The art of turning land into landscape was first explored in a republic that had an absolute abundance of it, China. With a heart soaked in nature’s charming beauty and a brush dipped in black ink, the Chinese masterfully transformed seemingly mundane Chinese land tracts into captivating nature portraits on paper and silk based scrolls. It wasn’t until centuries later that the penchant for mirroring the charm of an infinitely stretched landscape across a finite-sized medium passed over into
the hearts and hands of artists in other parts of the world. While it’s the Chinese who brushed the first stroke, the credit for the first documented landscape painting has been inked permanently in favour of Italian born Ambrogio Lorenzetti – circa 1335. The denial of rightful acknowledgement however, deterred neither the originators nor followers from evolving landscape art across mediums and audiences.

J.M.W. TURNER (1775 –1851)
To make a sketch of a painting that would be called Snow Storm, Steam Boat off a Harbour’s Mouth, Turner tied himself to the main mast of a ship, faced the storm and just kept drawing. His landscapes were his own feelings on the scenes, like during the burning of the parliament, he rushed to scene, and produced The Burning of the Houses of Lords and Commons.
JOHN CONSTABLE (1776 –1837)
It is said that there’s no place like home. John Constable thought so too. His immense affection for the Stour Valley, egged him to make a series of paintings on it. The most renowned ones being Dedham Vale and The Hay Wain. His paintings garnered so much admiration that the area around his home has come to be known as the ‘Constable Country’.
EMIL NOLDE (1867 –1956)
Rejection, they say, is an artist’s biggest muse. Nolde had Hitler and the national socialists rejecting his work publicly. Whether it was the ridicule or suppression, Nolde managed to produce some of the most extraordinary watercolors like Marshy Landscape Under the Evening Sky, Atardecer de otoño and Blumengarten.
CLAUDE MONET (1840-1926)
SALVADOR DALÍ (1904 –1989)
Monet was the founder of the French impressionist painting. Even when his beloved wife was on her deathbed, Monet jumped at the opportunity to paint her. The name of the biggest art movement ‘Impressionism’ is derived from his landscape painting Impression Sunrise. His other famous works include Water Lilies and Saint Lazare Train Station.
When all the other six year olds were out to play, Salvador Dalí, also famous for his odd moustache, was happily working on Landscape Near Figuerasm - a postcard painting that went on to become one of the most famous landscape paintings by him. Cadaques and Paranoiac Critical Solitude were some of his other well-known paintings.

From just a task force project in Kandivali, he progressed to tier-2 cities like Pune and Nashik within half a decade of joining the business. “The core objective has always been elevating the customers from their current standard of living to one that of aspiration.� he articulates. Today, he adorns multiple roles. Along with work, he divides his time in social activities and takes keen interest in the upliftment of the less fortunate.
