“Little food universe for kids to explore“

In the beginning of learning dining, exploring food is an imaginative experience for kids. The design is a set of tableware for children about 1~3 year(s) old,used at children’s restaurant. Meals are put into different container .Unit container is put on plates which can revolve and assemble to make them more interesting and easy to share, also create a more funny and interesting dining environment.

孩子剛開始學習吃飯的階段時,每個探 索食物的過程都是一次次充滿想像力 的體驗。而親子餐廳對於孩子來說,是 一個能夠沒有拘束又能與他人互動的 用餐空間。 因應此用餐環境而發展出適合學習用 餐階段幼兒(1~3歲)的系列餐具,以該 階段適合的食物當作主餐,手握單位容 器方便孩童進食,以積木旋轉及拼圖的 概念讓餐點看起來更加豐富有趣,創造 親子或孩子間的互動,營造更歡樂友善 的用餐空間。

Children’s restaurant is featured in their amusement facilities but the meals don’t correspond to parents’ expectation and children’s development. 親子餐廳大多以空間為主 題特色,部分餐廳的兒童餐 供餐不符合家長期待(不健 康或不好吃)或小孩發育( 速食或咬不動)

1~3歲的小孩/ 1歲到3歲的的小孩正處於開始學習自 己用餐的階段,一方面與食物培養感情 ,一方面培養用餐觀念,配合身體發展 學習使用餐具。 因此這階段的小孩在外面用餐時,也更 需要一個良好的用餐環境可以快樂且 合適的用餐。

Children's resaurant is a public dining space which is unstrained for kids and parents don't worry about bothering others.Some of this kind of restaurant put their emphasis on space features but ignore the dining environment or meals quality. I worked on making dining environment a

Children at 1-3 year(s) old begin leaning to dining by themselves. They build emotion with food, establish punctual dining concept, try to use tableware when they growing up. Therefore, when children at this age dine outside, they also need a good and friendly dining environment .

● 認識食物質感,牙齒發展

開 始 使 用 湯 匙 叉 子 Spoon&Fork ● Spoon can be used well at about 2 years old. ● Way of holding utensils changes gradually. ● 2歲半湯匙可以用的不錯,但偶有掉落 ● 握法從直接握住湯匙柄逐漸改為用食指,中指,拇指握住

親子餐廳是一個能提供小孩一個無拘 束,家長較不擔心打擾別人的公共用餐 空間,然而用餐部分,部分親子餐廳著重 空間上的趣味卻在用餐不夠用心,使兒 童餐成為配角,我希望能更著力於用餐 的部分,將營造歡樂期待,形成互動等親 子餐廳的特質更體現在餐桌上。

● Eating with hands is more suitable for children's hand development. ● Create association with food's texture. ● Finger food is cooked in the shape of strips or lumps.

● 符合手部發育,刺激手指抓握

● Soft food is made of mashed materials. ● Soft food is suitable for children’s teeth development

● 通常為泥狀等軟質食物

● 敏銳觸覺感知,增加與食物質地的連結

● 符合牙齒發育

● 分成塊狀和條狀

因此在食物的選擇方面,主要以符合手 部發育的手指食物以及牙齒發育的軟 質食物為主餐。另外,餐點的份量也要 適中以免孩子吃不完或引起壓力。

The restaurant only focuses on amusement facilities. Children’s meals are ignored even not suitable for kids’ development.

Thinking Process

Modular revolving plates

Considering the main meals, I hope the appearance can give children imagination, and avoid pressure from excessive food. I separate foods in many unit containers.

Plates is assembled in the way of bolt, can be assembled into different appearance. Containers can be put on the plate which can be revolved to different direction so kids can share food with other or grab them.

To create interaction, I try some shapes that looks like toys or mechanical devices. Considering dining scenarios and intuitive usage, I decide to make it able to revolve to share and tessellation of plates.

模組化餐盤 餐盤以積木插銷的方式組裝,方便餐廳以多種方式組裝擺盤,以「旋轉」作為互動 的外型依據,將容器放在可以組裝旋轉的餐盤上,小孩可以透過旋轉的方式,改變擺 盤上容器的方向,分享或拿取餐點。餐盤底盤則是不規則的形狀但可以拼湊起來, 靠近後的多組餐盤有更豐富的視覺效果。

Unit container Unit containers can separate the quantity of foods. Children can also control the quantity they want to eat by add or reduce container. The container can be also easy to grab and share. 以手指食物,軟質食物,飲料,及餐盤分類。而泥狀食物被分散在軟質的矽膠單位容 器裡,可以擠壓取食。 單位容器可分散食量,也可以單位的方式增加或減少食物分量,同時也方便小孩抓 握取食及分享。

Through the revolvement and the plating of the dishes,the dining atmosphere becomes creative and thus enhance children’s interest in eating. r藉由旋轉以及餐點的擺盤,讓整個用餐 的氛圍具有想像力,能藉由邊吃邊玩增 加對用餐的興趣
