GENERALINSTRUCTIONS

SHIMMING

Shimsmustbesetduringeachnewadjustment. Measuretheshimsindividuallyusingamicrometer andsumthemeasuredvalues.Themeasurementof thecompletepackisnotreliable.

ROTATINGSHAFTSEALS

Forcorrectrotatingshaftsealinstallation,proceedas follows:

--beforeassembly,allowthesealtosoakintheoil itwillbesealingforatleastthirtyminutes;

--thoroughlycleantheshaftandcheckthatthe workingsurfaceontheshaftisnotdamaged;

--positionthesealinglipfrontpartfacingthefluid; withhydrodynamicseals,takeintoconsideration theshaftrotationdirectionandpositionthe groovessothattheywilldeviatethefluidtowards theinnersideoftheseal;

--coatthesealinglipwithathinlayeroflubricant (useoilratherthangrease)andfillthegapbetweenthesealinglipandthedustlipondoublelip sealswithgrease;

--insertthesealinitsseatandpressdownusinga flatpunch,donottapthesealwithahammeror mallet;

--whilstinsertingtheseal,checkthatitisperpendiculartotheseat.Oncesettled,makesurethe sealtouchesthethrustelement;

--topreventdamagingtheseallipontheshaft, positionaprotectiveguardaroundtheshaftorthe axleduringinstallationoperations.

O--RINGSEALS

LubricatetheO--ringsealsbeforeinsertingthemin theseats;thiswillpreventthemfromoverturningor twisting,whichwouldjeopardisesealingefficiency.

SEALINGCOMPOUNDS

Applyoneofthefollowingsealingcompoundsonthe matingsurfacesmarkedwithanX:RTVSILMATE, RHODORSILCAF1orLOCTITEPLASTIC GASKET.

Beforeapplyingthesealingcompound,preparethe surfacesasfollows:

--removeanyincrustationsusingametalbrush; --thoroughlyde--greasethesurfacesusingoneof thefollowingcleaningagents:trichlorethyleneor awaterandsodasolution.

COTTERPINS

Whenfittingsplitcotterpins,ensurethatthepinnotch ispositionedinthedirectionoftheforceactingonthe pin.

Spiralcotterpinsdonotrequirespecialassembly positioning.

PROTECTINGTHE ELECTRONIC/ELECTRICALSYSTEM DURINGCHARGINGORWELDING

1.Beforeconnectingabatterycharger,switchthe batteryoffthroughthesuitableswitch. Checkthatthebatterychargeriscorrectlyconnected.

2.Neverlettheenginerunwhenthegeneratorand thebatteryaredisconnected.

3.Disconnectthebatteryusingthebatteryswitchif anyelectricweldingworkistobecarriedouton thecombine.

Securethenegative(--)terminalofthewelding apparatusascloseaspossibletotheparttobe welded.

• Ifweldingincloseproximitytoacomputer module,thenthemoduleshouldberemoved fromthecombine.

• Neverallowweldingcablestolayon,nearor acrossanyelectricalwiringorelectroniccomponentwhileweldingisinprogress.

4.Thepositive(+)leadofthebatteriesisliveatall times.Topreventdamage,firstofallmoveapart thebatterygroundcable(--).

5.Ensurethebatteriesareconnectedproperly,i.e. negative(--)leadtothenegative(--)terminaland positive(+)leadtothepositive(+)terminal.

IMPORTANT: ifweldingmustbeperformedonthe unit,eitherthecombineortheheader(ifitisattached),thebatterygroundcablemustbedisconnectedfromthecombinebattery.Theelectronic monitoringsystemandchargingsystemwillbedamagedifthisisnotdone.

CAUTION

Batteriescontainsulphuricacid.Incaseofcontact withskin,flushtheaffectedareawithwaterforatleast fiveminutes.Seekmedicalattentionimmediately. Avoidcontactwiththeskin,eyesorclothing.Wear eyeprotectionwhenworkingnearbatteries.

SPAREPARTS

OnlyuseoriginalNEWHOLLANDsparepartsbearingthelogoshownbelow.

