This event will be a profound opportunity to immerse yourself in the pioneering self-care health system of The Qigong Teacher Training School (QTTS). It will actualise your personal mission whether it be self-cultivation or teaching, and to launch your participation as a Qi cultivation professional in the new generation of mind-body exercise.

THE QIGONG TEACHER TRAINING SCHOOL METHOD - moved The Qigong Teacher Training School (QTTS) draws from authentic Qigong and movement education ‘moved’. moved contains all original concepts and benefits associated with traditional Qigong, taught using methods, terms and expressions that modern western individuals can associate with and understand.

The QTTS programme was created by carefully reviewing many of the most popular, prevalent and beneficial forms of Qigong and backed by years of successfully teaching and integrating pioneering western health concepts. This creates a unique secular self-care health system that engages the ‘whole’: body, mind and spirit.

moved follows the Way of Nature, a deeper understanding of your body's inherent and intrinsic wisdom and capacities in an experiential exploration in nature, science and anatomy. Being moved will increase your body literacy, which is the ability to listen, understand and consciously respond to the signals of your body and develop body awareness through 21st century methods.

moved is a clever system that offers a path to integrate the body, mind, emotional self and spirit.

Grounded in traditional Qigong, moved is a passionate and stimulating way to gain physical and mental health, wellbeing and personal growth. It is a way to discover one's own deeper meaning, value and depth in living.

What is unique to QTTS is the innovative integration of ancient Eastern practices with modern Western methods. Drawn from three discerning disciplines: 1. Taoist Water Method, the first and purest original branch of Qigong, which began to create and establish Qigong as a complete self-care health system. This became the foundation for Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, self-healing energy work, tai chi and associated therapies such as Shiatsu and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

2. Zen principles on mindfulness, living in the present and simplifying life. Applying these principles, we can learn to live happily in the present moment instead of getting lost in the past or worrying about the future. Dwelling in the present moment, is the only way to truly develop peace, both in oneself and in the world, and is a practice that provides us with the opportunity to transform our suffering.

3. Structural Integration using the Anatomy Trains Concept. Applying the missing link of understanding the fascial whole-body connections through our Qigong movement.

Integrating this fascinating and essential subject allows for our inherent Qigong body to connect deeper to our practice.

WHY THE QIGONG TEACHER TRAINING SCHOOL METHOD? Due to its inaccessibility and complexity, many people haven’t heard of Qigong, as perhaps they have with the plentiful Yoga practices, and therefore haven’t experienced it’s wonderful Way. Unlike Yoga with its sometimes uncomfortable stretches, Qigong is not as demanding on the body and not as exacting as the martial art forms of Tai Chi. Yet Qigong is the original all-in-one health care system that is shrouded in over 5000 years of tradition with countless health benefits.

We aim to demystify and illuminate Qigong, and make it accessible and obtainable to everyone to improve the quality of life for people of all ages, from all backgrounds – whether well or unwell.

It is suitable for those wishing for a ‘self-care’ practice which is constantly adapting to their lifestyle providing a clever wholesome mind-body exercise. Including those who may want to address specific illnesses such as chronic pain, limited mobility, deficient immune systems, anxiety or depression. This method includes techniques and exercises that improve mobility, breathing and relaxation. The movements are totally adaptable, which makes it fun, easy and comfortable to learn. This encourages people of all levels and abilities to learn and participate.

As an integrated practice, moved leads to developing a loving, healthy lifestyle, and provides both traditional and non-traditional results such as: increased awareness and sensitivity, organ conditioning, energy rejuvenation, joint, muscle and spinal flexibility, and clarity of mind.

Students and practitioners will develop their abilities to focus and concentrate in a deep state of relaxation through breathing practices, movement, meditation and self-massage, providing simple, effective self-care skills that can be used throughout life.

THE QIGONG TEACHER TRAINING SCHOOL TECHNIQUE QTTS uses our own intelligent and intuitive technique, The Way To Be, which underlies all our practices. The Way To Be is a set of skills delivered as a self-care toolbox. These tools are designed to release the tension from the entire nervous system (including the fascia, sinews, tendons, ligaments and muscles).

