one, not two, nor three, but four amazing dupes for us to choose from. It goes without saying that they’ll elevate your jean and sweater combo to dizzyingly chic new heights but, worn over your sequin frock, we guarantee you’ll be the coolest girl at all your Christmas parties. t’s a little unorthodox to kick off a fashion news story with a classical reference but, to be fair, much like the lion’s share of Gucci’s other trends, this deserves to have its own place in history. There for us in good times and bad, we’ve all come to rely on our black leather bikers because, quite simply, there’s nothing they don’t go with. However, the aim of Gucci’s game isn’t to blend in with the crowd – it’s to draw (wanted) attention to yourself at every given opportunity, and this trophy jacket will do just that. Emblazoned with delicate floral motifs and juxtaposed with fierce studwork, it’s little wonder it commanded a resounding gasp from the fashion editors sitting FROW-side. Shortly after, it hit Gucci’s perfectly polished rails for a cool £7,440, and we swiftly put our dreams of owning one to bed. Now, almost six months later, the high street has finally worked up not

To S u i t E ’ r y b o d y ’Tis the season to be sparklin’, especially in these shimmering midis
PREEN @ t h efa s h io n _ l i ft
WORDS: Maxine eggenbeRgeR phOtOS: gettY, gORUnWaY
anta, sleigh bells, sparkles… some things just go with Christmas, and sequins are definitely one of them. After all, it’s the only time of the year you can wear enough bling to be seen from space and no one (not even your out-of-touch boss) can bat an eye. And given the fact that Internet searches for sequin skirts are up a colossal 550 per cent, we’re guessing you agree. However, thanks to their often-miniscule length, sequin skirts are polarizing for 99 per cent of us; a mini skirt is one thing but covered in dazzling discs? Daunting doesn’t cut it. Don’t be disheartened, though – thanks to a new crop of calf-length styles, these party pleasers just got way more wearable. With a super-flattering A-line shape and a hemline that hits below the knee, these glittering incarnations offer all the glamour of their shorter little sisters but with a far more sophisticated vibe. These midis are anything but frumpy – try wearing yours with a long-sleeved crop top or a vampy lace blouse for a worthy party ensemble. Blessed with legs up to here? Velvet flats are where it’s at. Otherwise, we recommend lengthening your frame with some dance-floor-ready block heels. Ready, steady, twirl.

MAC’s Brave …
As online searches for MAC lipsticks soar by 450%, Deputy Fashion News Editor Hannah reveals her growing obsession with one shade in particular words: HannaH Banks-walker @HBankswalker
‘T
his isn’t my fault. I didn’t mean for this to happen. I blame my friends.’ So goes the speech I recite as I find myself at the MAC counter, fervently stockpiling the lifechanging lipstick that is Brave. But wait – let me start at the beginning. I’m lucky enough to have one of those core groups of friends that travels with you through life. School, university, WhatsApp groups… We’ve cried, laughed and endured the Megabus together. But a while back, I started feeling slightly left out of a recurring conversation they would have each and every time we were together. There were oohs and aahs I couldn’t quite decipher, until one of
them thrust a MAC lipstick into my hand. ‘It’s called Brave and it’s INCREDIBLE,’ she began. Then they all joined in: ‘You can wear it to work!’; ‘You can wear it to go out!’; ‘It inspires the everyday girl to be courageous enough to sport lippy in the daytime!’. I didn’t even make that last quote up. So, to stave off the FOMO, I tried it. And I’ve never looked back. It’s classed as pink-beige and the satin finish means it glides on like a dream. I’d never bought a MAC product in my life and now I can’t stop. But I promise you this: my friends don’t lie. Well, not about Brave, anyway. It really does suit everyone. Not convinced? I’ll let my friend Charlotte sum it up: ‘It’s so bloody versatile and I love it.’ Go on, be Brave.
Here are my friends Beth, Brit, Annie and Charlotte all rocking Brave

