Press release Monochrome professionals for corporate workflows – the Konica Minolta bizhub 423 series Langenhagen, Germany, May 2010 Konica Minolta especially developed its new A3 multifunctional products for modern offices in which colour output is not always required, but colour input is essential. Therefore, the bizhub models 223, 283, 363 and 423 offer comprehensive monochrome copying, printing and faxing together with versatile colour scanning functions. Combined with Konica Minolta’s software applications the new office systems are the ideal tools for efficient document capture and distribution workflows. This helps to save time and reduce costs for workgroups and departments in virtually any corporate environment, for example in accounting, controlling and personnel.

“Modern businesses require office solutions which streamline and facilitate daily workflows, for example administrative and document archiving processes,” says Karsten Wiebking, Product Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “With our complete bizhub line-up we offer standardised tools with the ability to adapt to and interact with individual customer workflows. This flexible approach provides optimal tailored solutions for specific office needs, considering different input and output requirements such as print and scan speeds or document sizes, for example.”

As true A3 MFPs the bizhub 423 series – comprising the models bizhub 223, 283, 363 and 423 – delivers full office communication with monochrome printing, copying and faxing as well as colour scanning. Output speeds range from 22 to 42 pages per

minute, enhancing existing fleets with the appropriate capabilities. With its versatile scanning features the new bizhubs make separate scan stations obsolete. All four devices scan up to 70 originals per minute in both colour and monochrome. The standard scanning functionalities include scan-to-email, FTP, SMB, Box, USB and TWAIN. Of course the new multifunctional devices process all relevant formats, such as JPEG, TIFF, PDF, compact PDF, XPS and compact XPS.

The bizhub 423 series features Konica Minolta’s bizhub Extended Solution Technology (bEST). On this basis users can optionally upgraded the devices to seamlessly integrate various software applications without any additional hardware. For example, document archiving workflows can be started straight from the bizhub: by including all required information like document type and additional index fields directly at the device’s panel, no further treatment of the scans in the PC is needed.

In addition to supporting scan applications, bEST also enables other important workflows in corporate environments including accounting, authentication and followme printing. The PageScope Account Manager, for example, streamlines the central monitoring and collection of counter readings from all registered devices, helping to realise savings. With the PageScope User Authentication Manager administrators conveniently manage user databases and user rights such as output volume limitations. Authentication is also the precondition for follow-me printing, which allows confidential document output from any device of the print fleet.

“Our new MFPs perfectly complement our bizhub portfolio that covers monochrome print speeds up to 75 ppm and colour printing with up to 50 ppm,” explains Karsten Wiebking. “All devices can be enhanced with extended applications and comprise the benefits of the bizhub Open Platform (OP) concept offering similar operation and feature sets. This integrated approach makes it easy to create unified internal processes and identical workflows in corporate environments. These solutions simplify and speed up procedures, and enhance productivity thereby saving company expenses.”
