Design Description Tainan Event 是一個針對臺南在地展覽提供相關資訊的ＡＰＰ，包含展出主題、 展期、地點等等，也包含了講座資訊、展區週邊的食宿設施，並可針對不同展 覽更換內容資訊，讓手機成為導覽工具，觀展人便於隨身查詢。
Tainan Event is an app that provides information about Tainan's many exhibitions, including the theme, location, duration, etc. It also includes lecture information, accommodation and other facilities around the exhibition area. It can be customized for different exhibitions and serve as a navigation tool for visitors.

Background
臺南是文化古都，近來舉辦展覽的次數日漸增加，但卻無一個好的數位工具， 可提供展覽資訊讓觀展的訪客使用。但是每一個展覽都設計導覽網站或 APP，展 覽結束後就無法繼續使用，會造成所謂數位浪費。臺南市研考會特別針對這點， 提出設計一個可以針對不同展覽更換內容資訊的導覽 APP。 臺南也是一個旅遊城市，有著許多古蹟與美食等旅遊資源，而觀展人也可以是 旅客，本 APP 以展覽當一個旅遊的起點，介紹展區週邊的食、宿、遊、購等資訊， 讓觀展人在看完展覽後可以前往附近旅遊與消費。

Tainan is an ancient cultural capital. The number of exhibitions has been increasing recently, but there is no good digital tool for providing local information for visitors to an exhibition. Every exhibition is designed with a guide website or APP. But after the exhibition is over, they cannot be used anymore, which will cause so-called digital waste. Tainan Research, Development and Evaluation Commission proposed to design a navigation app that can be customized and reused for different exhibitions. As Tainan is also a tourist destination with many resources such as monuments and food. Exhibition attendees can also be tourists. This app takes the exhibition as a starting point for a tour round Tainan, introducing food, accommodations, travel, shopping, and other nearby points of interest. After attending an exhibition, visitors can tour nearby places, monuments and shops.
Interview
臺南市政府研考會 Interview with Tainan Research, Development and Evaluation Commission 不希望展出結束，APP 就沒用了，希望是一款可以針對不同展覽皆能使用的導覽 APP，只要有新展覽，都可以彈性調整上架內容。並且思考，能否利用展覽為臺 南帶來觀光的效益，讓人們更認識這塊南方的土地。
Once an exhibition ends, the corresponding APP becomes useless. The hope is the APP can be adopted to different exhibitions, that it will have enough flexibility to allow such customization. Considerations will be given to encouraging tourism with the many exhibitions hosted in Tainan -and let people know more about this southern area of Taiwan.
Persona 展覽資源很難得出現在台南地區，想要好好逛逛展覽，並順道繞繞周邊的台南 小吃或附近玩樂景點，但由於不全然熟悉路況，希望 app 能有清楚的周邊推薦 及導航協助。
It is difficult to find information for the area around an exhibition in Tainan. I would love to use the opportunity while I am there to make side trips and enjoy the snacks and attractions nearby. However, as I am not very familiar with the roads around town, I wish an app can provide navigation functions as well as tourist recommendations.

設計擴展性 Design for scalability 可擴展與模組化的設計，能針對不同主題重複使用，避免 浪 費。Scalable and modular design that can be reused for
different topics to avoid needless development.
設計可發現性 Design for discoverability 觀展者於行動中使用本 APP，可能會因週邊環境而造成閱讀 干擾，所以訊息呈現ＵＩ應直白明確，並易於發掘與探索。
The UI design should be clear and easy to read as the user will be viewing it on-the-go. The app should afford easy explorations and discovery.
探索週邊 Exploring nearby area 清楚呈現展覽週邊的旅遊景點與食、宿、遊、購，吸引使用 者在觀展之餘前往消費或遊覽。
Clearly mark the tourist attractions around the exhibition area in regards to food, accommodation, explorations, and shopping, making it easy to visit and to make purchases.
友善協助 Friendly help 觀展人在觀展中可能會遇見的相關問題，如購票訊、交通資 訊、週邊資訊、聯繫客服等等都用顯眼直覺的設計呈現，讓 使用者便於搜尋。
Relevant issues that visitors may encounter during the exhibition, such as ticketing, traffic updates, local information, customer service contact, etc., are presented in an obvious and intuitive design making it easy for users to search.

