Sheriff denies NAACP entrance into jail
denied access to these inmates for purposes of voter registration. Gloria Rogers (President of the local chapter of the NAACP) reports that she strongly disagrees with Sheriff Schmaling's decision. "Yes, they have been locked up, but they should not be locked out of their civil rights as citizens of this county," she stated. Rogers went on to say that in previous years, up to 80 new voters have been registered for an election through this process.
