A Note From Owen E Q U I P M E N T

April 29, 2016

To Our Valued Friends & Customers... Spring has sprung. Cows are calving. The strip till rigs are running. And the battle to get the corn crop planted has begun! I hope you have been one of the lucky ones to get some beneficial precipitation over the last few weeks to get this crop off on the right foot. This edition of our Flyer reaffirms our commitment to customer support, especially during this most hectic time of the year. We have selected the idiom “In the Trenches With You” to represent this commitment... just like the soldiers in the trenches during WWl who got most of the action on the battlefield, our team is prepared to do whatever it takes to keep you running this spring. Part of our commitment to providing you top-notch field support is demonstrated through our Integrated Solutions Department. Their charge is to provide you a fully integrated solution for your operation that takes into account the current equipment technologies that you already own, analyzing the agronomic data that you have accumulated and help you draw on the combined expertise of all of your trusted agronomy and crop input advisors that support your operation, with the mutual goal of this entire team “to grow more with less”. Our unsung heroes of the spring planting battle are certainly our Parts Specialists. These men and women collectively manage 600,000 (yes, that’s not a typo–600,000) unique part numbers across our entire organization. They use their experience and insight, along with the tools within our parts business system, to make every effort to have quality John Deere parts on hand when you need them during this extremely busy time of year. Over the last year, we have broadened our inventory by over a million dollars across the Company, in an effort to improve overall parts availability. The ongoing goal for every member of our Parts Departments is to send you out the door with all the parts you came in for.

Acreage Owner Thrilled With John Deere 3033R Utility Tractor

Dan Carver owns a small acreage south of Sterling, Colorado. For years, he did much of the work around the farm “the old-fashioned way”. Then he purchased a John Deere 3033R compact utility tractor with a loader and finish mower from 21st Century Equipment. And things changed— big-time. “This tractor has amazing power for its size; I pushed a lot of snow with it this winter,” Dan said. “And it didn’t matter how cold it got; that John Deere tractor started up every time.” Dan considered a tractor purchase for more than a year and looked at several brands in the process. When he chose the Deere, he realized Dan Carver and his he had made the right decision. 3033R Utility Tractor “I was tickled to death with the price and the service,” Dan said. “I was in the middle of harvesting when the equipment came into the dealership so I was very busy. The staff was very accommodating and stayed after hours so I could come in to do the paperwork. “The tractor was all set up and ready to go with the implements attached. Overall, it was a great buying experience.” Dan is considering starting a small Christmas tree farm on his property—and the John Deere 3033R will play an even larger role. “I already have my eye on a tiller, grapple heads and other implements,” he said. “This is a great tractor and I’m very pleased with both the equipment and the service from 21st Century Equipment.”

On the Sales side of our business, the market indicators that we track, suggest to us that the used equipment inventory glut, that has plagued the equipment industry for the last couple of years, is slowly coming back into line. This means that used equipment prices have bottomed and we are even seeing some signs of strength in certain models and categories. My point in telling you this is that if you have been waiting for used equipment prices to reach rock bottom, before making that purchase decision, your time has come. You can get auction-like prices at 21st Century Equipment today, without the risk of buying in an “as is-where is” auction environment and with the full range of financing options and the service support you expect from a full range dealership. In closing, I want to thank you for your business as we all work together to navigate “through the trenches” and get this crop in the ground. I believe our partnership, built on trust, technology and innovation, will position us well for whatever challenges we encounter ahead. Sincerely,

Owen Palm President/CEO

The phrase “in the trenches” traces back to World War I, when much of the battle was waged in open fields. Trenches were where the battle was truly won or lost. Where the overall strategy played out in real-life scenarios that determined the ultimate outcome. Sounds a bit like farming… As the new season gears up, you’re headed into the trenches to begin the next “campaign”. You’re up against weather, commodity markets, global demand, and tight margins. You need a great strategy, the right equipment and technology—and strong allies—in order to position yourself for success. At 21st Century Equipment, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you in the trenches—providing you with a comprehensive arsenal of tools, services, expertise, and resources that can help you be more prepared and confident as you begin a new crop year. With 21st Century Equipment as your ally, you have a distinct advantage in areas that truly matter: • Immediate on-call advice from our Customer Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) to answer the most common questions about equipment set-up, technical issues, etc.;

