So along with the listing of tech features that follows for each boot, you will find three different guides to help you narrow down the right options for you. From selecting a preferred flex to assessing your own skill level (and even the terrain style that you primarily ride) these guides are intended to take away some of the guesswork of finding the boot that best matches your needs.

Our flex rating provides a point reference for how boots within the Vans line compare in flexibility. A lower number designates a softerflexing boot; higher numbers designate a more supportive boot. Boots equipped with the Vans Flex Control System, PowerCuff Strap, and Hybrid Plus systems will have larger ranges indicating the scope of flex within which each boot can be adjusted.
A product franchise is a grouping of products based on similarities and common lineage. Think of it as an expandable family of products with a well-defined identity, making it easier to tell strong, consistent product stories. It’s optimal to select a boot that best fits the terrain that you ride most frequently.

If you haven’t, this once-in-a-lifetime Vans × Baldface limited-run boot is your ticket to finding out. Baldface is shred mecca, featuring a fully guided cat operation accessing 32,000 acres of untouched Kootenay powder. Founded in 1999 on the idea that the snowboard community needed an authentic, professional, and safe backcountry destination that they could call their own, Baldface has become the bucket list pilgrimage for those who stand sideways. Working directly with Baldface’s world-class team of guides, the objective of this very limited single season project was to build and outfit a boot that would perform while being adaptable to the many different terrain aspects of the region. From steep old-growth forests and open glades to sub-alpine bowls and pillow drops—the diverse terrain as understood by the guide team has helped to inform a completely new and unique offering from Vans.