THE WAY TO BE TOOLBOX The Awakening Tool, is a way to awaken the energy and consciousness in the body. The shaking movement can help us open our energy gates and meridians - the energy channels in the body. The technique of shaking the body is associated with new energy and new life.

The Standing Tool is absolute peace - void of any movement, thought or activity - and complete nothingness. It allows for the reduction of tension, even deep unconscious body tension, which usually goes, undetected. Often we are unaware of these “background” tensions but by the time we discover their unhealthy effect on us, it is too late.

The Scanning Tool is your imaginary silent best friend giving you an objective, non-judgmental observation of your inner-self. It is an internal review of how you ‘really’ feel inside.

The Sensational Listening Tool is a daily approach to self-awareness, discovery and healing. It is lifestyle practice helping you recognise and understand when you feel out of sync or generally uncomfortable. You become more aware, more effective in communicating and more efficient in processing information.

The Breathing Tool, is designed to activate the diaphragm muscle and improve the functioning of your internal organs - liver, kidneys, heart, spleen and lungs. By expanding the lungs we invoke the body's innate ‘relaxation response.’

The Dissolving Tool is a lost and rarely taught component in Qigong, however an essential one to achieve the ‘true’ Qi state. A complete union of mind and body are experienced using this tool.

But its true quality cannot be explained in rational words only understood through its practice.

The Stimuless Tool is accessed by the eyes, known as the ‘windows to the soul and spirit.’

Everyday through our eyes, our nervous system is bombarded with stimuli from books, television, signs, mobile phones, computers and all kinds of modern technology. This tool soothes and calms the entire nervous system.

Typically a moved class lasts an hour and a half. It will include stillness, breathing, applying The Way To Be Toolbox, Qigong forms, laughter and discussion.

The moved experience is how we describe the sensation of taking a Qigong class. The most important thing is not the form or the movement, but the state of being, the Qi state, in which you do the movement. The Qi state is accessed through purposeful attention to posture, movement, breath and focused awareness. So, we relax and enjoy doing these movements however they come out. Bring your attention to the actuality of the present moment. Step into your own joyful journey with Qigong, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME Qigong teachers, Qigong Teacher Training School teachers, are currently in high demand in the Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) sector for their clarity and precision of instruction, as well as their technical skills, abilities and compassionate approach.

The programme provides comprehensive training in the QTTS method, where students will build a solid foundation through either the Self-Cultivation track or the Teacher Training track with the option to teach Qigong classes with confidence and ease. We strive to create a learning environment which is stimulating, challenging and spiritually nourishing.

Through experiential learning you will practice and teach sets that combine gentle movement, breathing and mindful intention. In addition students will learn Eastern and Western theories and practice through specialised subjects delivered by expert guest tutors.

QTTS TWO TRACKS OF LEARNING SELF-CULTIVATION CERTIFICATE (126 contact hours + 139 hours home practice and eLearning + reading = minimum 265 hours) This track focuses the Qigong Teacher Training School self-cultivation practices, along with relevant theory and history, to deepen students' understanding of how to use moved as a tool for the physical body, the emotional/energetic body and the spiritual body.

Perfect for those looking to integrate balance, harmony and vitality through Qigong into their daily lives.

Students will learn a wide variety of dynamic and static Qigong forms, and choose for themselves which form(s) they will use in their personal home practice.

Once you have passed your self-cultivation certificate you can then chose to go on to the Teacher Training Diploma by successfully attending and completing the additional teacher training modules. These must be completed within 24 months of your certificate.

The QTTS Self-Cultivation Certificate Programme is taught over 10 months (9 weekends), beginning in March 2015 and finishing in December 2015. Classes are held Saturdays (11-6) and Sundays (9-4) unless otherwise noted.

TEACHER TRAINING DIPLOMA (210 contact hours + 325 hours home practice and eLearning + reading = minimum 535 hours) This track focuses on the teaching applications of the Qigong Teacher Training School programme. In addition to the Self-Cultivation Certificate, students will learn how to use and teach the wide variety of moved practices in a class environment.