Onlygenuinesparepartsguaranteethesamequality, durationandsafetyasoriginalparts,astheyarethe samepartsthatareassembledduringstandardproduction.

OnlyNEWHOLLANDgenuinesparepartscanoffer thisguarantee.

Whenorderingspareparts,alwaysprovidethefollowinginformation: --machinemodel(commercialname)andserial number --partnumberoftheorderedpart,whichcanbe foundintheîMicrofichesîortheîSpareParts Catalogueî,usedfororderprocessing.

NOTE: Weldinglimitvaluesindicatedforcertain partsshouldbeconsideredtoberecommended,but notbinding.Thetermsîfrontî,îrearî,îright--handî andîleft--handî(whenreferredtodifferentparts)are determinedwiththeoperatorsittinginhisseat,facing inthedirectionoftravelofthemachineduringoperation.

Accidentsmayoccurwithalltypesofmachine,regardlessofhowwellthemachineinquestionwasdesignedandbuilt.

Acarefulandjudiciousservicetechnicianisthebest guaranteeagainstaccidents.

Preciseobservanceofthemostbasicsafetyrulesis normallysufficienttoavoidmanyseriousaccidents.

DANGER

Nevercarryoutanycleaning,lubricationormaintenanceoperationswhenthecombineengineisrunning.

SAFETYRULES

Generalguidelines

• Carefullyfollowspecifiedrepairandmaintenance procedures.

• Donotwearrings,wrist--watches,jewellery,unbuttonedorloosearticlesofclothingsuchas: ties,tornclothing,scarves,openjacketsorshirts withopenzipsthatmayremainentangledinmovingparts.Itisadvisedtowearapprovedsafety clothing,e.g.:non--slipfootwear,gloves,safety goggles,helmets,etc.

• Donotcarryoutrepairoperationswithsomeone sittinginthedriverísseat,unlessthepersonisa trainedtechnicianwhoisassistingwiththeoperationinquestion.

• Donotoperatethemachineoruseanyoftheimplementsfromdifferentpositions,otherthanthe driverísseat.

• Donotcarryoutoperationsonthemachinewith theenginerunning,unlessspecificallyindicated.

• Stoptheengineandcheckthatthehydrauliccircuitsarepressure--freebeforeremovingcaps, covers,valves,etc.

• Allrepairandmaintenanceoperationsmustbe carriedoutusingextremecareandattention.

• Servicestepsandplatformsusedintheworkshoporelsewhereshouldbebuiltaccordingto standardaccidentpreventionregulations.

• Anypartstoberaisedmustbelockedinposition.

• Brakesareinoperativewhenmanuallyreleased forrepairormaintenancepurposes.Usewedges orsimilardevicestocontrolthemachineinthese conditions.

• Onlyusespecifiedtowingpointsfortowingthe machine.Connectpartscarefully.Makesurethat allpinsand/orlocksaresecuredinpositionbeforeapplyingtraction.Donotstandnexttobars, metalropesortensionedtowchains.

• Whenloadingorunloadingthemachinefromthe trailer(orothermeansoftransportation),select aflatareacapableofsustainingthetrailerortruck wheels.Firmlysecurethemachinetothetruckor trailerandlockthewheelsinthepositionusedby thecarrier.

• Electricheaters,battery--chargersandsimilar equipmentmustonlybepoweredbyauxiliary powersupplieswithefficientgroundinsulationto avoidelectricalshockhazards.

• Alwaysusesuitablehoistingorliftingdevices whenraisingormovingheavyparts.

• Takeextracareifbystandersarepresent.

• Neverusegasoline,dieseloilorotherinflammableliquidsascleaningagents.Usenon--inflammable,nontoxiccommerciallyavailablesolvents.

• Wearsafetygoggleswithsideguardswhen cleaningpartswithcompressedair.

• Reducetheairpressureaccordingtothelocalregulationsinforce.

• Donotrunthecombineengineinconfined spaceswithoutsuitableventilation.

• Neverusenakedflamesforlightingwhenworkingonthemachineorcheckingforleaks.

