Viewed from above, the rooftop resembles a silver boat. At the street level the tower base flares inward to serve as a welcoming gesture, which is a subtle reference to the Chinese “people” character . The 120-meter bank tower has function of open office, executive office and clubhouse on top two floors; podium funtion includes bank, vault, auditorium, conference center and employee cafeteria.

The project incldues master planning for a ocean-front site of 25000 m2 and schematic design of the 100-meter office tower. The design language is inspired by tranditional wood barcket and developing into interlocking building geometry. The outdoor plaza and sunken garden between buildings create a gather space for company event and daily use for employees.

The project is a development combining transit center and commercial development. The design team works closely with traffic consultant on the bus and passenger circulation, creating a vertical layout to meet the function requirement. Main lobby at the corner orientes passengers to different levels efficiently. The 200-meter SOHO tower provides maximal investment return for developer.

COUNTERBALANCE

New Seattle Greyhound Bus Terminal ASCA Steel Structure Competition Entry 01/2010-03/2010, Tectonic Studio, UW Tutor: Rick Mohler Scope of work: concept, drawing, model, rendering

The site of the bus terminal is located the in the east side of SODO station, southeast of downtown Seattle, facing the Lander street in the south and 6th Ave. in the east. It provides an excellent view corridor to appreciate the skyline of Seattle within the site. The movement of light rail and metro buses to the west and the potential movement of Greyhound buses to the east suggest a strong north-west linear orientation of movement.
