‘It started as a fun snowball fight but became an avalanche.’ —JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, on why he left ‘N SYNC, to The Hollywood Reporter

‘The minute I went red, it was quirky and fun instead of flirtatious and dumb.’ —AMY ADAMS, on scoring different roles after dying her hair, at the BAFTAs

Q & A

—TOM HIDDLESTON, on his whirlwind romance with Taylor Swift, to GQ

Charlie Day The actor, 41, stars as a high school teacher in the new comedy Fist Fight

‘You were so handsome. . . . Were you, like, so mad when you stopped looking like that?’ —PETE DAVIDSON, to Alec Baldwin during his opening monologue, on SNL

You costar with Ice Cube and Tracy Morgan. What was it like on-set? It was a really good energy. Except for during the fight scenes when Cube and I would have to break to get an ice pack or something. But there was a lot of making each other laugh. What kind of student were you? I was always a little bit of a class clown. I was tiny and freckly, and I wanted girls to like me, so I figured the best way to do that was to make them laugh. Your son Russell is 5 now. What’s the biggest challenge of parenthood? Trying to learn how to be one! There’s no rule book, and nobody knows what they are doing.

‘I never thought that I wouldn’t make it.’ —OCTAVIA SPENCER, on becoming an actress, at the 2017 Makers Conference

What keeps you grounded? My wife [Mary Elizabeth Ellis] and I have been together for 15 years, and I’m still best friends with my childhood friends from Rhode Island. They’re not impressed with any of this. —JULIE JORDAN

THE DUCK DISHES ON THE

GRAMMYs

®

FOUR THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW, STRAIGHT FROM THE AFLAC DUCK—WHO WAS A PRODUCTION ASSISTANT FOR THE SHOW AND OUR EYES AND EARS (AND BILL!) BEHIND THE SCENES It took a squad of 150 stagehands, 130 technicians, 12 stage managers and one duck to produce the show. All of them worked hard knowing that even a small mishap could have huge consequences. Everyone loves a #partyfowl, and no one wants a #partyfoul.

Being prepared for mishaps is just as important for live shows as it is for life. Even though the main event lasted just three and a half hours, the Aflac duck and other performers spent three full days in rehearsals doing sound checks and camera blocking.

Over 1,000 lights were used to make sure the stars were their brightest that night. It took an entire crew of riggers, with help from the duck, nearly a week to load in and hang all of the equipment. Pro tip: Apply for supplemental insurance before you’re hoisting 160 tons of lights above your head.

The duck wasn’t the only one with a personal mic. There were 400 in use Sunday night, and every artist who hit the stage had his or her own.

Adele owned the night. She opened the show with her ubiquitous hit “Hello”; memorialized fellow Brit George Michael with a somber cover of “Fastlove” (which she stopped and restarted, explaining, “I can’t mess this up for him”); won all five of the awards she was up for; and even confirmed her marriage to longtime partner Simon Konecki during her Album of the Year nonacceptance speech. The star broke a trophy in two for fellow nominee Beyoncé.

THE NEW BACHELORETTE MAKES HISTORY BY CHRISTINA DUGAN

SHE WAS THE WOMAN Nick Viall chose to give a First Impression Rose on the current season of The Bachelor, and apparently the folks at the network agreed. Rachel Lindsay, 31, a Dallas lawyer, will be the next star of ABC’s singles juggernaut, becoming the new Bachelorette. The news, announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live Feb. 13, even as she remained on the current season of The Bachelor, wasn’t just reality trivia but also a bit of history: Lindsay will be the first AfricanAmerican woman to hand out roses. “I’m honored to be chosen to be the first,” she says. “I’m happy to represent myself as a black woman in front of America, and to have America rally behind me on my journey to find love.” PEOPLE February 27, 2017

The show has been criticized for its lack of diversity—in 33 seasons so far there had never been a black Bachelor or Bachelorette. But Lindsay says she doesn’t feel any added pressure when it comes to sifting through suitors. “Honestly, it’s not going to be that different from any other season of The Bachelorette,” she says. “Just because the color of my skin is different, it doesn’t mean my journey for love has to be any different. I’m still just a woman trying to find the One.” Which, she stresses, is the entire point of being on the show in the first place. “I’m at a stage in my life where I’m ready for a fam-

I want a guy who is not afraid of that.” But will she be looking for another Nick-type or decide to take a different path? “I’m really not picky,” she says with a laugh. “Physically, I really don’t have a type, but I’m a sucker for a great smile,” she says. “But I’m rooting for me! Is love going to happen? Where is he? I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do this again, but this time I’m in the driver’s seat! I get to have my choice!”