Design Description 這是一款前往臺南市政府洽公的便民 app，透過手機中的藍芽偵測市府內佈建的 Beacon，進而提供室內定位與路線導引的功能，避免市民在廣大的市府中迷失 方向，並於洽公前提醒需要準備相關事項如證件等等，讓整個洽公過程更有效 率。我們的任務，是改善原 app 不佳的介面及使用者經驗 (UI/UX)。
This is an app that can assist residents when they need to conduct business at the Tainan city government. The resident’s Bluetooth device is connected to Beacons installed throughout the building work as an indoor positioning system to guide the user within the maze of the vast city structure. Ahead of a visit, the user can get reminders of appointments or needed documents, which make the whole process more efficient. Our mission is to improve the interface and user experience of the original app.

Challenge
「洽公小幫手」是一個舊有的 app，雖有龐大資料但整理不詳，有許多操作上的 困難點。 因此，我們花了很多時間與單位辦公窗口、市府內洽公民眾交談，了 解常遇上的問題與流程。 接下來，我們做了一些研究分析，以掌握「洽公小幫手」可以提供的核心價值 和解決方案，並融合我們第一線訪談所接收到的新的信息，與用戶流程和設計 相結合，來優化此 app 的使用體驗。
The existing app features lots of information but it is not well organized. To begin the design process we spent time talking with the public workers and citizens to understand the process and problems that are often encountered. Next, we did analysis to explore the information and solutions that the app can provide, and to integrate the knowledge we received from the first-hand interviews. These insights and the user process flow design are combined to optimize the experience of this app.

臺南市政府 Interview with Tainan city government 市民洽公有許多常見到的問題，我們已經整理成清單，但過去沒有一個平台可 以讓市民查詢，常常重複地為民眾解釋情況，例如要找什麼單位、攜帶什麼 文件等等，為此花了許多時間，希望這個 app 可以讓民眾前往市府前，清楚 查詢到自己洽公事項及所需準備文件。另外希望結合市府內可供室內定位的 Beacon，讓手機可以成為導引民眾至洽公地點的工具。
Persona
We compiled a list of the common problems during a citizen’s visit. In the past, there was no platform for the public to inquire about the needed documentation or processes involved. The situation was often repeatedly explained to the visitor, such as what offices to look for, what documents to carry, etc., which wasted time. The aspiration is that this app will allow people to prepare for their visit and check the required documents. In addition the hope is that the Beacon, which is available for indoor positioning in the city hall, can be used as a tool to guide people to the offices.
洽公需要的文件很繁雜，常常好不容易排隊等到了窗口，才發現忘了帶印章或 是其他文件等等；另外，我也很需要知道哪些事情要去找哪一個單位協助。
The documents required by the departments are very complicated. It may took a long time to wait in line at the window, only to find that I forgot to bring a seal or some other document. In addition, I also need to know which office deals with what affairs.

The Discovery
主次不明確，資訊雜亂
Information is lacking in hierarchy and showing poor organization 主要功能是洽公業務查詢導引，但舊有ａｐｐ廣告版位卻佔了大幅面積。建議 將主要功能放大，並將查詢放置於更顯眼的位置。
Even though the main function is to provide search query guide, the old app feature advertising as the dominate element. We propose the enlargement of the icons showing the app’s main functions at first glance and the placement of the search function in a more prominent position.
功用直覺 Intuitive icon 原 app icon 圖 型 為 一 錨 點， 讓 人 聯 想到地圖或導航。無法直覺了解到本 app 的主要功能，是成為洽公民眾的 小幫手，有點像百貨公司中的服務臺， 而大家熟知的服務中心的標誌應如 下。
The original app icon is an anchor that typically represents a map or navigation app. One cannot intuitively get the idea that it is actually an app for facility guidance – such as the service desk commonly found in a department store. The logo of a similar service center should be as follow.
缺乏必要資訊
Lack of vital information 原 app 僅呈現各處室的位置導航，卻 沒有進一步民眾說明，各單位所負責 業務及所需準備文件等等。

