green roof | rehabilitation center loacation: Renmin Rd, QingDao, China date: Mar. 2013 - Jun. 2013 type: curricular project tutor: Hao chibiao, Xie Xudong

The design is to build a rehabilitation center for elderlies. A large number of plants and resting place are set up on the rooftop. Multilayer of set-back terrace provides a convenient outdoor space. Landscape design is pure and fresh by fully taking advantage of existing river landscape. Sunken courtyards enrich the landscape as well as gaining more natural light for the basement. The project is the combination of environment and physiotherapy. It not only provides the rehabilitation for elderlies but also the idea of planting wellness. Landscape and plants are widespread through the entire site. Every single ward is connected to landscape to make the building connected with nature maximally.

base analysis The site is located in the transit area of Sifang District and Shibei District. To its east is the intersection of Weihai Road, Anshan Road and Renmin Road. To its north is Anshan Road Viaduct. To its south is Haibo River. To its west is 227,000 sqare meter cultural park. The site can be achieved by convenient traffic and has beautiful landscape. Site analysis mainly falls into two aspects: Unfavorable: Existing buildings and outpatient hospital generate a triangle lowlight area where is not suitable for arrangement of wards. Anshan Road viaduct (gathered some itinerant traders, large crowds under the viaduct) caused 04

certain air and noise pollution which the new project wants to stay away from. Favorable: The Cultural Park and urban greens (beautiful environment which provides a variety of fitness facilities is the best landscape in surrounding area) should be taken fully advantage of. Wards should have good landscape orientation considering the sight issue. Haibo River (good water quality after treatment which can be an ideal place to relax) should be able to interact with the new project and provide a resting space for elderlies.

sight analysis The Z-shaped building body produces eight faรงade axis, after considering the orientation, landscape, traffic and other issues, 2 wards, temporary ward, logistics, foyer, services and other functions were arranged. Axis are intersected and connected to each other. Circulation pivots are on the intersection point to enhance the link between every program.

public landscape Site area (20,000 square meter) minus the original design land (6,000 square meter) equals to the remaining green space (less than 14,000 square meter) which has not been planned and design and is not the ideal place for elderlies. The new design generates the largest possible green space open to the elderly on the ground level and roof level: on the ground level, the terrain is transformed and four connected courtyards are dug and linked to the ground level with ramps. These four courtyards are used as nursing wards. There are also four courtyards on the rooftop level which are the main activity areas for wards (6,000 square meter). The green space is more than 20,000 square meter and landscape is more than15,000 square meter to give the elderly with a pleasant rehabilitation environment.

therapeutic landscape Landscape is a key factor for rehabilitation so that to emphasize the construction of landscape means a lot to the elderlies. 1.For the entire landscape area, slopes are widely adopted to make it convenient for elderlies activity. The landscape platform of the wards going from level4 to level8 via slopes strengthens the connection between every floor plan and benefit to administration. At the same time, the connection provides elderlies the opportunity to communicate. Nursing wards are located on the negative level courtyard for elderlies with severe symptoms to provide them with activity spaces. So the courtyards are relatively close for their safety and convenient administration. 2. The overall building form is streamlined and soft corners which will protect the elderlies. 3.nursing homes build paths with concrete, which is colored to reduce glare, because it is one of the easiest and safest walking surfaces available 07

planting convaescence| nursing center loacation: Tsukuba Science City, Japan date: Jan. 2011 - Jun. 2011 type: competition tutor: Hao chibiao, Xie Xudong

Based on all kinds of plants of various colors and the changes of colors according to seasons, people can receive different stimulations, thus generate different psychological feelings, and ultimately realize the goal of psychological convalescence. Establish garden plots in the park and allow the convalescence-received people to join in it and plant by themselves. In this way, it can not only help them to build their bodies but also beautify the environment of the park. Moreover, the participants can bring forth feelings of satisfaction. By planting plants harbored with different fragrant smells, we can create a fragrant biotic community, generate a convalescent effect on people’s bodies in a certain degree, and thus realize the goal of obtaining a healthy body. Planting Chinese herb medicine which has the medicinal effects in the park, on the one hand, can be beneficial to people’s health by edifying them with the Chinese herb medicine; on the other hand, can provide medicine directly for the park.

art club | detailed design of centre support system loacation: Lao mountain,QinDao, China date: Sept, 2014 - Nov, 2014 type: after-school project

A

At the graduate level, I decided to use the after-school time to do some detail desgins for my undergraduate stage projects. This project is the detailed desgin is the centre support system of art club. I used 5 H-shaped steels to support this part of building. 2 steels for the roof (No.A/No.B), 2 steels for the floor (No.D/No.E), 3 steels for the gallery (No.C/No.D/No.E),2 steels for the stair(No.B/No.E)

B

C D

The part of the gallery is the most important part of this building. It needs more space for the exhibitions, so it is much wider than other parts.

At the part of the gallery, I used three H-shaped steels (No.C/No.D/No.E), two steels (No.C/No.D) is ouside and one steel (No.E) is inside, because this part of the building is much heavier than other parts. At the position of the gallery, two outside steels (No.C/No.D) expanded to make enough space for the double ribbed plates. So it can make the gallery very stable. 32

This project try to discuss about the reconstruction possibly of the old buildings. I used notch, nest, traverse, fracture carve to handle the old building volume, try to find the new spaces in the old buildings, rebirth the old buildings with the new functions, new exchanges, new spaces. I think we should try different techniques with the old buildings.

surface corresponding As the center of the whole business area, connected corridors inside every room above the third storey are designed to make courtyard landscape available and give staff a comfortable working environment. Office, rest room, hall, warehouse, lecture hall, elevator hall can be divided according to their lighting requirements. A script can be used to convert facade lighting information into a surface. Each point of the surface corresponds to the level of the point of this lighting rate so that the facade components shall meet the lighting requirements of their positions. Diiferent functions determine different window syles and produce different space experience. At last, they divide the facade into several small sections and high-reflective glasses are hung on.

lighting requirements The process of facade formation is based on this. The outer epidermal plug glasses create different inclination angles to adapt to the internal function requirements and produce different outer scenic to make viewing process more interesting. Facade member is designed as a series of geometric components, rotation logic to change the lighting rate among the components of both continuous changes in topologically equivalent, creating a continuous topology is not equivalent to change. Design fully reflects the even extremely simple home and relationships adequately studied its characteristics. A simple list can also produce a rich geometric transformation relations. The surface through another section of the script operation is used to control the mounting arrangement of the different modules.

The interior space is combined with unique marine style, conveying the idea of "Green Olympic, Technology Olympic, Humanity Olympic" and making the building another beautiful landscape on the beach of Qingdao. Interior space is another important factor in this museum design process. A round-shaped courtyard locates at the entrance of the museum which makes the museum more open and creates a proper exhibition space for large exhibits. The most important thing is, the dormer across it provides other exhibition hall with diffuse light source. 54
