Taka Hayashi is a Japanese-born artist and designer who moved to California at a young age. Taka has made an indelible mark on Vans’ classic silhouettes season after season, challenging the conventions of sneaker design and creating timeless, premium pieces within the high-end Vans Vault line. Customizing the fit of your boots has never been easier or more convenient. The Custom Slide Guide’s anatomical shape provides adjustable fit anywhere along the instep area for added comfort and unmatched heel hold. Featured on the Infuse, Implant and Men’s and Women’s Aura boots.
The Tongue Lock Down system aids in pulling the tongue down as you tighten up your boots, helping to eliminate heel lift. Featured on the V-66 and Sequal boots.
BOOT H EAT ER THE REACH AROU ND Much more than just a standard cuff strap, the Reach Around is attached to the inside shell of the boot and provides the versatility to wrap around either the internal liner or the exterior tongue, allowing a rider to easily customize the fit and response of the V-66, Implant and Sequal boots.
Heat-moldable liners take our exceptional out-of-the-box fit one step further.
H EAT I NG I NS T RU C T I ONS : 1. Position boots on the heat tubes with the toes of the boots pointed towards the front of the machine. 2. Select one of the two preset time buttons. Removable, high-rebound Hytrel® tongue stiffeners allow riders to custom-tune their boot flex. Slide them both in for maximum support, use just one to provide either increased lateral or medial response, or leave them out for a softer-flexing boot. Over the course of a season as your boots soften up, you can add the tongue stiffeners back in, extending the life of your boots. The Vans Flex Control System is featured in the men’s Infuse and Sequal boots.
As our liners evolve each year, Vans’ main focus is to continue our reputation of great out-of-the-box fit. All of our 2016 liners are heat-moldable for the ultimate in comfort and customizable fit. With decades of footwear experience, utilizing a specific shell and liner last for every full and half size has been standard practice with Vans’ snowboard boot construction. The foundation of Vans liner fit is based around our X-cage ankle overlay. The Vans X-cage works in harmony with the bone and ligament structure of the ankle and lower leg to create an anatomically-sound and supportive fit. The result is the most secure heel hold available.

Featured on the men’s Infuse and Implant, the Hybrid Boa configuration represents the best of both worlds, combining traditional laces with Boa closure focused on the critical instep area of the boot. This configuration allows riders to lace their boots tighter than what can be achieved with traditional laces, as well as make on-the-fly adjustments. The Custom Slide Guide enables further customization of the fit and flex of the boot.

Featured on the men’s and women’s Encore, this tongue-mounted single reel system utilizes a spring-loaded lace spool to automatically retract lace cable slack for quick and efficient closure. Different lace guide radiuses are used to optimize closure force in specific areas of the boot.

UltraCush Lite is a custom version of foam developed specifically for improving comfort and reducing weight. UltraCush Lite is used in a variety of constructions and applications, ranging from outsoles and midsoles to footbeds and liners.

How it works: Perspiration is moved away from the foot surface by heat and mass transfer and into the specific Dri-Lex fabric in the lining. The fabric then works in conjunction with other materials to redistribute moisture to eliminate that heavy, damp feeling. Dri-Lex dries quickly, allowing fabric to retain its natural softness.