inter brings with it many sartorial struggles but none more testing than the hunt for the perfect party dress. In a tale as old as time (and yes, that is a direct quote from Mrs. Potts) we spend so many hours each year analysing this single purchase that, inevitably, our favourites end up selling out, leaving us feeling as if we’ve taken a punch to the gut. Not this year though. We’ve already tracked down our frock of choice, and it’s even got the blogger seal of approval. We first clocked this velvet dream on Fashion Me Now’s Lucy Williams and since that fateful day, we’ve not been able to think of anything else. Of course, there’s always the fear that influencer outfits could potentially cost you more than a new car but thankfully, this number’s from none other than Urban Outfitters – for just £59! Inspired by Valentino’s knockout catwalk frock, this crushed velvet, ruffled slip will not only see you through the festive (read: going out out) season but, as demonstrated by Lucy, it’ll provide you with endless daytime inspo too. Wear it over a chunky roll neck and finish with a cinched-in belt or try slipping it over a graphic tee and pairing with chunky boots for an offbeat vibe. After dark, it’ll look equally beaut layered over a lace shirt as it will worn sans top with statement earrings and metallic heels. Sure, you’ll always run the risk of someone turning up in same dress but, chances are, you’ll both wear it pretty differently anyway.

Ivy, the British label created by BFFs Beth Chilton and Sarah Sleightholm only last year. And boy, are we glad these two design forces found each other! Stocked exclusively at ASOS, the collection features stunning lace midis, wispy organza co-ords, impeccably tailored jumpsuits and, of course, that signature embroidery on everything. Hand-drawn prints and frill details only add to the feeling that these pieces were crafted for you – and nobody else. You’d think such a luxury would bring with it an eyewatering price tag, but these showstoppers start at a very reasonable £55 and there’s even a selection of maternity dresses. The most glam protest, ever
Long hours, low wages and a lifetime of renting – it’s no surprise that we’re absolutely raging…
WORDS: Selina MaycOck phOtO: Rex
R
age: the four-letter word that seems to crop up constantly at the moment. Whether it’s raging at a colleague about their missed deadline or shouting at the TV every time Trump appears, we are Generation Angry. Even swearing is on the rise, with a recent Scottish survey revealing the use of the word ‘f**k’ is up by 500 per cent since the 90s. S**t, that’s a lot. So why are we so angry? Experts say it’s because of our financial situation: we’re the ones paying extortionate rents (a total of
£53,000 by the time we’re 30), working longer hours (for on average £8,000 less in our twenties than our predecessors), struggling with the strain of student debts, being ghosted on Tinder and facing the consequences of a referendum that 73 per cent of young people were against. ‘A lot of my younger clients are still living at home because they just can’t afford to move out,’ says psychologist Glenn Mason. ‘They’re working longer hours, which can mean more stress, less time to socialise and higher rates of anxiety. That’s going to affect their emotional health and
wellbeing.’ It’s no surprise that home ownership plays a huge part. Just under half of millennials believe they’ll never be able to afford their own home. Glenn adds: ‘Psychologists are arguing that the end of adolescence should be increased to 25. Many years ago, people would have moved out at 18, got married, had kids and so on. Whereas now, that’s not the developmental pattern that people are following.’ Then there’s social media. With 75 per cent of millennials having at least one account, it’s a huge part of our lives. It’s leading to what Glenn calls ‘the comparison trap’ where we idolise others and berate ourselves for not having their Insta-perfect lives. It all helps contribute to the fact that millennials are a very tightly wound group indeed. According to the British Association Of Anger Management, 45 per cent of UK adults regularly lose their temper at work, 1 in 20 have had a fight with their neighbour and more than half of us have hit our computer in anger. But we can improve. According to Glenn, there are steps you can take. ‘Anger is never the problem; it’s how we manage and deal with it that’s the issue. An example I often use with clients is to imagine yourself like a balloon. You’ve got all this air pumping in and eventually it’s going to explode. ‘I talk about ways to snip a hole in the balloon. All that stress is still going to be going in but if we’ve got a couple of strategies in place, such as talking to people, physical exercise or diet, being aware of our alcohol intake and drugs, it’s going to help manage the anger.’ Be right back, we’re off for a long walk and an afternoon natter…

