Konica Minolta joins Cloud Printing Alliance Langenhagen, Germany, March 2011 The world of cloud computing is at present essentially a world of mobile workers. Business people on the go need access to data, applications and services anywhere, whether they are at the airport or in the office. A key to this technology is mobile devices like the iPhone or the BlackBerry. Konica Minolta now offers the ability to access printing devices from smartphones and tablet PCs via Cortado’s Workplace, a leading cloud printing service. That is why Konica Minolta has joined Cortado’s new Cloud Printing Alliance. “As a member of Cortado’s Cloud Printing Alliance, we empower mobile workers to use Konica Minolta printers conveniently via their mobile device”, says Marco Reich, Product Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe. “Cortado is the right partner for us. Its free app for iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry smartphones easily sets up a connection to our printers via established standards.” Cortado, the mobile division of print solution provider ThinPrint AG, has announced the formation of the Cloud Printing Alliance to allow mobile cloud printing to any certified printer for smartphone and tablet users. It is open to printer and network equipment manufacturers and hotspot providers such as hotels. The first members of the Cloud Printing Alliance include Konica Minolta, Oki, Kyocera Mita, Dell, Brother and Funkwerk. Cortado is contributing its Cortado Workplace technology, a free cloud printing solution with nearly 100,000 customers worldwide. "We are looking forward to working with Konica Minolta within the Cloud Printing Alliance. Devices featuring the Cloud Printing Ready logo are the first choice for use at Wi-Fi hotspots. They offer significant added value for customers and service providers due to their print support for BlackBerry, iPad and others,” says Frank Hoffmann, Director Strategic Relationships at ThinPrint AG.

Cortado. A Division of ThinPrint Cortado combines the entire computing expertise of ThinPrint AG to create mobile communication solutions. The mobile business expert’s vision is complete independence from location-bound workplaces and computer-based communication methods. The core of the Cortado solutions is the company’s Virtual Desktop Processes technology (VDP). Unlike other providers, Cortado does not transmit the complete desktop to the mobile device. Instead, the BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, etc., smartphone is outfitted with individual PC functions optimized for the small screen display and is thereby transformed into a full-fledged workstation. Cortado’s VDP products are available both as in-house solutions and cloud services. The Cortado portfolio is rounded out by individual business apps and solution hosting from well-established third-party providers such as Microsoft Exchange and SharePoint. Security-certified hosting centers in the USA and Germany guarantee highest availability and security of all hosted services and customer data. Thanks to ThinPrint AG’s extensive experience as the worldwide leading provider of printing solutions for wide area networks, Cortado has offices in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Australia, as well as a close-knit network of partners around the globe.
