September 3 To Our Valued Friends & Customers... Trade tensions and tariff wars….New worries for American agriculture. There is little doubt that the US has been taken advantage of by our trading partners around the world for many years, and most especially, by the Republic of China. It is very unfortunate however, that American agriculture is shouldering more than its fair share of the burden, especially our soybean, beef and pork producers. Hopefully, trade talks between China and the US are fruitful, trade resumes and the grains resume the solid upward trend that was in place prior to the announcement of trade tariffs in early June. One would hope this all could happen by the time harvest wraps-up later this fall, but who knows. Tariffs, on the other hand, have an even more direct impact on agriculture as they have especially impacted steel and aluminum prices... both major components in the manufacture of most farm implements. With a very few exceptions, tariffs Owen have already impacted pricing on the products we sell... both Deere and non-Deere equipment, where we have seen surcharges and direct price increases in the 5-10% range that are directly attributed to rising raw material cost increases. Add to the trade and tariff issues and their negative impact on commodity prices; rising interest rates; a shortage of both skilled and non-skilled labor; rising crude oil prices; and major freight and logistics issues caused by a severe driver shortage... Hold it. Time for a time-out! It is easy to get caught-up in everything that we can’t control. Let’s focus on managing what we can control - Yield, Uptime and Productivity - the things that drive your cost of

production. Harvest season is here. This is when all the hard work and investment you have been making all year comes together. Harvest is when you find out what worked well….And, what did not work so well! As I have said many times before, “Data” is the key to farming differently and harvest yield data is a key piece of information that can be used to “farm differently, next year. I don’t mean farming differently in a negative sense... what I mean by farming differently is taking all the data that you have collected during the growing season and using it to make decisions that allow you to farm differently next season with the goal to increase yields and/ or reduce costs. These are decisions that are within your control and can positively impact your bottom line. I am excited to announce the fall harvest season is swiftly arriving. Shorter days and longer nights are creeping in. Time to ride in the combine and watch the yield monitor climb and climb, we hope! Our anticipation is that all of your planning, early mornings, and hard work provides a return on your investments. With the longer nights, what opportunities are presented to you? Popcorn and a movie with the family or a friend I would offer, but how about in terms of data? Data is collected on a large scale in almost all industries today. When you are looking to purchase a new hunting rifle, what things help you with your decision – caliber, velocity, Aaron Ogden grain of bullet? All of those things are tested, collected, and Integrated Solutions stored for each rifle. How about in the cattle industry – EPD’s, Consultant rate of gain, and carcass information – tested, collected, and Alliance, NE stored. I’m sure you can see where I’m heading with this one. What things on the farm can you test, collect, and store? Have you prepared for harvest by getting all of your setup data delivered to the combine before you need it? Picking seed varieties can sometimes also be a bear to handle, but you have the power to test varieties on your own farm. Your variety information can be collected, sent to the cloud, and stored – from the planter and combine – using Wireless Data Transfer (WDT). In the background, your data is translated into a viewable form in the John Deere Operations Center. These capabilities are powerful and critical to easily gain insight from analyzing details and issues from your farming operations. What does all this testing and data collection really mean to you? IT MEANS OPPORTUNITY...you have the opportunity to make a change and become better. With your variety locator file loaded in the combine display and visible in the John Deere Connect Mobile App, you have the opportunity to accurately assess varieties in real-time to plan for next years’ purchasing decisions. This harvest opportunity only comes around once a year and that’s why we are excited to help you collect high-quality data and make decisions based on that information. You all have variable performance areas in each field which is called spatial variability and translates to profitable and non-profitable regions. The challenge is managing the size of these areas and determining the primary factor(s) causing the performance variation. Spatial variability creates an opportunity to precisely prescribe an input Rx for the next years’ crop to address those factors. More often than not – it is necessary to collect additional GIS layers like elevation, soil EC, aerial NDVI or NIR layers in addition to soil and/or tissue sampling in order to make an educated and quality Rx to allocate inputs. We want to help you with managing variability through solid agronomic decision support based on accurate data to put more grain in the tank, but more importantly – to put more money in the bank. Challenges present opportunity in many different forms. The opportunity to leverage the John Deere Operations Center with the naturally occurring longer nights is here. I challenge you to get your phone, iPad, or computer out before or after the popcorneating movie night and analyze a data set you have collected. You never know what you might discover. South Central District Manager Corporate

Tyler Burkholder has accepted the position of District Manager for our South Central District and will be working with our locations in Ogallala, Imperial, Yuma, Wray and Holyoke. During the interim he will also serve as the Location Manager for Ogallala. Tyler began his career with the company in 2000 joining the Ogallala Parts Department and has held several positions since that time including Location Manager in Sidney and most recently serving as the Vice-President of Sales based in Scottsbluff. Tyler, his wife Bobbi and their two sons will be relocating to the Julesburg, CO area.