• Allmovementsmustbecarriedoutcarefully whenworkingunder,onornearthemachine. Wearprotectiveequipment:helmets,goggles andspecialfootwear.

• Whencarryingoutcheckswiththeenginerunning,requesttheassistanceofanoperatorinthe driverísseat.Theoperatormustmaintainvisual contactwiththeservicetechnicianatalltimes.

• Ifoperatingoutsidetheworkshop,positionthe machineonaflatsurfaceandlockinposition.If operatingonhillsidesisrequired,firstofalllock themachine.Ifworkingonaslope,lockthemachineinposition.Movetoaflatareaassoonas safelypossible.

• Damagedorbentchainsormetalropesareunreliable.Donotusethemforliftingortowing.Alwaysusesuitableprotectivegloveswhenhandlingchainsorcables.

• Chainsshouldalwaysbesafelysecured.Make surethatthehitch--uppointiscapableofsustainingtheloadinquestion.Keeptheareanearthe hitch--uppoint,chainsorcablesfreeofallbystanders.

• MaintenanceandrepairoperationsmustbecarriedoutinaCLEANandDRYarea.Eliminateany wateroroilspillageimmediately.

• Donotcreatepilesofoilorgrease--soakedrags astheyrepresentaseriousfirehazard.Always storeragsinaclosedmetalcontainer. Beforeengagingthemachine,makesurethat therearenopersonswithinthemachineorimplementrangeofaction.

• Emptyyourpocketsofallobjectsthatmayfall accidentallyunobservedintothemachineinner compartments.

• Inthepresenceofprotrudingmetalparts,use protectivegogglesorgoggleswithsideguards, helmets,specialfootwearandgloves.

• Whenwelding,useprotectivesafetydevices: tintedsafetygoggles,helmets,specialoveralls, glovesandfootwear.Allpersonspresentinthe areawhereweldingistakingplacemustwear tintedgoggles.NEVERLOOKDIRECTLYAT THEWELDINGARCWITHOUTSUITABLEEYE PROTECTION.

• Metalcablestendtofraywithrepeateduse.Alwaysusesuitableprotectivedevices(gloves, goggles,etc.).

• Handleallpartscarefully.Donotputyourhands orfingersbetweenmovingparts.Wearsuitable safetyclothing--safetygoggles,glovesand shoes.

Start--up

• Neverrunthecombineengineinconfinedspaces thatarenotequippedwithadequateventilation forexhaustgasextraction.

• Neverplacethehead,body,limbs,feet,handsor fingersnearrotatingandmovingparts.

Hydraulics

• Aliquidleakingfromatinyholemaybealmostinvisiblebut,atthesametime,bepowerfulenough topenetratetheskin.Tosearchforpossible leaks,NEVERUSEYOURHANDS,rathera cardboardorawoodenstick.Ifanyliquidpenetratesskintissue,callformedicalaidimmediately.Failuretotreatthisconditionwithcorrect medicalproceduremayresultinseriousinfection ordermatosis.

• Inordertocheckthepressureinthesystemuse suitableinstruments.

WheelsandTyres

• Makesurethatthetyresarecorrectlyinflatedat thepressurespecifiedbythemanufacturer. Periodicallychecktherimsandtyresfordamage.

• Standawayfrom(atthesideof)thetyrewhen checkinginflationpressure.

• Donotusepartsofrecoveredwheelsasincorrect welding,brazingorheatingmayweakenand eventuallycausedamagetothewheel.

• Nevercutorweldarimmountedwithaninflated tyre.

• Toremovethewheels,lockallwheels.Afterhavingraisedthemachine,positionsupportsunderneath,accordingtoregulationsinforce.

• Deflatethetyrebeforeremovinganyobjectsthat maybejammedinthetyretread.

• Neverinflatetyresusinginflammablegasses,as thismayresultinexplosionsandinjurytobystanders.

RemovalandRe--fitting

• Liftandhandleallheavypartsusingsuitablehoistingequipment.Makesurethatpartsaresustainedbyappropriatehooksandslings.Usethe hoistingeyeboltsforliftingoperations.Extracare shouldbetakenifpersonsarepresentnearthe loadtobelifted.