February 27, 2017 PEOPLE

It wasn’t the fresh start Mischa Barton had hoped for. After an attempt to jump-start her career with a stint on Dancing with the Stars last year, the troubled actress, 31, made headlines when erratic behavior at her Jan. 25 birthday party led to an overnight hospitalization. At the time Barton told People she’d been drugged with GHB and “voluntarily went to get professional help.” Two weeks later the fformer O.C. star was moving out of her West Hollywood apartment when she W misjudged the height of a carport and crashed a U-Haul into an apartment building. “It was a mistake, but she was sober,” says a friend. “She just wants to get her career going again, change people’s perception of her and move on.”

Trent Lamar Jackson with Katherine Jackson in 2016.

THE STAR, 46, BATTLES MYTHOLOGICAL MONSTERS IN HIS ACTION-PACKED FILM You learned archery for your new movie, The Great Wall. Do you impress friends and family with your bow-and-arrow skills? No. Well, I can shoot CGI arrows as well as anybody. I’d give Orlando Bloom [Lord of the Rings star archer Legolas] a run for his money in a CGI arrow battle. But the guy who trained me is the best in the world. He actually removed one of his thumbs above the knuckle so he could do it faster. What do you think of the Internet’s obsession with your character’s hair? It was the man bun, which was fun. I mean they put 700 extensions in, it took like 12 hours, and then I had to try and keep them in. By the timee they cut them out, it was like a rat’ss nest. I took a picture of it. I think there was stuff living in there. Did you enjoy having your family with you on location? It was incredible. We were filming in China for six months. The kids really love it there. They keep asking to go back!

MY MORNING ROUTINE One would think that actress Karla Souza, 31, who stars in How to Get Away with Murder and in the new film Everybody Loves Somebody, would be too busy to get eight hours of sleep a night, but she’s revamped her routine to ensure shut-eye. “It’s not easy!” she says, adding that she even maintains a no-phones-after-9 p.m. rule. 9:30 a.m.: Shower Time “While I’m taking a shower, I listen to an international music app called Radiooooo. I choose the country and the year I want music from, so I have access to some different sounds and tastes.”

10 a.m.: Breakfast “I have two eggs with a piece of turkey, with a little dash of cottage cheese, and then I take my coffee in the car. I like to listen to NPR if I don’t have a call. My commute takes an hour, so the car is a big part of my life.” 10:30 a.m.: Glam Squad “All my makeup is done on-set. On weekends I let my skin breathe and don’t wear any makeup!” —KATHERINE RICHTER

