What is SaeManGeum ? Saemangeum means “a new and brilliant land”, this is a land reclaimed from the sea and it is four times the size of Paris. This area has been developed for more than 2 decades to make it appropriate for agriculture and safe for human habitat with a modern and eco-friendly scientific approach. Today it has all necessary requirements to be the World Scout Jamboree venue with the best communication, commercial areas and a lot of attractions for the youth to come and enjoy the 25th World Scout Jamboree Korea 2023. Furthermore, the plan includes a permanent World Scout Center beyond 2023 and the biggest Jamboree area in history with an extension of more than 10 km2 next to the world’s largest maritime wall.
When will this happen in SaeManGeum ? It is already happening! The story of Saemangeum began in 2006 and it will be ready by 2022. It will have an independent international Airport to welcome to Korea all participants of the 25th World Scout Jamboree from August 1st to 12th of 2023.

Where is SaeManGeum ? SaeManGeum is geographically located in the province of Jeollabuk approximately 200 km south of Seoul off the shores of the Yellow Sea and can be reached by train or highway currently. Just 30 min away is the city of Jeonju ((capital city of the province) considered in the Top of the best tourist destinations of Asia by LonelyPlanet and NatGeo. It belongs to the SlowCities group of the world and it’s Hanok Village (traditional village) and gastronomy is one of the World Heritage site of UNESCO. SaeManGeum is situated on one side with the forests of Byeonsan National Park, with stunning destinations for adventure and outdoor activities such as: mountains, climbing walls, lakes, waterfalls and of course traditional Buddhist temples. !these are spectacular!

How will Saemangeum will be best suitable WSJ site? The area dedicated to the Jamboree includes an area scientifically designed for extensive aerial activities, thousands of trees and bio-tunnels, recharging centers and free Wi-Fi everywhere. It will also feature a replica of Brownsea Island where scouts will be able to relax and enjoy a historical experience of the first Scout camp. What is interesting about this place is its vision for the future, a destination that takes advantage of the renewable energy of the sun, sea and wind, and the utilization of the latest technology such as virtual reality, Wi-Fi, apps and devices taking advantage of Korea’s cutting edge technology
