Private label cosmetics suppliers need to re-think on luxury packaging
Though private label cosmetics owners are already bearing pressure to reduce the environmental impact on packaging, the suppliers and manufacturing companies are still making luxury a priority. Consumers are becoming more aware of sustainable environment and are interested in more sustainable lifestyle choices. Packaging manufacturers are responding by ensuring their processes and raw materials are as ecofriendly as possible. But they are not ready to compromise with luxury packaging trends. There is increasing industry and public pressure on luxury brand owners to lower the impact of packaging on environment. These implications are making the decision to use luxury packaging for cosmetics difficult and tending manufacturers to use more environmentally friendly materials like paperboard instead of plastic. Why does the concept of “responsible luxury act like an issue? Recognized brands and their clientele are more concerned about the look of the product instead of its eco-friendliness packaging. Customers expect to have luxury packaging as
it is very different from regular products available in the market. From cosmetics to confectionary, multi-material packaging contributes to the feeling of luxury. And such types of packaging include metalized plastic, glass and other materials, which is expensive and very difficult to recycle. What they are adopting to make luxury packaging more sustainable? Even if there are issues involved, in recent years people have made a move towards more sustainable practices in the luxury packaging market. What about customers who hardly care about sustainable packaging and more interested in luxury ones? Due to never-ending demand of luxurious packaging products, manufacturers are actively and continually making luxury packaging solutions which are more sustainable. They are using lightweight paperboard packaging materials. Companies are taking measures that will help them in balancing the environment and making sustainable approach towards it. While producing cosmetics products in metallic packaging, paperboard cartons or thin glass jars options work best for the environment. Many manufacturers of cosmetics have started using these options already. These packaging solutions may increase the cost of the product, but will also maintain luxury standards and eco-friendliness together.