M ov e S on…
WORDS: Lucy Devine phOtOS: Rex featuReS, x17
The actress is ready to make a clean break after Brad and she’s turned to another Hollywood actor for comfort
i
COVER STORY
t’s been a whirlwind two months for Angelina Jolie. Following her split from husband Brad Pitt in September, the star enlisted top Hollywood divorce lawyer Laura Wasser (the same woman who represented Johnny Depp in his divorce); braved a plethora of completely false marriage rumours – including stories that Brad wanted to pursue Margot Robbie and Marion Cotillard while the pair were still together – and faced criticism from other A-listers. At a recent charity event in Los Angeles, comedian Chelsea Handler threw shade at the actress, saying Brad was being emancipated rather than divorced. All in all, we think Angelina might be forgiven for feeling utterly down and out. But last week, for the first time since the split, the actress broke her silence in a recorded video message for the International Criminal Court. Poised and calm, Angelina spoke out in support of a recent policy regarding children. While it’s no secret that the actress has struggled with the separation (as Look told you back in October, despite Angelina initiating the divorce, the split left her ‘in a world of pain’) it seems she’s pulled herself out of the dark, after an insider told Look that
she’s ‘throwing herself into life’ and definitely not ‘sitting alone wallowing in misery’. ‘She’s started coming out of her shell socially since the divorce,’ says our source. ‘When she was Angelina and with Brad she Johnny clicked didn’t really have while filming The Tourist time for anyone but him and their family unit. The only friends she made were through work and most of the time as soon as a project wrapped she’d lose touch. But now she’s started reaching out to others again and has been reconnecting with people.’ While the actress – who cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for the split – has been trying to stay occupied, concentrating on work and the kids (as Look went to press she was reportedly planning on a quiet and intimate Thanksgiving with just the children) it seems having the same top lawyer isn’t the only thing she and Johnny Depp have in common. According to our insider, the pair – who have always been friends – are spending an increasing amount of time together, speaking on the phone ‘sometimes twice a day’. ‘The main person she’s leaning on is Johnny. They were close when they shot The Tourist and they’ve picked up right where they left off,’ says our source. ‘They talk every day, sometimes twice a day; it’s been a huge help to Angie. Johnny adores her – he always has. Right now they’re still strictly in the friend zone, but who knows where it could lead?’ And it seems Johnny’s moral support has been a big help for

Angelina. In a statement released last week, it was revealed she’ll continue to retain sole custody of their six children – Maddox, 15; Pax, 12; Zahara, 11; Shiloh, 10 and twins Knox and Vivienne, eight. ‘We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time,’ the statement read. While our source has revealed Angelina is now looking forward to starting her new life in the UK as soon as possible, Brad has been granted ‘therapeutic visits’ to see the kids. Angelina will be starting her visiting professorship at LSE university soon, where she’ll be teaching a course about war and the impact on women. She loves living in the UK after having spent time here while Brad filmed 2017 flick World War Z 2. ‘She’s been looking in the Richmond area, as everyone knows. She’s hoping to be there by next summer. But it all depends on getting things settled with Brad, which she wants to do as soon as possible,’ says our insider. We think it’s fair to say Angelina will be glad to see the Brad was out on the back of 2016…

He stormed off his set last Saturday after just four songs and a 10-minute angry rant
And Kanye’s arguments with celebs such as Wiz Khalifa and Taylor Swift haven't helped the couple. More controversy erupted after Kanye tweeted his support for Bill Cosby – who’s been accused of assault by more than 50 women – and more recently US president-elect Donald Trump. Despite that, Kim’s been by his side since he was admitted to hospital and as Look went to press, Kanye was spending Thanksgiving there. Fan support has poured in, including an open letter (see left) penned by model Ebonee Davis, who walked in Kanye’s catwalk show earlier this year. We hope Kanye can pull through and be home for Saint’s first birthday this week.

Kim was apparently diverted from the Angel Ball red carpet to be with Kanye
**k winning, f**k looking cool, f**k being cool.’ Only 48 hours after his onstage meltdown where he lashed out at Jay Z and Beyoncé, Kanye West cancelled the remaining 21 dates of his tour and was checked into hospital, reportedly for psychiatric evaluation. It couldn’t have come at a worse time for wife Kim Kardashian, who was about to make her first red carpet appearance since her Paris attack in October. Insiders tell Look that the rapper's been suffering from exhaustion. Added to this, it’s been nine years this month since his mother Donda passed away, something friends say he’s never got over. It hasn’t been the best year for 39-year-old Kanye and Kim, 36, as the couple have been plagued by split rumours. Despite Kanye previously calling their marriage ‘a love for the ages’, Kim was pictured on holiday in Mexico without him – and her wedding ring – earlier this year. Our sources have also revealed that Kim wasn’t happy about Kanye continuing with his tour after her gunpoint robbery ordeal. On top of that, the pair were divided over firing their long-term security guard and friend, Pascal Duvier.

