill and heavy. Most of your skin’s grip comes from just under the binding while fabric on the tip and tail creates unnecessary drag. Exposed ski base and alternative materials can significantly improve glide and efficiency without affecting that allimportant grip.

NO MORE SNOW CREEP

The stiff material of the ALPINIST+ tip creates a rigid platform that keeps snow from creeping under the skin and extends the use of your adhesive.

MINIMIST UNCOMPROMISED PERFORMANCE AT AN UNRIVALED WEIGHT

The MINIMIST skins achieve an ultralight feel by using high performance textiles from other demanding sports applications as a backbone. This results in climbing skins that exceed the highest expectations for features and performance. Every MINIMIST skin is up to 30% lighter than anything else in its performance class.

CARBON INSERT REDUCES SNOW CREEP

During development of the ALPINIST+ skins we learned about the mechanics of how snow can creep under your skins and contaminate your adhesive. We were unwilling to step backward in these advancements in order to achieve lighter weight targets when designing the MINIMIST. Our solution? A carbon fibre insert at the tip of each MINIMIST skin, creating a directionally rigid platform that prevents snow creep and extends your time in the mountains.

Building on the strength of the classic ALPINIST, the MINIMIST Universal is the lightest, most packable fully-featured nylon skin in the world with unparalleled versatility, durability, and usability. XS

COMPACT PACKABILITY

COMPETITOR SKIN

The MINIMIST skins pack small enough to fit into your jacket pocket. The low-bulk materials matched with the minimalist tip and tail system create a tightly packed roll that doesn’t require any extra room in your pack.

XS

INNOVATIVE CAMMING TAIL CONNECTOR Eliminating the need for difficult positioning and hard pulling to affix the tail strap, the SPLITBOARD+ tail connector features a straight edge to line up on your board and a simple camming clip that requires very little effort and will hold the tail strap in place with confidence.

ASYMMETRICAL TIP CONNECTOR G3’s splitboard skin tip connectors are inspired by our ski skins, but custom tailored for splitboards. The low profile, self-aligning stainless steel hand on each skin tip allows for a secure, lightweight connection on any board shape.

PRE-CUT STRAIGHT EDGE The tip and tail connections and the straight edge of the skin fabric are all built to naturally align with your board out of the box. You only need to trim the shaped edge of the skin to dial in a custom fit.

FLEXIBLE SIZING WITH GENEROUS OVERLAP The sizing curve for the SPLITBOARD+ skins reflects real user needs and positions the most popular board lengths in the middle of a size. The S/M and M/L skins overlap for 8 cm allowing splitters who fall within that range a choice to have more skin fabric for additional coverage or less material for weight savings.

A TOOL BUILT FOR THE BACKCOUNTRY

Splitboarders have different needs in regards to bindings and transitions when skinning. The extended utility tab at the nose is the perfect tool for manipulating your bindings on the fly with a shape that allows for the pushing or pulling specific to splitboard bindings. PIVOT

POLE

ACCESSORIES

SECURE PACKING Optimized user experience comes from the finishing details in any design. PIVOT poles wrap around the handle and lock into place when packed, making it super easy to fit into your backpack or cleanly attach them to the outside. This nesting feature gives a secure finish when packed which is ideal for splitboarders and for travel. NEW

LIGHT & STRONG The lightweight aluminum construction of the PIVOT is engineered for strength and durability. The design of the poles improves on stiffness and power over other folding poles for a stronger downhill performance when needed.

ALL MOUNTAIN BASKET

RESORT/TREKKING BASKET

POWDER BASKET

The all-mountain basket is the perfect size (85mm) and shape to tackle any snow condition and terrain type. The material is just the right stiffness to allow you to manipulate your bindings on the way up while maintaining smooth movement through the snow on the descent.

G3’s in-bounds basket, useful at the resort, or for summer trekking use.

100mm diameter. This large pole basket’s unique shape serves as a tool helping to engage binding heel lifters while ski touring, and maintaining plenty of float through deep snow while skiing.

For certain bindings it is easier to use the basket to do this job, so the PIVOT basket is dialed in to do just that and keep you moving uphill.
