The proportion of houses and population
The status quo Ji’nan is an ancient city with a history of more than 2,000 years, the reputation of being know as the city of springs. But with the development of economy and the increasing of population, the population in Ji’nan has been saturated. Due to the limited urban land, the houses have covered the city fully. Therefore, the house problem becomes a though challenge; people have to dwell in the center of the city in such a small place. More important question is that there is still not enough room for people to live in.
Base analysis
Site
The chosen base is located in the residential area surrounding CBD in this city. They are old house here in Ji’nan, but this is the place, which has the densest population of Ji’nan. For different purpose, people choose to dwell in this area because of the school district room, work and seniors. People have to live here for their own purposes, but there are increasing people who has no position to live in. But now there are amount of floor joints where we can make a full use, additionally use the existing land to strive for more space, and create a new concept for monotony of old houses and residential living.

Concept Putting the main body of the scheme selection in the gaps between the buildings can combine pieces of available space in the city, which can maximize the use of spare room to meet the living needs of residents as far as possible.

1. Strewn at random in the platform provides a free space for the leisure. Household can forge and decorate their exclusive space; it can be a small garden r designed into recreational sun-room. The green ornament and free-style decoration will release tension. 2. This design pattern, through constant superposition can widen or pile up. This solution on different base can indicate its practicality and flexibility, maximizing the interests of the residents’ life. 3. Through random arrangement of strewn, it adds newly interesting point to old community, breaking up the model of the flat square to make it irradiate new vigor and vitality.
Each unit is one, each house is divided into two layers, the first layer includes the porch and kitchen, the second floor has two bedrooms, living room and bathroom. The size of each room is 3X3 meters. Each unit would meet living needs of a family with three people, besides, this kind of size would creative a warm feeling.

While setting up a small space between buildings, the building is still to be given sufficient and abundant space. In this design, I will open every unit separated to shape a rich space for communication and activities of each household unit, separated as the vertical courtyard space, which can be used as a garden or residents can take advantage of the space to dry clothes.

At the time that modern industrial civilization has brought unprecedented progress and development, it also produces enormous negative effects. Presently, behind the prosperous was of great industrial era, it left a scene of devastation everywhere. Scrap factory still stand on the boundary of skyscrapers woefully, alone ancient architecture seemed to talk about the flourishing past. What can we engage to do in front of these old and out-ofdate historical relics? Whether eliminate and remove sightlessly or protect and use reasonably.

The design for lighting not only retains the original building, but also sets the housetop scuttle in order to meet the needs of lighting, providing a bright environment.
In structural aspect, the basic structure of the original framework will be left. In addition, I will add a set of diffuse reflection glass roof, which will not cause excessive light at the time keeping enough daylight.
Adding a glass onto building facades is to echo other aspects of reformation firstly, and to increase interestingness in building stuff. At the same time, it also provides the strong comparison of new and old buildings.

Corridor, as the soul of the design scheme, connects each functional partition. Noninterference functional partition design is very clear, but for the sake of convenient use., The adding of the corridor represents integration and separation.

First of all, for pedestrian safety, there will be a hierarchical design for its function, setting different functional space; the primary functional of first layer is just to provide the fresh environment.
Commercial Street is located in the centre of universities. The distance between most universities and malls take people more than then minutes on foot; that is why plenty of college students choose to take buses and illegal cabs.
Commercial Street is located in the city of university in Changqing District. The distance from Ji’nan will take students 40 minutes by driving. It costs RMB 2~5 by bus, while the taxi expends RMB 35~60.
The second floor and above are used for commercial area. While the entertainment function will be blended into the whole building. Each functional section will be bridged by the corridor orderly.

This square for roller skating is to enrich college students’ leisure life. Roller skating is most college students’ hobby, satisfying students’ afterschool life. However, because of the conflict between these skaters and pedestrians, the square for roller skating will be separated in this design, not only convenient for pedestrians to walk, but also a beautiful scenery line in the mall.

--City cinema design
Site The site is located on the east side of Zhanjiang city in Guangdong province, and close to the estuary. It belongs to the tropical and subtropical monsoon climate, which is regulated by the Marine climate all the time, so the climate here is winter without cold and summer without heat. Since the surface water resource is relatively short, saving energy means a lot here.

Design stratege 1. The scale of the site is very large. On its north is the sea, separated from the site by two roads; on its south side is the municipal court; and the west is a residential area. In order to control the size, the design cuts and tilts the building, uplifting to the north direction. 2. The cinema needs a good traffic streamline organization, thus there are four evacuation stairs in four different corners of the building and an atrium with staircases. 3. Planting on the slope roof on the top can effectively reduce the inner resource consumption and provide a relaxation place for around residents.

Eco- design

1. Under the sun, the temperature comes to as high as 20 degrees in the place without plants, while the place with the green can be greatly cold down to 24 degrees. 2. When roof is under sunshine, the vegetation has a strong regulation for indoor temperature, which can build a comfortable indoor environment.

3. Slope roof has certain influence on the sun radiation and on indoor ground reflection, so it can reach the effect of keeping the house warm in winter and cool in summer.

4. Collecting the rain from top to bottom of roof and transferring to the final water treatment equipment then, the pipe lying on the slope roof can save energy at last. 5. Plants on the roof are irrigated by rainwater, and the temperature and humidity are guaranteed at the same time. 6. The snow on the roof has a certain pressure, which will damage the roof after days’ accumulation. However, slope roof makes snow fall easily, thus it reduce the load on the roof.