Students will undertake online certified programmes and attend additional ‘teaching methodology’ modules in order to graduate and become a teacher.

Once the student has completed the Teacher Training Diploma, he or she is eligible to become a CERTIFIED moved teacher from the School of Qigong Teacher Training School. This means that the student will have reached a depth of understanding necessary to teach Qigong classes to the public. Most importantly, throughout the programme, the student will have benefited from his or her own self-cultivation, and these benefits immediately ripple out into the student's professional and personal life.

The QTTS Teacher Training Diploma Program is taught over 17 months (15 weekends), beginning in March 2015 and finishing in July 2016. Classes are held Saturdays (11-6) and Sundays (9-4) unless otherwise noted.

This weekend serves to those considering becoming a QTTS Teacher or starting on your SelfCultivation journey. The weekend will be an insight to being moved with the various forms we teach including The Way To Be, you will get a feel for A PLACE TO BE our wellbeing studio and just as importantly how you connect with your teacher and founder of QTTS. Once you have a flavour and taste of moved you will be taken deeper into your practice, putting your newly learnt tools into action and initiating your Qi state and relaxation response. Time for questions about the programs and individually interviews will also be held as well as an opportunity to discover the beautiful city of Norwich.

The weekend includes a light vegetarian lunch on both days and specialist Chinese teas to enhance your experience. The cost of the weekend is £150 which will be reimbursed if you sign up to the program on the weekend (accommodation is not included). COMBINED MODULES FOR BOTH THE TEACHER TRAINING DIPLOMA AND SELF-CULTIVATION CERTIFICATE:

INTRODUCTION TO QIGONG FOUNDATIONS Qigong is introduced as a process of living in the present moment through awakening our physical, psychological and spiritual capacities. Students explore the multifaceted levels of QTTS practices to develop a home practice that will support personal growth throughout the programme.

QIGONG HISTORY, THEORY AND PHILOSOPHY (SELF-STUDY) Students learn an overview of the 5,000 year-old history of Qigong, exploring the major scriptures and texts that lay the foundation for the practice. Teacher trainees are introduced to the important philosophical concepts and texts including: the illustrated Tao de Ching, Secret of the Golden Flower and many more.

QTTS QIGONG FORMS Five Treasures Qigong Five Treasures Qigong is the core part of our programme because it teaches the fundamentals of how to activate and harness qi, your life-force energy, to improve health, mobility and suppleness whilst reducing stress. These fundamental Qigong exercises improve qi flow, posture and balance, and loosen tension in muscles, joints, ligaments and internal organs. The Five Treasures Qigong is composed of five sequential exercises: The Lower Jiao Exercise | The Middle Jiao Exercise | The Upper Jiao Exercise The Taoist Spine (and neck) Lengthening | Cloud Hands Exercise The techniques and exercises of Five Treasures Qigong form the foundation for the health and power aspects of moved. By learning and practising Five Treasures Qigong, you'll take the most important first step toward genuine, lifelong health and vibrancy.

Fundamentals Qigong: These fundamental energy exercises are designed to align the body, open the key energy centres and ensure that a smooth flow of internal energy is maintained throughout the body. Five Elements Qi Gong: These are simple Qi Gong exercises based upon the movement of the five elements within the body. Their key function is to regulate the pulses of internal energy which run through the body governing the connection between our mind and our body.

Heaven and Earth Qigong: This simple yet favourite form bridges the beginning and advanced work within the MOVED Method. Heaven and Earth Qigong includes, pulsing the joints and opening/closing the body.

Leading and Guiding Qigong: These are more elongated, stretching exercises which use physical opening movements combined with directed intention and powerful breathing techniques. They are designed to purge stagnant toxins from the body which will in turn lead to a greater level of internal well-being.

At the heart of this module is the concept of Anatomy Trains, an understanding of which allows us to catch up with the paradigm shift in how we look at fascia and what it means for movement, health and dysfunction. Learn to use the Anatomy Trains concept to comprehend the larger pattern of your students’ structural relationships. Set the once divided aspects of qi, fascia, viscera and musculoskeletal system into a contextual whole within your Qigong practice.