JESSICA ALBA INTERVIEW
O
h, how we love Jessica Alba. She might be famous for her starring roles in the likes of Sin City and Fantastic Four, but it’s her business mind that’s seen her turn a passion for organic products into The Honest Company, leaving her with a reported net worth of £275m. Impressive, yes? The 35-year-old’s a mum to daughters Honor and Haven, the face of Braun, built up an army of fash fans (especially in the Look office) plus she has a figure everyone wants. But she doesn’t even go to the gym, sigh…
feel good. I think it took me a while to get to that. How do you stay in shape? If you can fit in a 20-minute workout every day, just walking or something, it’s better than nothing. I’m guilty of not doing anything, but if you can do it it’s so much better. You’ve been hugely successful in the business world. What has it taught you about yourself? It’s given me a sense of purpose. I feel like this is my way to contribute to society and for a little while it was about showing young girls that you can pursue your dreams. You don’t have to be the typical mould of what a leading lady is. You can be tough, you can be a woman of colour like me and you can play roles that are strong. I really feel like my purpose is to give people access to healthy products so they can live a healthy life. You’ve experienced both ups and downs in business. How do you tackle difficult situations? Business is just business. If you don’t want to go through anything difficult, don’t go into business [laughs]. It’s like, are you going to get your heart broken at some point in your life? Yeah. Does that mean you shouldn’t try to love people? No. You’re now an app mentor for Apple. Do you think all women
WORDS: GiSelle WainWRiGht phOtOS: jeSSica alba/ inStaGRam
Business can be difficult – b u t I d o n’t shy away from it
Hi Jessica! Your skin is always glowing – how can we achieve your natural look? I like to use the Braun Face Spa. It’s nice to have that exfoliation and it’s gentle enough to use it every day. I then follow that up with a moisturiser and a hydrating mist, and sometimes an organic face oil. What’s the best beauty tip you’ve been given and who gave it to you? My mum told me to always take care of my skin, so I did from a very early age and she taught me to put coconut oil or olive oil on my hair every night. You’ve been the face of Braun products for many years – what’s the one product you always use? I love the IPL hair removal. I think it’s just a really great product because usually you’d have to go to a spa and pay a ton of money to get that treatment done. What beauty tips are you going to pass down to your daughters? It really is more about inner confidence and I want to put more of an emphasis on how they carry themselves and how they treat people. That’s always so much more important than physical beauty. If you could give your teen self a piece of advice, what would it be? I think not to be so critical and so hard on myself. And also, to not think that I have to conform to other people’s ideas of beauty and to be OK with what makes me
Jessica is a proud mother to two little girls
should be learning to code? I think it’s a core skill that the next generation should absolutely have. It’s an important thing, it’s the future and I do think it will be part of a basic skill set that everyone needs to have in order to be competitive. We love your style. How do you put together an outfit? Do you have a stylist or is it all you? I usually pick out my clothes the night before so I don’t have to fuss too much in the morning. Where do you buy most of your clothes? Topshop, obviously. Topshop is a good one, ASOS is a good one. I like mixing high and low [brands]. I like Céline too. Kenzo is a fun line that I like to wear a lot of, as well as Tory Burch. Have you got any New Year’s resolutions for 2017? No, I haven’t thought of any yet. But I do think everyone needs New Year’s resolutions – it helps to set you up for success.