Rob Bare has been promoted to Parts Manager. Rob has been the CSR in the Fort Morgan location for the past couple of months. Prior to his time with us, Rob was the Parts Manager for Wickham Tractor in both their Sterling and Fort Morgan locations for six years. Prior to moving to Colorado, Rob was a parts manager for several dealerships in Missouri and surrounding states.

Casey Seymour will be transitioning from our Remarketing Manager to assuming the Vice-President of Sales position in place of Burkholder. Casey previously worked for Prairieland Partners in Wichita, KS as the Remarketing Manager. Seymour resides in Scottsbluff with his wife Jackie and children Ben, Lilliy, and Will.

Jerrold (Jerry) Olson has accepted the Location Manager position at our Ft Morgan, CO location. Jerry comes to us from just outside of Rochester, MN. Jerry has spent the past 18 years managing various Case IH/Kubota Ag Equipment dealerships in the Minnesota/Wisconsin areas. Most recently Jerry has been managing a dealership for St. Joseph Equipment in Eyota, MN.

Vern Mastin has accepted the Service Manager position at our Ft Morgan, CO location. Vern was a long time Kay-Jan and 21st Century employee until 2013. Since that time Vern has been the Location Manager for CHS, an Ag. Service Provider, at their Wiggins location. In Vern’s career at Kay Jan he was a Technician/shop foreman for 11 years, was in parts for a year, a CSR position for two years, and a sales professional for 10 years.

Joel Ahrens has accepted the position of Location Manager in Sidney. Joel has been a Sales Professional and most recently been serving as our sales contact with dealer to dealer network and handling sales outside our trade area. Joel and his wife Heidi and their family will continue to reside in Sidney, NE.

Andrew Lyng has accepted the Service Manager position at our Sterling, CO location. Andrew has been in the industry for 7 years with experience in parts and service. He was previously the Service manager in Akron, CO and Yuma, CO for a combined 3 years. Before returning to the company he was working as a service manager for Washington Tractor in Quincy, WA.

Before joining the company 9 years ago Rod was a Salesman and Location Manager for a Case dealership in Illinois. Rod has 36 years’ experience in the ag equipment industry. He will be relocated to Yuma, CO.

Zach Patterson ahs been promoted from Parts Specialist to Parts Manager in Imperial. He has been with the company for 4 years and is originally from Pinedale, WY. Zach attended Chadron State College and played football. Prior to joining our team he served as a ski instructor for 6 years. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Joe Coleman Location Manager Wray, CO Location

Joe Coleman has been promoted to Location Manager in Wray. He grew up in Burlington and after high school attended Colorado Aero Tech and received his A&P license to work on aircraft. He worked for Northrup building the B2 bomber in Palmdale, CA for a few years before coming back to Colorado. He joined the company in June of 2017 as a Sales Professional in Yuma and the was transferred to Wray in sales and as Store Lead. Previously he spent 22 years working as a field service technician for Wagner Equipment. Joe, his wife Sheila, and youngest son will continue to reside in Yuma.

Alliance Salesman Bob Smith received an award from the Grant County 4-H Imperial employees participated in the Chamber program for our support of Commerce’s community wide highway during the fair banquet in cleanup program on the “miracle mile.” Hyannis. Haarberg Farms of Imperial, NE drew a “golden cup” from their Talc USA container. They were awarded a $500 credit at 21st Century Equipment and Talc USA also donated $2000 to the Imperial FFA Chapter. Presenting the award to FFA members Carrissa Hill and Valerie Herbert are Zach Patterson and Jason Banks with our Parts Department and Talc USA 22 Representative Cory Hill.

We are proud to support the area 4-H youth, 4-H programs and local county fairs. We provided donations to all 44 county 4-H Councils and equipment for various fair activities during the summer.

Trevor Rasmussen returned to our Alliance location as a Parts Specialist. He is from Hemingford and attended college at Western Nebraska Community College. He has work experience with Parker Haniffen, Army National Guard, and the Sheriff’s office. Trevor enjoys spending time with his family, camping, and fishing.

Justin Hirsch has joined the Bridgeport team as a Detail Specialist. He is originally from Scottsbluff and has experience working on center pivots and as a garage mechanic. He enjoys hunting and doing anything outdoors.

Raymond Phipps joins the Burlington team as a Parts Assistant. He grew up on a ranch in Bethune CO and graduated high school. He enjoys helping out the local ranchers with all ranch type chores. He is a volunteer with the Kit Carson 4H Shooting Sports Team.

Anthony Hopkins has recently joined the Service team at our Sidney, NE location as a Service Assistant. Anthony will be expecting his first child in October. He plans to attend the John Deere Ag Tech Program in the winter.
