Giro helmets and goggles are meticulously designed and tested to work together as a functioning unit. We consider all aspects of feature integration and functionality to achieve the perfect fit, comfort and performance on-snow.
Giro padding is strategically tiered and stepped to work in tandem with head forms, helmet depth, and MIPS. Padding is placed to ensure warmth and breathability, to align with helmet venting systems, and to achieve Seamless Compatibility with Giro goggles.
Giro’s proprietary head forms are developed using a combination of precision head scans, meticulous fit studies, and an aggregation of worldwide head size and shape data. Giro additionally employs head forms scaled to address our Asian fit line.

It’s the tireless hours dedicated to R&D in the Dome – our world-class test lab in Santa Cruz, California. It’s science, math and technology; all backed up by ongoing fit studies, thousands of 3D head scans and the inclusion of rider feedback that yields the perfect fit.
Proper goggle retainer placement completes the Giro package. It is essential for the seamless integration of both the goggles and helmet to achieve their peak performance. The hazards of poor retainer placement include: poor helmet positioning on the head, compromised visibility, brain freeze, poor venting and gaper gap.
EAR PAD POSITIONING Ear pad positioning is a key component of fit and comfort. Each Giro helmet model is scrutinized to achieve the perfect ear pad positioning to provide essential warmth, comfort and wind-reduction, all without compromising your ability to hear your surroundings.
HELMET DEPTH The ideal helmet depth successfully combines comfort with total coverage of the forehead, back of the head and ears. We achieve this through careful fit studies and 3D printed prototypes to ensure the perfect fit when confronting cold temperatures, high speeds and wind.
MIPS OFFSET MIPS integration is accounted for at the ground floor of helmet development to ensure that the technology does not compromise comfort. Our current line of MIPS-equipped helmets boasts an integration so sophisticated that most riders will never notice the technology is even there.
