《Under Town》- February 2020 In the year 2080 A.D., Guang strives to find a way back to live at ground level again. In the setting of this arena stage, the auditorium is decorated as rock face of the underground, enabling audiences to overlook the Under Town. Upright light tubes, with its up-down dimension, are hung to enhance a sense of directionality, symbolizing the Under Town yearns to look up.

This play is about the idols and fans. In our time, we can use social media and become internet celebrity. The play want to explore in the internet and real world how do these people face the world and themselve. For this play, I think mirror is good to fit the concept. I keep the mirror in original architecture in the design. The projection will be projected at the white wall on the other side, with some actors performing alongside. The audience can see the projection and the actors through the mirror.

I keep the windows and door in original architecture in the design, which was built in Japanese colonial period. （The Japanese colonial period in Taiwan is between 1895 and 1945). This play is the Chinese version of Koki Mitani’s two-person play 《University of Laughs》 (Warai no Daigakuthat).Set in 1970~1980 (the martial law period) in Taiwan, any document and behavior needed to be examined, including play scripts.
