Auto Refining Developer System (ARDS) Konica Minolta developed ARDS, its unique Auto Refining Developer System, to ensure constant high image quality and yet maximise consumables yield. The innovative ARDS technology regularly refreshes the toner and the carrier inside the bizhub PRO C652DS. Proprietary Simitri® HD toner With its tiny and uniformly shaped toner particles Konica Minolta’s polymerised toner development, Simitri® HD, achieves an excellent image quality. Fiery ColorWise & ColorWise ProTools With EFI Fiery ColorWise, colour processing is automatic and takes place only once – in-RIP at the Fiery in the printer, not in the workstation. Because Fiery ColorWise maximises colour quality quickly and intelligently, work flows smoothly, print job generation is faster, and the operator’s PC is available again sooner enhancing overall productivity. ColorWise offers great out-of-the-box colour, with features that convert raw files to stunning colour prints quickly, easily, and consistently.
Fiery Spot-On® This intuitive interface for the conceptualising and modifying of spot colours ensures colour precision and colour consistency. Each customised colour is calibrated for Pantone, HKS, DIC and Toyo, with calibration completely independent of the system. Essential for the uniform appearance of specified colours e.g. logos, the colours within a document are sure to visually match perfectly if this valuable tool is applied.

Calibration and EFI Color Profiler (optional) For absolute accuracy in colour reproduction, the perfect calibration of the controller and the output device is essential. Besides standard calibration with EFi ColorCal, a specially designed calibration chart that is printed and then scanned on the bizhub, the IC-412 can be optionally equipped with the EFI Color Profiler. This is the ideal utility for expert fine-tuning to guarantee the consistency of colour output in the bizhub PRO C652DS: This handheld spectrometer ensures professional calibration, stabilising and enhancing the output quality. As a densitometer it supports the direct linear calibration of output devices within the ColorWise utility. As a spectralphotometer it provides the creation of printer output profiles that comply with the International Color Consortium standards (ICC). The highly desirable support of Fiery Spot-On® is also included: Specific spot and custom colours can be measured directly and then refined with the Delta E values resulting from the direct comparison between the original and the print. The creation and adjustment of monitor profiles completes this comprehensive utility. As another alternative, the Fiery IC-412 also supports the X-Rite spectralphotometers.
Variable Data Printing (VDP) Serial letters and direct mailings are a welcome advanced feature and easily produced on the bizhub PRO C652DS. In combination with the IC-412, the use of a typical VDP application such as Printshop Mail enables multiple masters and a pre-defined workflow. Thus complex variable data jobs remain professionally presented while requiring little preparation time.
Command WorkStation® With the Command WorkStation®, the Fiery IC-412 offers a powerful advanced platform that combines remarkable convenience with excellent and highly functional graphics features. The Fiery Command WorkStation® sets new standards and makes printing more productive, intuitive and flexible. It centralises job management, connects to all Fiery® servers on the network and achieves perfect results in next to no time. The intuitive interface makes complexity simple while the flexible software adapts to any environment. Facilitating the setup, management and control of jobs, the Job Center area of the Command WorkStation® keeps the operator organised and productive. All jobs sent to the Fiery server can be viewed and managed in this centralised location. Integrated, fast and flexible previews are an important feature to minimise printing errors and waste. The operator benefits from navigating through job pages while viewing other critical information in the Job Center; can preview processed jobs, adding, deleting, and merging pages from other jobs with easy drag & drop; and can see the job content on individual pages as well as navigate through the entire document with SeeQuence Preview.

Versatile media capabilities Media processing on the bizhub PRO C652DS is convenient and flexible: The generous paper supply of up to 6,150 sheets in combination with the possibility to refill paper during production enables operators to complete even higher-volume jobs without interruption. Paper sizes from A6 to A3 full bleed, paper qualities of up to 300 gsm as well as special media are all processed without hitch, same as customised sizes, including banner printing on individual sheets of up to 1.2 metres length.
Attractive finishing choices The bizhub PRO C652DS comes in two preconfigured versions to answer different needs with regard to performance and finishing. Equipped with staple finisher and booklet finisher, the bizhub PRO C652DS 50 offers corner and side stapling for up to 50 sheets as well as inline booklet production of half-folded and saddlestitched brochures and booklets with up to 60 pages (15 sheets). This modular finisher can be upgraded with punching, ideal for reports, meeting minutes and similar documents. On the bizhub PRO C652DS 100, a staple finisher offers multi-position stapling of up to 100 sheets, and 2- and 4-hole punching for manuals, reports, etc. The booklet finisher in this product version features endless booklet production with half-fold and saddle-stitching
for booklets of up to 80 pages (20 sheets). A letterfold functionality, equally with endless capacity, is perfect for the timesaving automatic folding of invoices, mailings and similar prints. An optional post inserter adds preprinted covers to documents; and the optional z-fold unit provides automatic folding of A3 charts and tables to A4 size.
ORU-M and CS Remote Care Konica Minolta’s ORU-M approach helps avoid unwelcome standstills and production interruptions: The Operator-Replaceable Unit Management concept enables print providers and CRD operators to carry out preventive system care as well as a certain amount of parts replacement without technical assistance from Konica Minolta. This self-maintenance keeps image quality at a constant high level and reduces system downtime enormously. Pro-active and highly flexible service support is ensured with CS Remote Care. Konica Minolta’s remote monitoring application helps keep the bizhub PRO C652DS running smoothly, minimising interruptions and maximising system availability. All relevant system data are transmitted directly to the Konica Minolta service in an automated process that never needs user intervention. With constant analysis of the system performance CS Remote Care enables automated reporting and preventive maintenance, effectively assuring maximum system uptime.