There seems to be more drama ahead for the Jackson family. On Feb. 8 matriarch Katherine Jackson, 86, took out a restraining order in Los Angeles against her nephew and driver, Trent Lamar Jackson, 52. According to court papers obtained by People, “bank accounts have been accessed by Trent without authorization” and Jackson has been subjected to “years of mental/emotional abuse.” The situation has left her “in a constant state of fear and confusion.” A judge granted Jackson’s request and ordered her nephew to move out, but Jackson, who was in London visiting her daughter Janet and new grandchild when papers were filed, says she’s still “afraid to go home with Trent there.” A family source tells People that the situation deteriorated in recent years. “After Michael died, Trent went from being a driver to acting like he owned the place.” (Attempts to reach Lamar Jackson were not returned.) On Feb. 9, Matthew Badger, 51, whose three daughters perished in a horrific fire at his ex-wife’s home on Dec. 25, 2011, in Stamford, Conn., died of “natural causes,” according to his longtime girlfriend Abby Ballin, who told People he was surrounded by friends and family. “He was a fighter till the end,” says Ballin. “I’m just so happy he doesn’t have to fight anymore. He’s free.” Badger’s ex-wife Madonna mourned his passing as well, writing on Facebook: “He is with his children and his parents and his brother Mark. My heart is broken but also joyous that they are together.” Following the deaths of daughter Lily, 9, and twins Sarah and Grace, 7, Badger cofounded the LilySarahGraceFund (lilysarahgrace.org) with Ballin to fund the arts in public schools. “I’m trying to make up for what three little girls would have done for the planet,” he told People in 2012. Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Shailene Woodley as truly desperate housewives COMEDY-DRAMA Based on Liane Moriarty’s bestseller, Lies starts on a funny if familiar note of suburban satire in the form of one Madeline Mackenzie (Witherspoon), a neurotically dynamic stay-at-home mom in affluent Monterey, Calif. Control freak, taskmaster, breeder of grudges—she’s described as “an itty-bitty ball of rage”—she’s at war with another straining-after-perfection mother, Renata (Laura Dern), and not above ruining Renata’s daughter’s birthday party. But below this comedy there’s a dark story—framed, in fact, by a violent death. One of Madeline’s friends, the beautiful, accomplished Celeste (Kidman), is being physically abused by her husband (Alexander Skarsgård), and another, Jane (Shailene Woodley), is so scared, she keeps a pistol beneath her pillow. Superbly acted,Lies turns out to be less about catfighting wives than the bruising, even soul-killing sexual struggle between men and women.(HBO, Feb. 19. 9 p.m.)

The Good Fight

Forget the Florricks! Christine Baranski returns as Chicago’s savviest lawyer DRAMA This Good Wife spinoff, which will be streaming at CBS All Access, brings back two familiar attorneys—brisk, bristling Diane Lockhart (Baranski) and quieter, easy-to-underestimate Cush Jumbo (Lucca Quinn)—and sets them up in a new Chicago firm. The pilot feels unfocused, but that’s probably just a matter of adjusting to the loss of Julianna Margulies and her softly accusing stare. It’s got an ace cast (Delroy Lindo, Rose Leslie) and (like the original) a plotline that’s nicely scalloped with surprises. AMAL AND GEORGE CLOONEY

First Comes Marriage, Then Comes...

50

February 27, 2017 PEOPLE

On the set of his movie Suburbicon late last year, George and Amal Clooney couldn’t seem to contain their happiness— and his coworkers couldn’t help but wonder. “George and Amal were both glowing,” says a set source. “There were hints and rumors about her being pregnant. She seemed careful with food and didn’t have any caffeine.” During Amal’s several visits to the set, “she greeted everyone with a friendly handshake and a huge smile. She acted very down-to-earth. She didn’t ask for anything and just wanted to hang out in the background. George wouldn’t really let her, though. He would bring her around the set, beam and introduce her as ‘my wife, Amal.’ It was very cute to see how excited he was.” Several weeks later the world was finally let in on their not-so-little secret. The former perennial bachelor, 55, who stunned everyone in 2014 by proposing to Amal, a Lebanese-British human-rights lawyer, is about to become a first-time father—times two. Multiple sources confirmed to People that Amal, 39, is expecting twins—a boy and a girl— this spring. “George is excited but nervous,” says a source close to the couple’s

BABIES ON BOARD!

The role of dad is just the latest development in

Clooney’s happily-ever-after script—a storyline the actor didn’t necessarily envision writing for himself before he met Amal in October 2013. “I don’t have that gene that people have to replicate,” Clooney told People when he was named Sexiest Man Alive in 2006. “But n eeverything in my life has changed over ttime.” After marrying in an elaborate fourday Venice celebration in September 2014, the two began a life together that has been “definitely quieter, more family-oriented” than Clooney’s single days, says an insider, despite their travels around the world for work, play and humanitarian causes. Most recently the couple have been spending more time at their mansion in the countryside west of London that they reportedly purchased for $12 million shortly after their wedding. Just-completed renovations include a new pool, theater room, garden terrace—and now likely a double nursery. Marrying Amal “sort of changed everything in terms of what I thought my future—my personal future—was going to be,” George told People in 2015. “I wasn’t always completely optimistic about how it was going to work out personally for me. But now I am.” Says one source: “Because he’s waited so long, it has all come very late, but very quickly to him. Seeing them together, it’s like looking at a different portrait of his life now. He’s so in love with her.”