The original app only shows the location of each department, but there is no further explanation of the business of the office nor information about required documents.
地圖不易閱覽 Maps are hard to comprehend 原地圖設計中使用的顏色較雜亂，且同時有「位置」、「導引」兩個字義相似但使用功能不同的按鈕，容易讓使用者困擾。
The color scheme for the original maps lacks clarity. Two of the buttons use similar words, "position" and "guidance", pointing to two very distinct functions making it confusing.
Design Criteria
專注核心需求 Focus on core needs 過去 app 焦點及想呈現的訊息太多，現在專注於滿足 80% 使用者的 需求並解核心問題 - 市府洽公協助。Previously, the focus of the app
was too scattered and trying to show too much. Now it will focus on the most common needs of 80% of the users - the assistance in office visits.
重要的事先看到 Important matters first 洽公相關協助是本 app 的核心功能，應出現於使用者第一眼就能看 見且點擊的位置，次要的功能如政令宣導或市府活動，可收藏於次 選單中。Assistance with an office visit is the core function of this
app and it should appear at the app's startup. The secondary functions such as government policy education or city activities can be accessed from the menu.
可視性 Legibility 優 化 使 用 者 介 面， 例 如 用 顏 色 協 助 使 用 者 辨 識 地 圖， 讓 Beacon 導 航 功 能 可 被 簡 單 使 用。Optimize the user interface, such as
using colors to help users interpret the map, making the Beacon navigation easy to use.
體貼使用者 User friendly 使用者可建立選單收錄個人常用洽公事項，避免每一次都要重新找 資料的麻煩。Users can create personal menus to collect frequently
used items, avoiding the hassle of searching from scratch every time.

Design Description
大家都不想手去碰到公共垃圾桶，因為 覺得很髒。 "KICKS” 意思即是踢擊，以腳踢去開啟垃圾桶而不用觸碰到手，提供人們一種 新的方式與公共垃圾桶互動。並以簡潔、圓潤的設計外型，改變公共垃圾桶長 年以來在大家心目中的髒亂且外型不佳的形象。
Most people avoid touching public trash cans because it felt dirty. KICKS offer a new way for people to use the public trash can by kicking open the bin with their feet. With a simple and sleek design, KICKS changed the image of public trash can , for being messy and dirty to something clean and convenient.

Background
臺灣人口密集，雖然公共垃圾桶數量已經很多、容量也夠大，但還是常見溢出 來的垃圾散落在垃圾桶四周及我們的街頭，不但有礙觀膽，且增加清運垃圾的 人力、物力成本。我想要設計一款改變環境形象的公共垃圾桶，讓「維持街頭 乾淨」這件事更樂於被重視。
Taiwan is densely populated. Even though there are plenty of public trash cans and each of them are pretty big, there are still garbage spilling out of the cans and litter scattered all over the streets. This is not only unsightly, it also increases the cost for garbage pick up. The newly design KICKS trash can transform the image of public trash cans and make it a pleasure to keep the streets clean.

這是幾個臺灣常見的公共垃圾桶，普遍來說，多為側面投擲口，丟擲垃圾不易， 平頂設計也常造成垃圾堆積。 雖容量足夠，但有蓋的款式，大家多不願意碰觸；而無蓋的則有臭味瀰漫，讓 環境整體感覺髒亂。
These are a few commonly found trash cans in Taiwan. Most of them feature an openning on the side, making it not an easy task to throw the garbage inside. Also, the flattop afford trash accumulations. Although the capacity is sufficient, the design begs for improvements：the covered version requires touching by hand that most people are reluctant to do while the uncovered version causes odor problem, making the environment feels messy and dirty.

