WELCOME BACK TO THE FUTURE Back in 1984, our goal was to build the most progressive snowboards that our new sport had ever seen, helping push the development of both the board and the rider to the next level. 33 years on and that mission remains unchanged. For this season we’ve looked back on our past, a past that helped forge the very roots of our sport, a past that has seen us develop some of the most innovative products that have made their way to become the bedrock of snowboard construction, a past that has delivered us multiple awards and world championships. That past has also made us look at the face of modern snowboarding and what lies beyond. For 2017/18 we’ve decided it’s time to totally change the direction of our brand and prepare for the future, combining our history of performance snowboarding with modern technology and design we believe we’ve come up with a new range that will redefine modern day snowboarding. Blending the very best carving performance with class leading freeride versatility we believe that we have delivered a new type of ride that blows the cobwebs from traditional norms and takes snowboarding back to its surf inspired roots.

2009 Nidecker partners with professional riders Romain de Marchi, DCP, and JP Solberg to create a new brand called YES. Nidecker Group

In connection with new strategy launched in October 2015, NIDECKER, has acquired a new visual identity with the new logo Nidecker “swiss crafted devices since 1887”.

With the help of Thierry Kunz, Nidecker launches a new collection called SNOW.SURF. Taking inspiration from the very essence of surf inspired snowboarding and redefined it for the old and new generation. The revolution has returned.

GROUP In 2008, Henri IV gave the key of the company to his son Henry V, Xavier and Cédric Nidecker which they evolved the company to the NIDECKER Group to anticipate the creation of licensed brands the following years: Jones Snowboards, YES Snowboards, Now Snowboard Bindings and Laird Stand Up Paddle at the same time then evolving their own brand Nidecker. KNOWLEDGE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE

It’s not hard to make a snowboard look good, what is hard though, is making a snowboard ride good. There’s 100’s of boards out there, but there’s only a handful that really stand out. That’s because to create the best snowboards out there, you need a knowledge of shaping and material engineering that you can only get through experience. With over 100years of experience in winter sports product development, we’ve come to the conclusion that the eye and knowledge of a shaper will always outweigh that of a CAD designer. There’s nothing we enjoy more than the hours of riding, conceptualizing, sharing, and testing that we put into each and every model in our line.

OUTLINE

The shape of a board defines its very heart and soul. Even the smallest variation in nose shape, radius and tail profile can have the most dramatic effect on performance. At Nidecker we believe that the secret to creating the best snowboards is to ensure that we get these key elements spot on. With over 30 years of snowboard manufacturing under our belts we’ve seen trends come and go, but what we’ve also learned is how to get it exactly right.

6 TAIL SHAPE You could be forgiven for thinking that the tail of your board isn’t really that important. But think again, the tail really is a key element in the design of the board. It’s what allows you to finish your turn and initiate the next one, but it can also be your nose when your ride in switch. So no matter what type of board you ride it’s always going to be an important part of its make up..

SIDECUT SHAPES The radius is similar to the steering wheel of your car. A smaller radius will naturally make the board turn shorter, and vice versa. One of the secret is an adjusted radius next to the contact edges, allowing you to turn with ease. This is why we adjust always the sidecut depending on the program of the board and the rider specifications (weight / shoe size).

NOSE SHAPES As the first thing to come into contact with the snow, the board’s nose is the gateway to defining the riding character of each board. Get it right and it’s the gateway to the very essence of snowboarding.

ALL ROUND Pretty much the same as the All Round nose shape. With a pure and simple transition it delivers an easy and smooth ride. Predictable and playful in the turn and a second nose for the switch riding.

R5 SERIES This 5 meter + radius is the one we use for our kids boards. It allows the rider to be able to turn quickly helping with both progression and confidence. We believe it ensures that kids have fun and learn the correct technique from day one.

ALL ROUND The classic snowboard shape that’s been proven through years of riding. With a pure and simple transition we use it in our All Around boards. Easy and smooth to ride.

FISH We use this on our exciting new Mellow. Specially designed to sink the tail, it lets us drastically reduce the length of the board.

R6 SERIES The ultra short radius of 6 meter + is the one we use for light weight riders. This radius is perfect for lighter riders who don’t have as much power in their legs but who still want a board that delivers responsive and reassuring turns.

FREERIDE Freeriding can be summed up pretty easily. It’s all about riding the natural terrain of the mountain. From blasting those groomer runs all the way through to hunting out those back country powder stashes. BOARD SPECIFICATION

The board specifications is a rating between 1 (less good) to 5 (best) in of the key riding characteristics. It lets you build a picture of each board to ensure that it comes close to matching your own personal riding style.

FLOATING Pretty self-explanatory really, this shows you how easily the board comes up onto float at slow speeds. Of course all boards will float at high speed, but what this tells you is how fast the board will come onto a plane when you first drop in. And in those deep powder runs, that’s important.

SWITCH This shows you how well the board performs riding switch. Obviously the more freestyle orientated your riding the higher you need to go.

CARVABILITY Yes, we know it’s a made up word, but it pretty much describes what we are trying to say perfectly. This gives an indication of the boards performance when it comes to carving. Of course, all boards can turn but depending on the sidecut and the flex there’s turning and then there’s TURNING!

HIGH SPEED STABILITY This gives an indication as to how stable the board is at high speed. All our boards are stable at low to normal speed, but when you love to ride very fast you need that extra stability to really give you the confidence to charge.

STANCE

Most riders have developed their stance from a combination of trial and error thrown together with a little bit of riding fashion and trends. Now why that works, in reality it isn’t optimizing the harmony between the rider and the board. Over the past few years we’ve worked with many specialists in the field of human anatomy and we have developed a process that enables you to optimize your stance to get the very best performance from your board, taking into account your body and your style of riding. In this process you need first to calculate your natural stance and from this result adjusting depending on your riding style as followed.

NATURAL STANCE The Natural Stance is a calculation of your body’s skeletal geometry. This is obtained by using what we call the Golden Ration. This optimum stance width is found by measuring the distance between the floor and the mid of your knee. This measure is your natural stance, the best ration of balance and force with the least amount of stress on your articulations. FREECARVE STANCE The Freecarve stance is the simply your Natural Stance. This will give you the best ratio of balance and power to make sure that you have all the force to really drive those edges. ALL MOUNTAIN STANCE The All Mountain Stance is your Natural stance + 2 cm. This gives you the perfect balance of performance and comfort for all day cruising on and off piste. FREERIDE STANCE The Freeride stance is your natural stance + 4 cm. It will bring you a good aptitude to carving and help you to absorb chop. It also gives a stable platform for those big powder landings. It will also increase stability at high speed. FREESTYLE STANCE The Freestyle Stance is your Natural Stance + 6 to 10 cm, this gives you improved balance for landing jumps and riding switch. Carving will be compromised a little but you’ll make up for that with improved stability. This stance is also recommended for less experienced riders as it will improve your balance when starting to master your technique. ANGLES

The perfect set up on a board is the combination between the stance and the angles. As for the stance the angles of your front and back foot will be directly linked to your style of ride. – Front foot angle establishes your direction and engages your turn. – Back foot angle gives you the balance and energy to finish your turn or to pop.