While the Clooneys have no intention of making a

public announcement about the pregnancy, they have privately shared their joy with close friends and family. Suburbicon costar Matt Damon said George pulled him aside to share the good news when Amal was only eight weeks pregnant. “I almost started crying,” Damon told Entertainment Tonight Canada. “I was so happy for him.” Pal Don Cheadle told People at a Grammys party that he’d known for a while, but “we keep each other’s secrets.” Then he cracked, “I’m going to have to raise them!”

Over the holidays the cou uple “quietlyy lett everyone in both families know, ow,” says another insider, and Amal’s mother, Baria Alamuddin, was spotted recently buying vintage children’s books at a secondhand bookstore in London. Both are very close with their own parents. George “will be a great father because he’s always had a very strong sense of family,” says the longtime insider. “That comes from his father, Nick, and mother, Nina. If you look at it, he’s had a kind of family around him, he’s extremely loyal to friends.” The couple have hosted Amal’s mom, her dad, Ramzi, and her siblings at their English estate. 2015, she was in labor for nearly two full days. When the baby finally arrived, in a home birth attended by a midwife, Jessa had to be rushed to the hospital because of excessive bleeding and required a transfusion. “It was intense and completely exhausting,” she recalls of the dramatic delivery. “I slept for 24 straight hours afterwards.” This time she braced for the worst, but the birth of her second child instead proved to be a much more peaceful experience. “Labor is labor, but it was calm and relaxed,” she says. Opting for a home birth again, Jessa enlisted the same midwife and assistant to deliver the baby. Just before midnight on Feb. 5, her water broke, and within two hours she was experiencing strong contractions. From there, “Ben and

Ben compares it to sports. “Right now we have two kids and there’s two of us, so it’s man-to-man coverage,” he says. “When we have more, we’ll have to switch it up to a zone defense!” Though having two children under the age of 2 would overwhelm most parents, for the Seewalds, adding even more children to their quickly growing brood is something they’re already anticipating. “You can’t really describe the love that you have for your children,” says Jessa. “Before the new baby I would think, ‘How could I ever love another child as much as I love Spurgeon?’ But the second I saw him it blows you away. We definitely want a lot of kids.” That isn’t exactly a surprising statement given the megafamily in which Jessa was raised. The fourth of 19 children born to Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Jessa, 24, first found fame alongside her siblings on her parents’ TLC reality show 19 Kids and Counting. Now she’s on her way to following in her famous parents’ footsteps with back-to-back babies of her own. “My mom always says, ‘Love doesn’t divide, it multiplies,’” says Jessa. “It’s so true.” In the months leading up to baby Henry’s arrival, the reality star, whose pregnancy is heavily featured on the new season of her TLC series Counting On (Mondays, 9/8c), was preparing herself for another long, painful delivery. 1. “In hindsight I can say yes, it was easier than the first time,” says Jessa (with baby Henry). “But in the moment it felt like, ‘I can’t do this. Somebody else, take over!’ ” 2. Jessa praises her husband, Ben, as “such a huge, huge help to me. He’s just always there to offer support.” 3. Their toddler Spurgeon “is still pretty young, so he doesn’t take it personally if we devote a little more attention to the baby,” dad Ben explains. “He runs around and plays and does his own thing a lot of the time.” 2

