Beauty with Cydnie Smith-McCarthy
Hello my beauties! I’m Cydnie here with some how to’s and what to do’s about beauty. First thing.... EYEBROWS: Let’s all be real for a second; When your eyebrow game is strong, you can’t help but always feel like you can fight in World War III. However, when something goes wrong in that area, it can feel like you just lost it all. In my experience with doing and fixing my friends eyebrows, I always find that there is a quick solution to every mess up you may encounter: OVER TWEEZING: Let’s face it. We’ve all done this at some point or other. My advice: 1. Fill, fill, fill! It’s an instant fix and do-able at that moment/everyday you may be getting ready for. 2. Purchase an eyebrow growth serum and keep your hands off your eyebrows until it’s completely grown back to your liking. The “rough stage” is annoying, believe me, I know! But I order to
‘taste the rainbow’ you have to walk threw the storm. If you’re not sure how to fill in your eyebrows at all, I learned the best from a stellar YouTube beauty guru, Jaclyn Hill. She’s awesome and takes every step slowly. TINTING GONE WRONG: I’ve done this too. The bad news when this happens you just have to embrace it, and maybe get a spray tan to even it out (just kidding don’t do that) but the good news is, that it usually always fades within the two week period, and most of the time to the shade you actually were trying to achieve. DON’T try and reverse the process as you will more than likely risk more embarrassing damage. LINGERING REDNESS: N-E-O-S-P-O-R-I-N! It will calm the inflammation that’s causing the redness in a matter of seconds. When you apply it, make sure not to touch that area until the area as gone away.
THE FILL CRISIS: Go a little over board? It happens... A lot. In order to get a perfect ‘Kylie Jenner’ arch, we tend to mess up big time even when we don’t realize it then, spend another 30 minutes trying to fix and reshape. My advice would to be to just clean off your spoolie brush (like a mascara brush) and brush blend your eyebrows back to normal. Also if you need to clean or fix the edges, taking a small angled brush under and on top with some concealer, will keep your shape nice neat and clean. Again if you don’t know how this works, refer back to Jaclyn Hill’s tutorial videos THE FORGOTTEN PENCIL: If you are constantly forgetting your eyebrow pencil and are in need of a quick fix but it’s the only thing missing from your purse, turn your frown upside down, and take out that taupe colored eyeshadow you never use or if you never wear eyeshadow, that powder contour may do the trick. Just make sure beforehand that the color isn’t to warm or orange looking and will match your beautiful brows. Now, I hope that you all feel better about your past or present brow issues. I learned these quick fixes from countless times I spent, stuck on you tube, learning from different people and then added my own personalized pizazz, which we should all do. Now, if your also looking for good products to use, here are a list of things I’ve used in the past that have worked for me! 1. Anastasia Beverly Hills: Dipbrow Pomade 2. Charlotte Tilbury Pencil 3. CK One Color Brow Pencil & Gel Duo 4. The BrowGal Skinny Eyebrow Pencil 5. Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer And there you have it! I hope you take this information and run far with it! Until next time, Xoxo Cydnie

GINGER BEER Ginger beer is one of my favorite drinks it’s so zingy and light plus the fresh ginger and lemon are great for digestion. It’s especially good in the summertime but just as refreshing and yummy any day of the year. I just got home from a week with family and was craving something fresh to drink to cut the heaviness of all the festive holiday food. Classic ginger beers that you buy at the store use a starter, but that process is a little slow to do at home. Here’s my shortcut recipe that you can make in under 30 minutes. *Note this is non-alcoholic ginger beer but it would make a mean Moscow Mule if you so please. For a Moscow Mule you’ll just want to add 1-2 ounces of vodka per glass and a squeeze of lime juice.
RECIPE + INSTRUCTIONS Ginger Beer Serves 4-6 Approx time: 15 Difficulty: easy peasy Ingredients 1 Ÿ cup fresh ginger, grated 4 tablespoons turbinado sugar 3 lemons 1.25 litre sparkling mineral water or club soda 3-4 sprigs of fresh mint Instructions 1. First grate your ginger on a coarse cheese grater – note that you can leave the skin on if you like, removing it can be tricky. 2. Put the grated ginger into a pestle and mortar and sprinkle in the turbinado sugar. 3. Remove the rind from of your lemons with a vegetable peeler, add to the pestle and mortar, and slightly mash. You will want to do this until the lemon rinds release their essential oils and the grated ginger and sugar combine. 4. Squeeze the juice from all 3 lemons and add most of it to a large bowl- add your ginger, lemon and sugar mixture to large bowl, pour in your sparkling water. 5. Allow to sit for 15 minutes and then taste. 6. Pass the ginger beer through a coarse sieve into a large glass jug and add lots of ice and some sprigs of mint. 7. Pour over ice and enjoy!