Science Study
公共垃圾桶的髒亂，可能跟防衛空間理論（defensible space theory）有關， 該理論主張，環境因子對於個體行為的影響深鉅，絕大多數的犯罪活動皆與環 境特性有關（Newman, 1972, 1996）。例如，垃圾散落的環境將暗示亂丟垃圾 是「可接受的」而引發更多人亂丟垃圾 （Cialdini et al., 1990）。
「若能改善環境特性，進而避免不當的環境暗示， 則應該能減少部分的遊客亂丟垃圾。」 The mess around public trash cans can be explained by the Defensible Space Theory which argues that environmental factors have a profound impact on individual behavior.（Newman, 1972, 1996） For example, the environment in which garbage is scattered around will suggest that littering is “acceptable” and leads to more littering. （Cialdini et al., 1990）
If the environment becomes clean and neat, the “cues” for littering will no longer be there. One can expect the reduction of littering. 26
Persona 外出旅遊，不太熟悉地理環境，洗手是件極不容易的事情。因此丟棄垃圾時， 希望可以盡量不碰觸到垃圾桶，並期望垃圾桶造型可以更美觀，不至破壞街景。
While traveling, hand washing can becomes a problem as it is not easy to find a convenient place to do so. When I have to use a trash can, a hands-free design would be perfect. Also, it would be nice if the design is pleasing to the eyes. That really adds to the beauty of a city.

Problem Findings & Design Criteria 避免碰觸 Hands-free 垃圾桶蓋普遍被認為有很多細菌，改用踢擊的方式開闔垃圾桶取代 手的直接接觸。The surface of a trash can is covered with germs.
Kicking mechanism avoid direct contacting of the hands.
堆積垃圾 Accumulations 平頂設計容易被擱置多餘的垃圾，因此將上蓋設計成斜頂。
The flat top design affords stacking of trash. Sloping roof doesn't.
安全問題 Fire hazard 將煙蒂、垃圾隔離，防止因未熄之煙蒂燃燒垃圾引起火災。
Prevention of garbage fire lit by cigarette butts. Dedicated compartment for cigarette butts separated from the rest of the can.
惡臭味 Odor 以往公共垃圾桶為求方便丟垃圾會採開口設計，但容易有臭味與蠅 蟲滋生，利用軸心設計讓垃圾桶在未使用時迴盪到閉合狀態。
In the past, public trash cans were designed for easy access, but inadvertently, it becomes a breeding ground for flies and prone to odor problem. Current design allows the can to return to closed position when not in use.
方便清倒 Maintenance 斜拉的施力方式讓清潔人員在清倒垃圾時，相較於垂直拉起整袋垃 圾，更為省力。The diagonal opening design makes it easier for
the cleaning crew to slide the whole bag out of the can.

「利用反幫椅子按摩的幽默感，提醒使用者 經常起身休息，以減少久坐帶來的傷害。」 Utilizing humor to remind the user to get up and take a break every so often, in order to reduce the occurrence of sedentary pain.

Design Description
椅子太舒服反而會成為久坐的幫兇。 臺灣人超時工作幾乎已成常態，也因此產生許多的疾病，最主要的原因皆來自於久坐。而市面上的辦公 椅僅強調人體工學的舒適度，反而成為久坐的幫兇。
站起來吧 ! 每經過一小時，RISER 的椅背就會傾斜到讓使用者無法安坐於上。設計理念是用詼諧的方式 – 「幫椅 子按摩才能繼續工作，而不是椅子按摩你」，「使用者得站起來幫椅子按摩使椅背回正」，提醒使用者 在一定的時間內起身休息活動，減少久坐病痛的發生。
Chair can lead to prolonged sitting when it is too comfortable. Taiwanese people routinely work overtime, and as a result, suffer from many diseases. The major culprit is prolonged sitting. While the ergonomic design of office chair in the market promotes comfort. It can inadvertently, encourage prolonged sitting.Every hour, the RISER's back will tilt to an extent that staying on the chair becomes impossible. Instead of a “massage chair”, Riser is a chair that needs to be massaged to return to it's upright functional state. 32

目前市面上販售的辦公椅總是強調舒適和人體工學，讓使用者坐再久也不會累， 然而因久坐引起的坐疾，就該由減少久坐的現象來解決，而非一昧的尋找適合 久坐的椅子。我想要設計一款「讓使用者主動起身活動」的辦公椅。
The office chairs on the market emphasize comfort and ergonomics, their promise for the user is long sitting without getting tired. However, health hazards caused by long hours of sedentary habits can only be solved by reducing the hours spent on the chair. The concept for the Riser is a chair that allows users to “get up and get around”

The American Cancer Society has examined the relationship between the duration of sitting and mortality rate of 120,000 Americans for 14 years. It is found that people who sit more than 6 hours a day are more likely to die from various diseases than those who sit less than 3 hours a day. Women are 37% more likely and men are 18% more. Statistics showed that the average person spends

Team Work
Tainan is renowned as the capital of the gods. Its collection of many traditional temples is unparalleled in in terms of their density and their antiquity. Alive and well, these temples have been part of the daily life in the alleyways of Tainan for the past 400 years and form the cultural backdrop of this unique urban landscape.