So there was a lot going on in my mind. I was trying to pray.” As it turned out, Jessa and the baby were perfectly healthy. After taking a “nice long nap,” the couple got to work on naming the newest member of their family—a tall order considering his brother’s unique moniker. “We wanted to look at him and see his personality and then make a final decision,” Jessa says. While she thought the name Henry was “cute,” the couple chose Wilberforce for a very specific reason. “We named him after William Wilberforce, who was a key player in abolishing the slave trade throughout the British Empire,” Ben, 21, explains. “He was the type of person when you knock him down, he’d get back up stronger than before, so that was something I really admired.” As for their firstborn’s reaction to his new sibling, Spurgeon is still getting used to the idea. “We thought, ‘This is going to be so adorable,’ but he wasn’t really sure about it,” says Jessa. “He thought Henry was a toy, so he wanted to touch his eyes and put his finger in the baby’s mouth.” Adds Ben: “He has no concept of being soft.” The family is already settled in with a new routine: Jessa feeds the baby, and Ben changes all the diapers. “He’s gotten so good he could do it with his eyes closed!” Jessa boasts. And while the Seewalds are loving life as a family of four, they are already getting serious about expanding their brood to, well, Duggar-like numbers.“Itwillbealittlewhile sincewejust had a baby, but adopting and fostering to adopt is very much in our hearts,”says Jessa.Nowthey’relooking for ahouse big enough to accommodate everybody. “We just need a little more space,” Jessa says with a laugh. “We’re always checking the market!”

I were surprised how fast it went.” Baby Henry was born at 4:26 a.m. on Feb. 6, weighing 8 lbs. 11 oz., arriving so quickly that matriarch Michelle, 50, and oldest Duggar daughter Jana nearly missed the birth. “They came at the very end,” Jessasays. “Iwas already pushing when they walked in the door.” One person in particular Jessa was happy to have present was her sister Jill Duggar Dillard, who’s also pregnant with her second, due in July. “We were really thankful that she was able to be here,” Jessa says of Jill, who is set to return to Central America with her husband, Derick, and son Israel, 22 months, for several months of mission work before the birth of their own second son. “It was so fun to have her here to meet Henry.” At home, Ben was overjoyed to welcome the newest member of the Seewald family but admits he was worried about his wife’s health. “There were a lot of emotions when I was holding Henry for the first time,” he says. “I was really grateful, but it was also at the same point where we had to transfer Jessa to the hospital the last time.

hile many Americans watched the Super Bowl, Jamie Lynn Spears was living through a mother’s nightmare. On Feb. 5, Spears’s daughter Maddie, 8, accidentally drove an ATV into a pond at the singer-songwriter’s home in Kentwood, La. Spears, 25, and Maddie’s stepdad, Jamie Watson, watched helplessly as paramedics pulled the submerged child from the vehicle’s safety netting and seat belt—taking a few minutes to bring her to the surface. Maddie was rushed to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, where her mother, Watson and father Casey Aldridge, 27, kept vigil. “They sat around her bed, talked to her, held hands and prayed,” a friend of Aldridge tells People.Because ofthelengthoftimeMaddiespent underwater, “everyone was really worried because they didn’t know how bad the brain injury was. Jimmy Kimmel makes no bones about it: Matt Damon should be afraid. Very afraid. When the Jimmy Kimmel Live! star takes the stage to host the 89th Academy Awards on Feb. 26 (airing live on ABC at 7 p.m. ET), he says Damon—who is nominated as a producer for Manchester by the Sea—will surely be the brunt of a few jokes. “He got nominated, unfairly obviously, for producing,” says Kimmel, 49, who has had an infamous 11-year faux feud with Damon. “You know he doesn’t produce anything. Maybe he produces garbage at home.” But the rest of the star-studded crowd can rest easy. Kimmel, who has previously hosted the Emmys and the American Music Awards, says he doesn’t plan to make anyone uncomfortable. “You have to make the audience laugh,” he says. “That’s the key.”

JIMMY’S OSCAR SQUAD

Are you nervous to host the Oscars for the first time?

Billy Crystal Kimmel sought advice from the nine-time host: “We got used to him being great, like the Patriots winning the Super Bowl.”

The thing I remember more than anything is when Roberto Benigni walked over the seats. It was the Oscars version of Michael Jackson moonwalking. It was magical.

Are you going to sing and dance?

