PCC Priorities • Protect the most vulnerable from harm • Strengthen and improve your Local Policing Teams • Ensure Avon and Somerset Constabulary has the right people, right equipment and right culture • Work together effectively with other police forces and key partner agencies to provide better services to local people


Resource • There are currently circa 200 Police Officers serving North Somerset • This breaks down into: – 140 PCs – 39 PCSOs – 14 Sergeants – 6 Inspectors • This does not include specialist or centralised teams such as Investigations, Intelligence, Forensics, Call Handling etc.


Demand • 47,373 calls for service in 2016/17 across North Somerset • Volume of calls increased by 7% when comparing recent 12 months with previous 12 months • 28% of calls are crime related • Crime related calls increased by 31% compared to previous 12 months • 101 abandoned call rate currently at 5.6% (improved by 4.5%pts over previous 12 months)


Changing Demand • Improved (and changes in) crime recording standards resulting in increased crime recording • Crime in North Somerset has seen a 9.5% increase year on year • ASB has seen a 19.6% decrease year on year • Overall, crime and ASB has seen a 2.4% increase year on year (4.5%pts lower than Somerset and 4.3%pts lower than force)

187 Incidents reported to our call centre in 24 hrs 44 reported crimes 12 calls relating to Domestics, 3 Domestic Abuse crimes 18 ASB calls for service 3 Missing Persons Crime breakdown – 50% VAP, 39% Theft and Handling, 5% Drug Offences, 2% Criminal Damage, 2% Sexual Offences, 2% Other Offences


Innovations • Body Worn Cameras • New crime recording system enabling development toward mobile working • Specialist Digital Media Investigations team • Call back system reducing wait times for 101 callers • Partnership approach • Delivering savings with minimum affect on deliverable services • Implementation of a data visualisation tool provides greater insight and facilitates better informed decision making