Now imagine a mobile emergency parts inventory van that travels North as the harvest progresses. A van that allows you access to over 150 hard-to-find parts when you need them the most. The 21st Century Harvest Support Van is stocked with augers, radiators, gearboxes, and a whole lot more. The most important “pre-plant” of all…

Everyone is familiar with the term “pre-plant.” But in this case, I’m not talking about soil preparation or fertility. I’m referring instead to the essential preparation work on equipment and technology that every farmer needs to do before pulling into the field with the planter. At this time of year, every farmer is itching to start planting. But all that enthusiasm and energy can be quickly drained if you end up experiencing problems with equipment or technology—or discover too late that your data has not been prepared properly. That’s why it’s important to meet with your 21st Century Equipment ISG Consultant and your 21st Century Equipment sales representative well ahead of planting to ensure that you are all set when the time comes. We’ll get your Row CommandTM and Section ControlTM set properly, check to make sure your starter or two-by-two fertilizer pumps are in working order, assist you with critical planter settings, and make sure all your technology, data and equipment are ready to begin the season. Getting ready to plant is almost as important as planting itself. Having the confidence that you’ve prepared well in advance allows you to fully enjoy the great feeling of starting another growing season as you pull that planter into the field for the first time this spring. After planting, your ISG Consultant will work with you to validate and verify that we did what we set out to do. It’s important to monitor our performance and progress at key milestones throughout the year to validate your prescriptions, planning and profit objectives. John Deere Field ConnectTM soil moisture probes may be the next step—going in around the time corn reaches the V2 stage for accurate placement and to monitor early season soil moisture conditions. This technology will help you manage precious water and energy costs in a challenging commodity market in which every dollar counts. In today’s market, you need to extract every bit of value from every acre. You simply cannot afford to work on averages. That means you need to manage each acre individually. Soil type, soil texture, fertility, soil moisture, elevation, yield history—it all matters. And your 21st Century Equipment ISG Consultant is here to help you identify and capture value on every acre from planting to harvest. Here’s wishing you a trouble-free planting time—and a great season.

IT’S INNOVATION. NOT IMITATION.

Why leasing might make sense for your operation— and your cash flow.

Many customers are looking at ways to incorporate the benefits of new equipment and technology into their operations, but the cost of buying new equipment—especially in today’s environment of tight margins and lines of credit—can lead one to seek alternatives. Leasing or renting equipment are viable options. The tax implications of leasing or renting are the same. There is no liability on your balance sheet—and both options provide cash flow flexibility. However, leasing provides some significant benefits that are worth considering, especially in today’s challenging environment. Leasing provides you with a locked-in payment for multiple years, unlike rental rates which can change frequently. With a lease, you know what your costs are and you can manage your operation accordingly. When you lease equipment from 21st Century Equipment, you have that equipment available to you when you need it—all year long, not just for a specific rental period. With leasing, you’re not tied to a volatile and unpredictable used equipment market. When your lease is up, you have the option of turning in the equipment and leasing something else—or purchasing the equipment you’ve been leasing. There’s no risk of finding yourself upside down in terms of the residual value of your equipment. Here’s another caveat: When you’re renting equipment, the dealership may also continue to offer that equipment for sale. If this is a piece of equipment you depend on, leasing prevents the possibility that the dealership will come to retrieve that equipment for a buying customer. At 21st Century Equipment, we can arrange an affordable leasing program on virtually any type of equipment—from a compact utility tractor or John Deere Gator up to a 600 horsepower John Deere tractor; from tillage equipment to a planter; from a grain cart to a combine. A typical lease is two to five years in length. In most cases, you’re leasing equipment that is new—or used equipment that has been reconditioned. Contact us to discover more about our affordable leasing programs that help you enjoy the benefits of today’s technology and engineering while improving your cash flow and flexibility over the long term. Meet the New John Deere 9RX Series Tractor

Meet the new John Deere 9RX Series Tractor The New 9RX is no copycat. To begin with, the unique upswept axle component allows the 9RX to have a larger drive wheel, putting more power to the ground and increasing reliability. A horsepower range of 470 to 620 and increased hydraulic flow means the 9RX is ready to cover large acres and pull big implements. Nothing Runs Like a Deere™.

While demoing a 9620RX, Sheila Sprague, of Sprague Farms, found that when pulling her desired tillage equipment she could travel at up to 8 mph versus 5-5.5 mph using a 9430T! Now that makes a difference!

Your local 21st Century Equipment sales staff can tell you more about the most complete line up of high-horsepower machines on the market. Stop in and see us today.