Mom and Dad His parents, Joan (she made PB&J sandwiches for the Emmys audience) and James, will be at the show, but “she won’t be cooking.”

When did you get the call with the hosting offer?

I was coming back home from vacation in Hawaii. I was in the airport. I looked like I’d seen a ghost. Then I had to tell my wife, who had just suffered through three months of Emmy anxiety with mee. How did your wife [Molly McNearney, cohead writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live!] react?

She wasn’t thrilled. I think she cursed. She’ll be backstage with me writing jokes. How do you balance Oscar prep and your day job?

It’s not easy. It takes what little free time I have. My daughter [Jane, 2] takes a big

Yeah! Anybody who tells you they don’t care what people think is probably lying. I talked to Billy Crystal, and he still gets nervous before every performance. If he still gets nervous, by all rights I should get nervous. Do you have a favorite Oscar moment?

What was your first Oscars?

I snuck into the Governors Ball—I think it was in 1995. I was the morning host for Kevin & Bean on KROQ radio. Kevin and I put on our tuxedos and we figured if we got there early enough, we would become part of the scenery. We hung around for nine hours; then the Oscars ended and everyone started filing in, and they did a security sweep and kicked us out. But we made a U-turn and went right back in. We sat down with John Travolta and we told him we snuck in, and he was laughing. He got the waiter to bring us food.

chunk out of it, and then the Oscars take the rest. From a psychological standpoint, it’s hard to focus on your Wednesday-night show when you know you have this big show coming up. It’s almost like if you knew you’re going to the Super Bowl and you have to finish the regular season along the way.

“It’s like a family affair,” Kimmel says of having pals Ben Affleck and Matt Damon expected in the audience.

Ellen DeGeneres Kimmel says DeGeneres was among his favorite Oscar hosts: “I think she did a phenomenal job.”

Unless someone brings a gun out and forces me to sing and dance like Yosemite Sam, I probably won’t. It should be a relief to all. How will you deal with politics?

I haven’t decided exactly how much I will dwell on that. A lot of it depends on what happens that week. There are one, sometimes three new, interesting stories coming out of the White House every day, it seems—so who knows what will be happening? You’re so successful already. Why say yes to such a high-pressure gig?

I guess the only way to determine the answer to that question is in hindsight. If it went well it makes perfect sense that you said yes, and if it doesn’t, it makes none. I guess it’s a challenge. I’m not crazy about challenges. I don’t like skiing. I don’t like tests. I’d rather take the path of least resistance—but it’s a career opportunity you can’t ignore. For a comedian, there are very few gigs of this caliber. What are you doing after the show?

I will probably go to a party or two, unless it’s some kind of a disaster, and then I’ll go to the hospital. I’ll either go to Vanity Fair or Cedars-Sinai.

NEW JERSEY TEEN MURDER PLOT

Two months after Sarah Stern’s mysterious disappearance, police say that she was murdered—and arrest her two closest friends By S T E V E H E L L I N G

The Victim Sarah Stern was close friends with the suspects, even going with Taylor to the prom (inset).

n thehalls of NewJersey’s NeptuneHighSchool, Sarah Stern would often act out skits with best friends Preston Taylor and Liam McAtasney. The pals had been inseparable since they met growing up on the Jersey Shore; the trio even went to the prom together, with Stern and Taylor as one of the couples in a group that included McAtasney and his date. “They knew eachother’slocker combinations,” says classmate Morgan Randall. “They were that close.” So when Stern’s car was found abandoned on a bridge near her home Dec. 3, it wasn’t surprising that Taylor and McAtasney joined the search for the 19-year-old artist. “They helped search bushes and posted flyers on Facebook,” says Randall.“Theysaidtheywere lookingforanswers.” Chillingly, police say they knew the answers all along. On Feb. 1 McAtasney and Taylor, both 19, were charged in connection with Stern’s death. Police say the duo plotted to rob their friend of thousands of dollars before strangling her. At a Feb. 7 hearing, prosecutors alleged that after McAtasney killed Stern, he called Taylor, and the two teens dumped Stern’s body into the Shark River, abandoning her car with —CLASSMATE MORGAN the keys still in the ignition. RANDALL McAtasney is charged with first-degree murder, while Taylor is charged with disturbing human remains and hindering prosecution. McAtasney’s attorney Chuck Moriarty tells People his client “maintains his innocence.” (At press time, neitherhasenteredaplea.)“It’sjustunbelievable,” Sarah’s father, Michael Stern, told theAsbury Park Press. “Unfathomable. Deplorable. Disgusting.” While the teens are being held without bond, those who knew Stern are struggling to process their loss. “It’s sad to think of what she went through,” says Randall. “But if [McAtasney and Taylor] are responsible for this, that makes it even worse. The betrayal? That’s devastating.”

