The big news around here is that we recently completed a major reorganization of the management structure across the company. The sole purpose of this reorganization is to provide a higher level of focus and support for your operation. Historically, our location managers were promoted into that job because of their success in either the parts department, the service department or in sales. Because of this, their expertise and interest really revolved around the department they grew up in, sometimes to the detriment of the other two departments that often got neglected.

The first step in the reorganization process was to combine two or three locations into a “territory.” Each territory’s formation was based on locations serving similar markets, such as Yuma and Wray or Scottsbluff, Torrington and Bridgeport.
The final step in the reorganization process was to appoint a store lead, who will continue to perform their job as parts manager, service manager or salesman, but in addition, be the local management face for 21st Century Equipment when it comes to local donations, facility maintenance, community events and customer concerns. I assure you we want to maintain strong, local decision-making authority. Maintaining local control was one of our “absolutes” when we redesigned the organization structure. As you can see, there are a lot of moving parts to this reorganization. We then looked at the strengths of the existing location managers and focused their management energies on the department at each location within a territory, on the discipline they were most comfortable with. The best example I can give you is in the Ogallala/Holyoke/Imperial territory, where we have Doug Luedke. With 30+ years of service department experience, he is now totally focused on those three service departments. Similarly, we have Larry Talbot and his 30+ years of parts department experience now totally focused on those three parts departments…and so on. These new territory managers then report to one of two region managers.
It’s hard to believe fall harvest is right around the corner and those hot days of summer are behind us. I hope the 2022 growing season has been a good one for you.

We believe the creation of these territories allows for much easier sharing of the equipment resources and personnel expertise within a territory. For example, if the Holyoke service department is slow and Ogallala’s service department is jammed up, Doug can move resources around to improve the customer experience. Similarly, if there are some successful processes in place at the Ogallala parts department, Larry can make sure the same processes are implemented at his other two parts departments in Imperial and Holyoke. Overall, we believe this reorganization will allow us to up our game in all three departments as we take advantage of the years of expertise many of our managers possess.

The John Deere Company has an alliance partnership with various colleges for the John Deere Ag Tech Program. The program allows students to graduate with an Associate of Applied Science degree while also completing a cooperative work experience at one of our dealership locations. Students gain hands-on experience to learn diagnostic and repair procedures using the latest high-tech electronics and software programs. Gain skills in a high-demand field, and benefit from continued advanced training. 21st Century Equipment is offering tuition reimbursement and a full toolbox to qualified individuals who attend the John Deere Ag Tech college program or select other college diesel tech programs.