INTEGRATED ANATOMY / MOVEMENT EDUCATION Integrate the skills and knowledge from the anatomy and physiology module into your Qigong practice. Learn to apply the theories of Anatomy Trains and fascial training into your practice.

Understand detailed, assessment principles. Apply the principles of integrated movement and biomechanics in both a Qigong context and in everyday movements, from walking to answering the phone. Find out how we can manipulate our meridians, and thereby our fascial system through movement. Gain an understanding of how Qigong works from a western scientific view and be able to explain this to others.

TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE An insight into the foundations for Oriental medicine, specifically tailored for QTTS practitioners: yin-yang, five elements, vital substances, zang-fu, food and more.

PROPRIOCEPTION (SELF-STUDY) Using the latest neuroscience, somatics, connective tissue and pain research, we’ll examine simple but powerfully tangible ways to include body/mind awareness in a bodywork context. Relevant to working with chronic pain, emotional wellbeing, stress and any other issues with a body/mind dimension.

ETHICS FOR THE REAL WORLD (SELF-STUDY) This series uses real-life scenarios to give students a new understanding about the power and potential of the client/practitioner relationship. The focus is on fresh perspectives relating to boundaries, money, effectiveness and other real-world issues.

SPECIALISED MODULES FOR THE TEACHER TRAINING DIPLOMA QIGONG TRAINING PRACTICES AND TECHNIQUES 1 Students learn the purpose and benefits of Qigong classes. Trainees learn techniques to develop their personal power, presence and projection as Qigong teachers.

QIGONG TRAINING PRACTICES AND TECHNIQUES 2

Trainees develop a sound understanding of the benefits, contraindications and modifications of practice. Particular attention will be given to understanding the language of forms, principles of flow, and how movement and alignment affect the psychosomatic and energy systems. This study directs teacher trainees towards steadiness, ease of movement and flow.

QIGONG TEACHING METHODOLOGY 1 Optimal Qigong class sequencing is emphasised: Students learn the principles of observation, demonstration and verbal cueing for Qigong movement and postures so that students can selfcorrect and experience the adjustment in their own body. Students develop confidence in teaching through practice, observation, demonstration, dialogue and group work.

QIGONG TEACHING METHODOLOGY 2 Embodiment of personal practice, clarity and conscious communication are necessary tools required to teach professional Qigong classes. By learning and applying these methods, teacher trainees are able to electively demonstrate and teach Qigong techniques, creating a peaceful and non-competitive class environment. They will also learn self-discovery techniques such as contemplative journaling, dialogue and group discussion.

QIGONG TEACHER TRAINING COMPREHENSIVE Students final practicum will be teaching a beginners Qigong class using the skills and techniques learned throughout the teacher training course. Additional topics covered throughout the course are: ethical behaviour and the identity of a QTTS teacher, roles and responsibilities inside and outside the class setting, and meeting the challenges of teaching Qigong. Students will learn the business, marketing and financial aspects of class development.

QIGONG PRACTICE Developing an on-going Qigong practice is an essential part of teaching the art and science of Qigong. After each weekend module there is required self-study, reading and daily journaled Qigong practice.

FIRST AID TRAINING / CPR During your programme you will be required to complete a basic/emergency first aid training certificate before you can graduate (cost not included). We have decided to allow trainees to do this themselves so that it can be done closer to home and in their own time.

ASSESSMENT AND GRADUATION

Students will be assessed through continuous tutor assessment, self assessment and submission of home study exercises and projects. Students will graduate upon successful completion of these elements and are able to demonstrate confidence in delivering all the elements of the MOVED method.

YEARLY REFRESHER !

Upon successful completion of your Teacher Training Diploma, you will be required to attend a yearly refresher weekend. You will also be asked to arrange a convenient yearly visit by Deniz or a QTTS senior teacher to attend one of your regular classes to observe and mentor your teaching.
