Working in conjunction with the gallery on the above floor, the café displays modern and quaint interiors along with several artistic pieces. Tobias Jerling of Hidden Cellar Welcoming visitors at the beginning of Gyeongridan street is the Hidden Cellar liquor store and bar. Its cozy interiors and casual atmosphere, where you can walk up to the fridge, grab a drink, and take it to go or sip it at the bar, make it the ideal place to relax with friends. Running the enterprise is Tobias Jerling, who hails from South Africa and brings his passion for New World wines and great scotch to people in Korea. “There isn’t enough justice done for New World wines,” says Tobias. “A lot of places sell French wine, but I like doing something different.” Since he imports the wines from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Chile, he can offer the bar’s popular wine on tap for just W12,500 for a bottle. Hard, heavy metal rock is a rare jewel among the Korean indie scene, and Harry Big Button far exceeds expectations. Named after the British slang for a cheap-looking, vintage car stereo with chunky big buttons, Harry Big Button deftly combines vintage influences with modern styles to create their own unique take of post-hard rock music. Formed in 2011, it is currently made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Sungsoo Lee, Neil Smith on bass, and Taegi Keem on drums. Take a listen to the energetic and lively “Perfect Storm” EP to get a taste of their powerful vocals and heavy instrumentals. Inspired by surrounding friends, relationships, current affairs, and the inner voice from deep within, you’ll sense the passion and energy that the band carries. Going forward, the band plans on releasing a new album and creating unique shows for their audience.