When you need some help setting up your equipment, who you gonna call? CTAC!

It’s been a year since you set up your planter or had to set your A-B guidance lines. So now you’re ready to hit the field, but you realize you need a refresh on how to do what needs to be done. That’s when you call the 21st Century Equipment Customer Technical Assistance Center (CTAC) at 844.421.CTAC (2822). CTAC staff is available from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We also offer extended hours during key times of the year such as planting and harvest. In many cases, the CTAC staff can resolve a general equipment set-up or technical issue more quickly than your local dealership because we are literally waiting by the phone to help you. We have the knowledge and resources to troubleshoot common problems. Over time, we’ve compiled a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) in our database, so we can quickly call up these FAQs and get you the answers you need right now. When you call CTAC, you may not always be speaking to someone at your local dealership, but you will be talking with a 21st Century Equipment employee who knows farming in our region—and knows how to handle most questions related to John Deere equipment. Our CTAC team can help you with a number of topics including: • General John Deere vehicle/implement settings • MyJohnDeere.com account support • Basic John Deere guidance support • Assistance with JD link vehicle diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) • Basic AMS/ISG product support • Greenstar activations and renewals • John Deere planter support, including set-up • And more! Work around the yard happens right along with field work and planting. 21st Century Equipment has the solutions, equipment and support you need to make tending to your landscapes as easy and efficient as possible. You did your job preparing your mowers and small power equipment for winter storage. Now it’s time to blow off the cobwebs and get that equipment ready to work. See your local 21st Century Equipment dealer (there are 17 of them across the region) for assistance with service and parts as you gear up for the new season. Pick up some Fuel Protect to add to the fuel in your small engines; it helps engines perform at their peak and makes starting a cold engine much easier. We can sharpen your blades, provide fresh batteries and give your equipment a once-over to ensure trouble-free performance as you get down in the trenches with your yard work. John Deere quality mowers include the exciting new X300 Select Series as well as a new line of Z-Trak mowers. Both can help you get your mowing jobs done quickly and efficiently. (We are also offering great rebates on carryover 2015 models!) John Deere’s line of small utility tractors—complete with a full line of implements—can make those larger around-theyard jobs go more quickly and comfortably. Tilt steering, comfortable cabs and other ergonomic innovations can make any chore seem just a little less tedious. And with a best-in-class 6-year powertrain warranty, John Deere utility tractors give you confidence that you’ve made the right choice. When it’s time to carry drip oil to the pivot or take lunch out to folks in the field, a John Deere Gator fits the bill perfectly. We carry the full line of Gators for every application. Regardless of whether you’re mowing the lawn, grading the driveway or checking pivots, 21st Century Equipment has the John Deere equipment you need to get your aroundthe-farmyard jobs done quickly and… find a little time to relax. And that’s worth a lot, isn’t it? Cathy Segelke

21st Century Equipment – The Key To Making Your Property Look Great!

Leasing Your Strategic Partner

One of my most vivid memories of a “ride along” took place late one evening in 1985. The sun was just about to disappear under the horizon—and I was helping my grandfather apply anhydrous. “Just one more pass,” he said. Then it happened. Grandpa was suddenly wrapping my head with a shirt and handing me off to the farmhand to make a run for the house. A hose on the anhydrous tank had burst and the liquid was quickly turning to deadly gas. Grandpa, face covered, ran to shut off the valve and save us all from harm. To me, he was Superman—running into the face of danger and bravely resolving another threatening situation. Everything ended up fine. But 30 years later, I still vividly remember that night, as well as many others on that farm. Those passes on the tractor. Driving three-wheelers to set tubes with the cousins. Branding cattle with close friends. And the many near misses and unique scenes that anyone who grew up on a farm remember and hold close. Many of us who have chosen a career in agriculture typically made that decision at a young age. And though we love farming, we may not have had the opportunity or option to become a farmer. But the passion for agriculture is there—and that leads us to careers that keep us part of farming. That’s what I see with everyone I work with at 21st Century Equipment. Regardless of their jobs, they have each chosen this industry because this is where they want to be. Close to farming—and close to farmers. And they have chosen 21st Century Equipment because it’s a company that takes great pride in working with the best farmers in the world—and becoming a strategic partner in their success. Now, back to the “ride along.” Your equipment specialist, your ISG consultant, your service tech and even your leasing agent would love the opportunity to ride along with you in the field. To learn more about your operation, your strategy, your vision for your farm and your future. We have an amazing team approach focused on helping you solve problems, leverage new opportunities and position yourself for even greater success. The more we learn from you, the more we can add value to your operation. Call your 21st Century Equipment representative and extend an invitation for a ride along. You’ll quickly discover that when it comes to being your strategic partner, we’re not just along for the ride.

