Letter from the Mayor Dear Film Lovers and Festival Attendees: It is a great honor to be a part of the Fourth Annual Charlotte Black Film Festival (CBFF) on February 27 - March 1 2014. I am excited to celebrate 4 years of independent Black films with the CBFF and all of you. It is encouraging to see how the CBFF has grown and developed into the premier festival for films by and about people of color. Whether you are established in the film industry, an aspiring filmmaker, or a film enthusiast, the CBFF gives you a greater awareness and appreciation of the importance of telling our own stories. I would like to congratulate the filmmakers who have films in this year’s competition on being chosen to share their work. Over the next three days, you will have the opportunity to view films, attend panels and meet aspiring and established filmmakers. My hat is off to the incredible CBFF team for another event well done. I am most grateful to Tommy Nichols for his groundbreaking vision and look forward to this year’s CBFF. Best wishes to all for a wonderful festival experience! Sincerely,
Patrick D. Cannon Patrick D. Cannon Mayor Pro Tem
