Press release European market’s widest dreams come true – with the KIP C7800 colour printer Langenhagen, Germany, April 2012 Konica Minolta is launching a new wide format colour printer in the European market – the KIP C7800. With this new device the imaging expert is further strengthening its portfolio in this segment. The wide format portfolio now for the first time encompasses a full set of monochrome and colour solutions for users and print providers who require the highest levels of quality, speed and cost-efficiency. The KIP C7800 will be on display at drupa 2012.
The KIP C7800 is one of five devices that define Konica Minolta’s second-generation wide format portfolio. Among the monochrome devices KIP 700m, KIP 7100 and KIP 7700/7900, the KIP C7800 is the only hybrid colour and monochrome LED printer – a powerful print production solution for technical and engineering documents, manufacturing plans and schematics, architectural renderings and maps. Equipped with Linux-based Raster Image Processing (RIP) software from Caldera, the KIP C7800 is targeting graphic arts customers, especially for the poster printing market. Based on a unique LED printing design that cuts the operational costs of high-quality colour and black and white (b/w) printing, the KIP C7800 delivers 600 x 2,400 dots per inch (dpi) resolution at print speeds of up to 390 square metres per hour in monochrome and 325 square metres per hour in colour. To increase productivity, this new production print system offers a media capacity of 480 square metres, with three roll decks and an auto sheet feeder that allows users to mix print sizes at full production speed and ensures enhanced versatility for handling special media. In monochrome-only mode, print media completely bypass all colour imaging units. This process cuts the overall operation cost for affordable monochrome CAD prints.

Further highlights of the KIP C7800 are for example the CMYK toner that has a total capacity of 4,000 grams, allowing longer, uninterrupted print runs, a touchscreen interface for operational convenience and the exclusive single-belt drive system for automatic media calibrations. An ergonomic spindle system simplifies the process of loading paper rolls. The three integrated, auto-loading media roll drawers provide ultra-fast switching between rolls for collated sets of varying sizes or media types. The KIP C7800 also offers versatile production advantages via upgrade, including cloud-based printing, scan and copy functionality as well as fully integrated stacking and folding. Professional colour and plot management options of the KIP reprocontrol.net software round off the systems capabilities, offering a complete solution for all kind of technical applications – including outdoor applications thanks to waterproof and lightfast toner technology. All KIP series 7 systems feature a comprehensive software suite – IPS 7.4, including KIP Color RIP (raster imager processing) for advanced colour management and the KIP Cost Review Application for cost management and accounting. All systems also offer PC and web-based viewing and printing of documents. In addition, KIP Cloud Printing provides direct email-based accessibility that does not require intermediate servers, allowing total document privacy and security for printing from any connected device. Certified drivers for Windows and AutoCAD deliver optimal compatibility. “The KIP C7800 offers low cost of operation with LED technology, offering end-users in need of wide format colour printing real productivity and cost benefits,” says Anja Schappert, Product Manager, Wide Format Solutions, at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “This printer is a keystone of our wide format portfolio, now offering a solution for every requirement of the wide format market.” The KIP C7800 will be on display at drupa 2012 from 3 to 6 May 2012 in Düsseldorf. Konica Minolta’s booth B78-1 will be in Hall 8b.