Water & Harvest Used Pivots For Sale!

E Q U I P M E N T

Is it time to get out of the trenches?

Irrigating “in the trenches” with furrow irrigation actually requires you to do things that reduce water efficiency. You’re tilling the soil and reducing residue, both of which accelerate soil moisture loss. And when your top layer of soil is saturated through irrigation, you lose the residual benefits of any rain that does come due to runoff. Switching from furrow irrigation to pivot or subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) saves labor, water and energy costs. You can save anywhere from one to three trips across the field—and you improve water efficiency. In other words, these irrigation systems allow you to farm differently. Telemetry is becoming standard equipment on most pivot systems. This technology allows you to monitor your pivots remotely. Instead of driving out to check each and every pivot once or twice a day, you are automatically alerted on your mobile device when one of them is not operating properly. Customers who used to have difficulty managing ten to fifteen pivots are now able to monitor two to three times that number, thanks to telemetry. Many customers have made the leap from furrow irrigation right into subsurface drip irrigation. SDI is perfect for fields that are odd-shaped, have significant elevation challenges, or are otherwise unsuitable for a pivot system. With SDI, you don’t have to give up on the eight acres of cropland in each pivot corner; you can irrigate the entire field. SDI puts water two to three inches under the soil surface, right where the roots need it. SDI virtually eliminates erosion, runoff and evaporation. Additionally, when you do get rain, that top two to three inches of soil is ready to absorb and store that precious moisture instead of it running off. Many of you have a back-up tractor you can rely on if your primary equipment breaks down. But that’s not the case with your irrigation system. That’s why 21st Century Water has a fleet of service trucks ready to respond when you need to get your system back up and running. We’re on call during irrigation season, because we know the critical importance of providing your crop with the right amount of water at the right time. When you’re ready to get out of the trenches and leave intensive furrow irrigation behind, call 21st Century Water. We have the technology, irrigation systems, expertise and service to help you improve your efficiency in a number of important ways.

John Deere 1775NT MaxEmerge 24Row30 Planter TM

The MaxEmerge™ 5 row-unit takes the best qualities of all MaxEmerge XP and Pro-Series XP™ and combines them into one more efficient row-unit. The ExactEmerge row-unit breaks the link between planting precision and planting speed that exists with all other planter products on the market today. When optimizing planter performance, the SeedStar™ XP monitoring system for MaxEmerge 5 is available as optional equipment. When the ExactEmerge option is chosen on the 1775NT, it now comes with Seedstar 3 HP monitoring system that provides more functionality, control, and data all while improving ease of use. With the updated meter designs, producers can now plant on larger slopes with MaxEmerge 5 capable of handling 14-degree slopes and ExactEmerge still getting excellent singulation in slopes up to 15 degrees. The narrow transport (NT) design of the 1775NT Planter provides a safe transport width of 3.7 m (12 ft).

1725 Central Commodity System (CCS™) Planter The 1725 CCS Stack-Fold Planter combines the productivity of the CCS and the performance of MaxEmerge™ 5 with the unmatched maneuverability of an integral planter. It is available in a 16-row configuration with 76.2-cm (30-in.) row spacing, two 50 bushel CCS tanks and MaxEmerge 5 mini-hopper row-units. The stack-fold feature provides the convenience of in-cab fold with no need to empty hoppers for transport. The 1725 frame is a three-section design and can flex for rolling ground and terraces or can be locked rigid for planting on beds or flat ground. The 1725 CCS Planters work well in conventional or reduced tillage field conditions and are ideal for planting into strip-till conditions. SeedStar™ 2 monitoring and variable rate hydraulic drive are base equipment on the 1725 CCS planter. RowCommand™ system is available as an option, but mechanical row markers are not available on this model. 26862 Hwy 34, Akron, CO (970) 345-2276 • (888) 532-5766 177777 Hwy 385, Burlington, CO (719) 346-8213 • (866) 871-6463 44578 Hwy 40, Cheyenne Wells, CO (719) 767-5605 • (800) 275-4396 4707 County Road V, Flagler, CO (719) 765-4428 • (800) 764-4428
