It is my vision that local residents will have even higher levels of trust and confidence in their police‌.

79%

Public confidence in policing fell during 2012, but has since increased steadily to 79%. Avon and Somerset is now a top ten national performer and meeting the ambition for 2017. 2

Overall satisfaction rates among victims of crime remain strong in Avon and Somerset compared to other Police Force areas

88%

Avon and Somerset has the 7th highest rate of victim satisfaction in England and Wales based on the most recent comparative data available. Rates have, however, fallen marginally to 88% over the last quarter. Trends will be monitored closely as the new Constabulary Operating Model and Integrated Victim Care model is embedded.

ASB cases successfully resolved have increased, but satisfaction levels amongst victims of anti-social behaviour have levelled off‌ ASB Cases Fully Resolved (Victim Satisfaction Survey)

81%

Satisfaction rates amongst victims of ASB has increased marginally to 81%. While the gap between ASB and crime satisfaction has reduced, this is largely a result of a deterioration in crime victim satisfaction. The proportion of ASB cases fully resolved has increased throughout the year to 51%. 4

Reported sexual offences have increased and reported domestic violence is also steadily increasing

+20%

+20%

The Commissioner has set the aspiration to increase confidence amongst victims of domestic and sexual violence to report their victimisation. Improvements in crime recording standards over the last year have impacted upon these indicators, while increases in the reporting of sexual offences have been reflected nationally. 5

Burglary rates continue to reduce, while burglary detections have seen an sustained improvement

-9%

12%

Reported burglary offences have increased marginally since February 2014, following a long term (12 year) reducing trend. Positive outcomes in cases of burglary increased to around 15% in January 2014, but have since fallen to around 12%. This has resulted in the Constabulary’s comparative position falling to 16th nationally. Trends will be monitored closely as the new Constabulary Operating Model is embedded.