Its high-speed duplex scanner makes the bizhub PRO C652DS an ideal central input tool, e.g. to capture paper-based information for use in internal workflows, for efficient document archiving, and integration into Document Management Systems.
Konica Minolta’s bizhub Extended Solution Technology (bEST) facilitates the complete integration of the bizhub PRO C652DS into customer environments, which is of particular interest to document-intensive business areas, such as logistics, manufacturing, legal or healthcare. bEST enables operators to start e.g. document capturing and archiving workflows directly at the bizhub panel, inputting all required information like document type and additional index fields during the scan process so that post-treatment of the scans in the PC is no longer required.
The bizhub PRO C652DS scans up to 156 images per minute and, combined with Konica Minolta’s versatile capturing applications, is perfect for highvolume scanning e.g. in CRDs and in-house document processing centres. The functionality includes scan to eMail, FTP, SMB and user box; and the scan formats JPEG, multi-page PDF, XPS and TIFF as well as compact PDF and compact XPS. The latter provide considerably reduced file sizes that help to ease network traffic and speed up communication.
Under the roof of bEST, numerous applications such as the Document Navigator provide intelligent image processing and distribution capabilities, ensuring e.g. the fast conversion of scanned documents into desired formats as well as automatic routing to a chosen network location. Connectors facilitate the bizhub PRO C652DS’s full integration into CRM, ERP and DMS systems. i-Option and bEST OpenAPI enable complete customisation of the operator panel, while bEST Personal Share provides the direct link from the bizhub to the comprehensive MicroSoft SharePoint functionality.

System configurations The bizhub PRO C652DS is offered in two preconfigured versions to support different needs with regard to performance and finishing. The bizhub PRO C652DS 50 offers basic finishing capabilities as entry level unit and the capability to feed banner paper of a max length of 1.2 metres. The bizhub PRO C652DS 100 offers more advanced finishing plus optional post insertion and z-fold capabilities. For both models, the print functionality can be enhanced with various options for the Fiery IC-412 print controller, as well as features to extend the scan capabilities for central scanning workflows, e.g. in CRDs.
bizhub PRO C652DS 50 ■ Main configuration The bizhub PRO C652DS 50 is equipped with the staple finisher FS-527 and the saddle kit SD-509 offering corner and side stapling, as well as inline booklet production providing half-fold and saddle-stitching for up to 15 sheets (60 pages). The maximum output capacity of the FS-527 is 3,200 sheets and 75 sheets for the booklet tray. The automatic duplex unit supports up to A3 full bleed and 256 gsm paper is also standard in this version. The bizhub PRO C652DS 50 further supports mixmedia and mixplex for complex job creation. Printing options ■ Large capacity tray (LU-204) Equipped with the LU-204, the standard paper capacity can be increased from 3,650 sheets to 6,150 sheets. The LU-204 supports paper sizes from A4 to A3 full bleed and a paper weight of max. 256 gsm.
■ Job separator (JS-603) The JS-603 offers a third output tray for the finisher to separate specific print jobs from the main tray.
■ Banner tray (BT-C1) The BT-C1 supports the printing of banner paper for multiple prints. Up to 30 banners of up to 1.2 m length (297 mm height) can be printed in one run.

bizhub PRO C652DS 100 ■ Main configuration The bizhub PRO C652DS 100 is equipped with the staple finisher FS-526 and the saddle kit SD-508 offering corner and side stapling, as well as inline booklet production providing half-fold and saddle-stitching for up to 20 sheets (80 pages). In addition to the half-fold functionality, the finisher is capable to tri-fold (letter fold) output. The maximum output capacity of the FS-526 is 3,100 sheets and 100 sheets to unlimited for the booklet tray which is equipped with a built-in transport belt. The automatic duplex unit and a large capacity tray, both supporting up to A3 full bleed and 256 gsm paper, are also standard in this version. Together with the LU-204 this extends the paper capacity to a maximum of 6,150 sheets. The bizhub PRO C652DS 100 further supports mixmedia and mixplex for complex job creation. Printing options ■ Post inserter (PI-505) With the post inserter it is possible to insert e.g. preprinted cover sheets into the document before the final finishing process. Two input trays with a capacity of 200 sheets each are available.
