A BRIEF HIATUS After spending the last five years on the road, 5SOS took a brief break in 2017. They spent a lot of time in the studio and enjoying time with loved ones. In January, the band was featured in ONE OK ROCK’s “Take What You Want,” and Luke adopted the infamous Petunia. Come February, news broke that 5SOS would be joining a series of festivals across the world – from Russia to Peru, 5SOS was gearing up to spend some time on the road that Fall. 5SOS also won “Worst Band” at the NME Awards (again), and Girls Talk Boys was nominated as the Best Movie Soundtrack for the Most Played Songs Online Awards. Later that Spring, the band officially announced their full summer tour that would take place in some countries of Asia, northern Europe and South America. The first show was planned for August 13 in Incheon, South Korea, finishing in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, on September 15, performing at the Rock in Rio festival. Throughout the Spring and Summer, 5SOS spent most of their time in the studio with producers such as Andrew Watt, creating the long-awaited 5SOS3. The band teased fans with new music throughout the year, but they would have to wait a while longer before getting a glimpse into the newest (and biggest) 5SOS era.

2017 FESTIVAL SEASON In August and September, 5SOS performed 12 shows across the world to hundreds of thousands of fans. And on September 15, they played an hour-long set to 100,000 people in person and millions across the globe via livestream. 5SOS rounded out the year by spending time in the studio and with their friends and family. This was the first time the band had taken such a long break, but looking toward 2018, they definitely needed the time off before the biggest year of their career.

MEET THE FANS Kayla E (@KaylaEMusic) Kayla became a 5SOS fan on August 23, 2019, after seeing a gif of Harry Styles dancing with Ashton. She has not yet seen them on tour, but is planning to see them in New Jersey on the No Shame Tour. All of her favorite 5SOS moments are from their tour diaries. She really just loves to see them be able to mess around and have fun. The best thing about 5SOS in her opinion are their personalities and their music. Her favorite 5SOS song is The Only Reason. She would like to thank them for helping her through all of the difficult times in her life. They’ve helped her from 2019 through now, which was the toughest time in her life. She is very grateful for the band.