The New seasoN biker
‘This jacket has become my new wardrobe staple; I’ve been wearing it with denim, shirt dresses, culottes… Everything!’ anna, size 12
l The traditional biker-style jacket has had a major upgrade for AW16 and we are totally on board. Forget black leather: this season is all about oversized boyfriend fits, warm wool or shearling fabrics and sugary sweet colour palettes that look good enough to eat…
Jacket, £110, Topshop (sizes 6-16) Blouse, £109, Boden (sizes 6-22) Skirt, £85, Topshop Boutique (sizes 4-16) Socks, £9.99, stance Boots, £89.99, Mango
‘This coat has a classic biker shape but is totally winter weather-appropes… What’s not to love?’ amy, size 8
The loNgliNe bomber
l Yep, the bomber is back for yet another season but this time round it’s oversized, longer in length (no chilly bottoms! Hurrah!) and generally more snug. You’ll also notice the pretty embroidered detailing of the SS16 bomber has been replaced with utility features like zips and large pockets to create a style that will go perfectly with your snug knits and warm winter boots.

l Nothing says effortlessly chic quite like a camel coat and for this winter, the longer the length, the better. Yep, it’s a pretty smart coat but if you’re more of the dressed-down type, don’t fret – it’ll look just as good layered over a casual hoodie or worn with a pair of plimsolls as it does styled with slick tailoring.

As you improve your balance, you’ll also be improving your core muscles. THE CORE CREATOR The humble handstand can improve your core fitness, which helps with posture and balance. To start out, get on all fours with your heels against a wall. Keep your shoulders directly over your wrists and lift your bum up to form an upside down V shape. Natascha’s Mantra
‘Be kind and treat people right. Keep fit for your health, not for your image.’

Skinny? Nah! I would love a smaller chest though – I have huge boobs, which is my main body issue. I think a six-pack looks amazing though.

Drop the Negative ‘Beauty is 100 per cent in the eye of the beholder. no matter how physically attractive a person is, if they are mean or nasty, they are ugly. Be kind and positive.’

Chalet Chic The dark nights have officially set in but we’re anything but sad. After locking eyes on this gorgeous lot, we’re voluntarily putting ourselves under house arrest for the foreseeable future. Hi Jodie! Did you have reservations about coming back to Fuller House? I had none at all. It was really exciting to feel like our fans loved the show.

Moana (3D) She’s already being called the ‘antiprincess’ by some and a badass heroine by others. Moana (voiced by newcomer Auli’i Cravalho) sets off on an adventure to sail the seas and save her people with her demigod sidekick Maui (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson). The first ever Disney film set in the Pacific islands, the best part is that the songs were penned by none other than the creator of hit musical Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda. If that’s not a recipe for another Frozen, we don’t know what is. n In cinemas 2 December

re-WIND
Is it as fun as it looks to work with the others on set? One of the main things that people who work on our show – guest stars and camera crew – say, is they’ve never seen a cast who are so happy to be working together. And I think the Tanner’s close-knit family energy really comes across on screen. @lookmagazine
What was it like to have Bruno Tonioli join the cast? It was really fun. I was on Dancing With The Stars this season so I got to know him pretty well, and that’s when I invited him to come on my show. He just had a total blast on the set. We didn’t stray too far from who he really is with his character! Which other guest stars would you like to see? I keep hoping for Ryan Gosling but it hasn’t happened yet… n Fuller House Series 2 starts on Netflix on 9 December

...& One More Thing
It’s the High Street Heroes It’s time to reacquaint yourself (and your wardrobe) with beloved cartoon characters, who are more indemand than a pair of Gucci loafers COmiC meets Denim at zara Only Zara could craft denim jackets and irresistible arm candy out of Bugs Bunny, Tweety Pie and Porky Pig. And that’s exactly what it has done. A jacket covered in slogans is emblazoned with the Looney Tunes logo on the back, while the bags are reincarnations of the faces of Porky and Tweety. Saturday morning cartoons never looked so good… asOs X Pingu We can’t even see this little penguin without singing that famous theme tune in our heads –and given that ASOS’s new ode to this guy is so brilliant, we guess we’ll be singing it on a very regular basis. Every time we jazz up our jeans with one of these tops, to be exact. BRB, just off to watch some old Pingu episodes on YouTube. So millennial.
Disney X Lazy Oaf Cinderella once told us ‘a dream is a wish your heart makes’. Then consider Lazy Oaf’s collaboration with Disney as a wish we never even knew we’d made. From Mickey Mouse to 101 Dalmatians, these pieces will have you head-over-heels at first glance. Our favourite? The sorbet-hued collection in honour of The Aristocats and the ever-wise Cinders.