Inspired, he decided to build Lylah her own obstacle course, complete with cargo net, zip line and balance beam challenges, in their backyard in Northglenn, Colo. “She has always loved to jump and climb,” he says, “and I’m out there doing everything with her. I’ve been able to become a kid again.” This past October he posted a video on Reddit of Lylah tackling the course—with his own running commentary and an audience of her stuffed-animal friends—that’s since received more than a million comments. “I sat there one night for two hours and read comments, and I was in tears,” says MacCall, a photographer for a boxing company. “It’s crazy how this is inspiring people to want to do this themselves. Jeong, 47, was thrilled when Zooey showed interest in comedy and guest-starring on Dr. Ken, but he’s equally happy that Alexa became a competitive gymnast. “No one in our family had ever done gymnastics, but my wife [Tran Ho] and I want our daughters to find their own passions,” he says. “We encourage them to be unique in their own ways.”

If you purchased BrainStrong Products between January 1, 2011 and March 4, 2016, this Notice is to inform you of a proposed class action settlement that could affect your legal rights. Amy Jovel and Michael Yee v. i-Health, Inc., Case No. 1:12-cv-05614-JG-MDG What Is This Notice About? A proposed settlement has been reached in a class action lawsuit pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The lawsuit alleges violations of consumer protection and warranty laws, and claims that i-Health, Inc. (“i-Health”) misrepresented certain benefits of a group of supplements sold as “BrainStrong” brand products in the United States. i-Health denies all of these allegations. The Court did not rule in favor of Plaintiffs or i-Health. Instead the parties agreed to a proposed settlement in order to avoid the expense and risks of continuing the lawsuit. Am I A Member Of The Class? You are a Settlement Class Member if you purchased a BrainStrong Product with Docosahexaenoic acid (including BrainStrong Toddler, BrainStrong Kids, and BrainStrong Adult) in the United States between January 1, 2011 and March 4, 2016. Excluded from the Settlement Class are i-Health and its parents, past and present, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, assignors, predecessors, successors and assigns; the past or present partners, shareholders, managers, members, directors, officers, employees, agents, attorneys, insurers, accountants and representatives of any and all of the foregoing entities; any government entities; and persons who purchased BrainStrong Products for the purpose of resale. What Does The Settlement Provide? Subject to Court approval, the parties have agreed to a settlement (“Settlement”) under which you may be entitled to receive a cash payment. If the Settlement is approved by the Court, i-Health will provide members of the Settlement Class with cash or optional voucher awards for the BrainStrong Products s/he purchased. Settlement Class Members who submit Proof of Purchase with their Claim Form, will receive a full monetary refund of the actual price paid for the BrainStrong Products purchased. Settlement Class Members who submit a Claim Form with Proof of Purchase that does not state the actual price paid, will receive a monetary refund of the average retail price for the BrainStrong Product purchased. Settlement Class Members who submit a Claim Form without Proof of Purchase, will receive their choice of either a monetary refund of $4.00 in cash or a $6.50 voucher toward the purchase of any i-Health product. What Are My Rights? You have a choice of whether to stay in the Class or not, and you must decide this now. If you stay in the Class, you will be legally bound by all orders and judgments of the Court, and you will not be able to sue, or continue to sue, i-Health as part of any other lawsuit involving the same claims that are in this lawsuit. This is true even if you do nothing by not submitting a claim. 