ARTIST CHLOE MOSBACHER

Chloe Mosbacher depicts herself and her loved ones in surreal settings shaped and distorted by different mental and emotional states. The paintings function as a set of collages and transparent images overlaid on top of one-another, evoking a sense of multiplicity - which to her, portrays the idea that several events, or realities are unfolding at once. With this technique, Mosbacher blurs the lines between figure and ground within the picture plane to express how our internal and external landscapes are wholly interconnected. The figures within each painting are used as guises representing various emotional states felt in moments of privacy or alternatively representing different stages within one’s life, such as states of existential questioning or searching for meaning. Mosbacher is a multimedia artist and painter based in New York’s Hudson Valley. She is currently pursuing her BFA in painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Mosbacher has had solo exhibitions at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum in Woodstock, New York and at the Beacon Artists Union Gallery in Beacon, New York. She also has an upcoming solo exhibition at Studio 89, in Highland, NY. In addition, she has participated in group shows at Collar Works in Troy, NY, the Trolley Barn in Poughkeepsie, NY, Womenswork.art in Poughkeepsie, as well as at the Maryland Institute College of Art and the New York Academy of Art. She has been a featured artist on the Visionary Art Collective website and in the Organic Hudson Valley Magazine and has had work published in Al Jazeera.
