Express Park • A purpose built, high quality Police Operations Base will be located at Express Park, on the outskirts of Bridgwater, housing the following: • Police Operations Base (Custody Unit, Patrol and Neighbourhood Teams, Specialist teams as well as Administrative and Support Functions)

• Police Station (enquiry office for Bridgwater supplemented by a neighbourhood base for the local Neighbourhood team in central Bridgwater)

• Intended as a consolidation/centralisation of a number of business elements to provide more rapid & effective response to local area issues and concerns, NOT a withdrawal of local policing services or officers • There will be a phased transfer of custody and staff from April 2014 with around 550 officers and staff based there when fully operational.

Domestic Violence • Reported crimes involving domestic violence have increased in Somerset West by almost 20% over the last 4 years • Year to date, the reporting of serious sexual offences has increased by almost 40% compared with the same time last year. • In partnership with other agencies our aim is to ensure victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence get the support they need, when they need it by:  Working with schools and academies to improve support for children affected by Domestic Abuse and raise awareness of Sexual Violence, particularly amongst young people  Driving up reporting of sexual and domestic violence  Delivering robust and effective investigation  Tackling Domestic and Sexual Violence offenders who offend repeatedly.

ASB • Anti social behaviour has reduced by 15% in the last 3 years • 76 fewer incidents per month compared to 3 years ago • Working with local communities and partner agencies such as housing, local authorities, trading standards and licensing to achieve; • Crack house closures in Bridgwater and Taunton • Premises closure orders in Taunton • Effective use of Anti Social Behaviour Orders and Contracts • Aims are to reduce the impact of the most persistent or nuisance offenders in our communities.

Burglary • Burglary has fallen across Somerset West by 47% over the last five years. Over 1000 fewer victims • Significant reductions year to date in all burglary classifications with 200 less victims since the start of the year • Burglary series in Wellington halted following arrest of a suspect having been able to track the electronic equipment that had been stolen • Satisfaction for Victims of Domestic Burglary stands at 93% in the last year • Specific plans to address burglary issues are in place for identified hotspot areas throughout Somerset West

Partnership working • Rural crime initiative ensuring a quality service to isolated rural communities and businesses • Family focus projects, designed to give more intensive support to families that have members involved in crime or anti-social behaviour • Somerset and Avon Rape and Sexual Support service launched in Taunton • Taunton Deane domestic Abuse Forum recognised as best practice – model for rest of force • Volunteers – many different Watch programs, CCTV monitoring operations, Cadet program, Victim advocacy

Partnership Working in Practice Halcon One Team •

Partnership working designed specifically to ensure resources are available to help and support change in the Halcon Ward in Taunton.

Processes are in place to identify those in most need and to ensure this joint working approach is designed around the community.
