CHAOS AND ORDER IN LANGUAGE
Every language has grammar and laws. This work try to find the physical change of architecture language. Rotate, Split, Boolean, seems full of chaos and random, but can still use some methods to create a peaceful order. Summer program in UC Berkeley Individual work 2017

Using simple geometry, Cylinder, Box and Triangle to boolean, intersection, combination, thereof, material shift, projection, thickness, in order to maintain the richness of prior of ambiguities. Use chipboard to build it out.

FAKE ARCH
Real arch need vertical force to balance, remove this force, the arch become a shell. Like the eggshell, the outside shell resist pressure and the inside membrane resist pressure, even when the eggshell slightly broken, the ‘arch‘ still stand. Although its not as beautiful as real arch in stress, but it can form something that is full of misunderstanding and order. A design from material and static Individual work 2017

Plaster Carbon Paper
Spoon the plaster Plaster good at resist pressure, but it’s super crisp. Carbon paper can form shape when put tensile force. Put a piece of carbon paper on to curve-model, wet it out. Spoon the plaster on to it, about 1-2 mm thick. After plaster becomes stiff and the carbon paper dry, it shrink and form a pre-stressing force to the plaster.

Follow this principle, using stub and rope to add or detach its degree of freedom.
For its fake arch, only two supporting points of the final model are fixed pin point, other connections are hung into the space, which crate misunderstanding to the arch-like curve.

FRAMING CHURCH
Frame structure is the most popular structural form for its efficiency. Even in the most common church, I can still feel the equivalent beam and pillar in these two-dimension arch. Not like the common frame we use today, the equivalent beam is not parallel to the the way we use it, but form a 45 degree angle. Reread the frame in a 45 degree view. From another perspective view, it does looks like a church with the old arch. But it is still a frame structure, with the most of the structural character that a frame structure have.

RESEARCH WORK
A survey we did when I was having an education support program in Eryuan Yunnan. A remote village, the house building process stay in a workshop way. Most of the newly-built building still use stakes and loam wall, using very tradition material. But having a warm house is the most important thing in the villagers’ life. We stayed in the village for half month, teaching in primary school, we know every children in the village, and become good friends. Research in folk house in Yunnan Provence