Challenge
臺南廟宇數量太多無法完善介紹。 臺南廟宇繁多，也無法將所有廟宇介紹完，廟宇藝術種類與品項也很豐富，一 間小廟就可有數十樣藝品可介紹，也充滿了大師與藝術價值很高的藝品，所以 在藝品介紹的選擇上也面臨了困難。
The sheer number of temples in Tainan makes it almost impossible for comprehensive coverage. It is not uncommon for a small temple to feature a few dozen artworks that are worth mentioning. Many were created by master craftsman and are very high in artistic value. Selection becomes exceedingly challenging.

Persona 覺得廟宇很美，偶爾會拍拍照，但以為進廟宇一定要燒香拜拜，擔心參觀會有 什 麽 規矩要遵守；也覺得廟宇裡面很多雕刻、繪畫、神像，有點眼花撩亂不知 道從何欣賞。
Greg thinks the temples are beautiful. He takes pictures occasionally while visiting. He wonders if it is expected of him to burn incense and worship while at the temple. The many sculptures, paintings and statues in the temple can become overwhelming to him at times.

Universality 通用性：建議一套簡單易懂的參觀的方法供旅客參考，此方 法多數的廟宇皆能適用。
Simple and easy to follow procedures that is universally appropriate for most of the temples.
Circulations 動線建議：定義出參觀動線與藝品鑑賞順序，讓旅客可以遵 循，不再擔心因參觀而冒犯信仰禮儀。
Define visitor protocol, suggest the order of visits and art appreciation. Free the tourists from worries about offending local customs.
Categorization 歸納整理：因為廟宇藝品繁多，我們將藝品歸類，並以簡單 的方式介紹廟宇藝術的價值觀、涵義及有趣的細節，讓不知 從何欣賞的旅客有觀看的重點與順序。
To tackle the sheer number and diversity of the temple artworks, the map categorize the art and describe their meaning, value, and interesting detail. Bringing focus and order to a temple visit.

Hand drawn traditional mapping motifs highlight the special features throughout the temples, adding to the visual interest of the Walking Map.

利用特寫、廣角與長鏡頭的攝影方式，進行廟宇藝品的拍攝，呈現廟宇藝品觀賞重點與細節。
Utilizing close-up, wide-angle and telephoto lenses, the photography emphasizes the details and noteworthy features in the temple.

Design Description 旭天能源為臺灣三大電信之一的遠傳電信轉投資之能源公司，是該集團跨足太 陽能市場之第一步，其企業識別除了展現新能源的專業外，也要具備該集團過 去之巨大有力之形象。
Prime ECO Power represent the first step into the solar energy market by one of the three major telecom companies in Taiwan-Far East Group. Its corporate identity needs to ref lect both its new energy focus as well as the large corporation that stands behind it.

Challenge
臺灣的反核運動一直持續不斷，並在福島核爆事件後達到高峰，核電除役與尋找安全穩定的新能源是目前臺灣政府的施政 目標，但取代核電的新能源一直受到擁核人士的攻擊，有了不穩定、容易污染、發電量不足的印象 。
Taiwan’s anti-nuclear movement has continued and reached its peak after the Fukushima nuclear explosion. Nuclear power decommissioning and the search for safe and stable new energy are the current government’s administrative goals. Meanwhile, pro-nuclear activists have been targeting new energy, claiming the alternatives to be unstable, polluting and insufficient in providing for the energy needs.
Interview 旭天能源作為遠東集團所投資的能源公司，其企業形象必須彰顯其大集團的規 模，有能力開發大型的能源專案與投資設備，具備智慧能源管理的技術，而非 一般小型的環保節能公司。
As an energy company under the Far East Group, Prime ECO Power needs to demonstrate the advantage of scale, such as its ability to handle major energy projects with investment in necessary equipment, as well as having the technological knowhow for smart energy management.