1. You can accept the Settlement. If you wish to receive the benefits under the Settlement, you MUST submit a Claim Form by June 19, 2017. You can obtain a Claim Form: (1) on the Internet at www.brainhealthdhasettlement.com; (2) by calling the Claims Administrator at 1-888-283-6979; or (3) by mailing a written request for a Claim Form including your name and mailing address to: Jovel v. i-Health Claims Administrator, PO Box 40007, College Station, Texas 778424007. If you fail to timely submit a Claim Form and do not exclude yourself from the Settlement, you will be bound by the Settlement but will not receive any benefits of the Settlement. 2. You can object to the Settlement. If you believe the Settlement is unsatisfactory, you may file a written objection with the Clerk of the Court for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York and send copies to the following Counsel representing the Class and i-Health: Plaintiffs’ Counsel: Patricia N. Syverson, Esq., Bonnett Fairbourn Friedman & Balint, P.C., 2325 E. Camelback Rd., Suite 300, Phoenix, Arizona 86016; i-Health’s Counsel: Frank Spano, Esq., Hogan Lovells US LLP, 875 Third Avenue, New York, New York 10022. Your written objection must be postmarked no later than April 28, 2017. 3. You can “opt out” of the Settlement. If you do not wish to participate in this Settlement, you must provide written notice so indicating. Such notice must include your name, address, and telephone number. You must mail the request for exclusion to the Settlement Administrator at Jovel v. i-Health Claims Administrator, PO Box 40007, College Station, Texas 77842-4007 or submit a valid exclusion form online through the Settlement Website. The request must be postmarked or submitted online no later than April 28, 2017. Please be advised that if you request exclusion from or “opt out” of the Settlement, you will not receive any benefits under the Settlement, and will be responsible for any attorneys’ fees and costs you incur if you choose to pursue your own lawsuit. The Fairness Hearing. On May 19, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., the Court will hold a hearing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York to determine: (1) whether the proposed Settlement is fair, reasonable and adequate and should receive final approval; and (2) whether the application for Plaintiffs’ attorneys’ fees and expenses (up to $250,000) and an incentive award (up to $1,000 each) to the two Class Representatives should be granted. Objections to the proposed Settlement by Settlement Class Members will be considered by the Court, but only if they are filed by April 28, 2017, as explained above. Settlement Class Members who support the proposed Settlement do not need to appear at the hearing or take any other action to indicate their approval. How Can I Get More Information? If you have questions or want a detailed notice or other documents about this lawsuit and your rights, visit www.brainhealthdhasettlement. com. You may also contact Class Counsel by emailing psyverson@bffb.com, or by writing to: Jovel v. i-Health Claims Administrator, PO Box 40007, College Station, Texas 77842-4007, or by calling 1-888-283-6979. Please do not contact the Court or Clerk for information. By Order of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York

Will Arnett THE ACTOR, 46, IS THE CAPED CRUSADER IN THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Last guilty pleasure I’ve been working overseas and always have early call times. But I recently watched a hockey game at 1 in the morning, even though I knew I had to work. I was just like, “Screw it.” It’s more of a pure pleasure.

Last perfect day off I took my two kids [Archie, 8, and Abel, 6] to the Harry Potter studio tour in London. I usually try to sleep as much as I can on my days off, but they’re huge Harry Potter fans, so just being with them and walking around the set was the best.

Last time I bingewatched a show

98

Athletes usually do it to me. I have a friend who played in the NHL for years, and I make him introduce me to hockey players. But I met Michael Keaton. I’m such a huge fan of his—I mean, he’s the first Batman on film. I just think he’s so awesome.

Last irrational fear Turbulence! I didn’t used to be a nervous flier, but now I am. Sometimes I’m like, “Just remember, it’s like bumps in the road.” And then other times I’m like, “Oh, for the love of Christ!” I don’t really have a biggest fear though. My biggest hope is that my kids are happy. If my kids are happy, everything else is gravy to me. Reported by Jodi Guglielmi
