Papagayo is the place to be

There has been talk about building hotels, marinas, running paths, piers, you name it.. in this area for a long time. Well, it’s actually happening now!

The sleeping fishing villages have been waking up slowly like a Sunday morning for the past 15 years with new developments sporadically rising up here and there . But, it’s just been within the last two years that some of the biggest developments started coming our way!

Playas del Coco, Playa Hermosa and Playa Panama are the places TO BE! There has been talk about building hotels, marinas, running paths, piers, you name it . . in this area for a long time . Well, it’s actually happening now!

Big name brands have done their homework and have decided that these coastlines are the perfect spots to open their new destination hotels . This is unbelievable for locals because for the longest time, all of the BIG commotion regarding developments has been across the bay in Peninsula Papagayo . And now… it’s here in our backyard!

The renowned Waldorf Astoria by Hilton is the first of its kind to makes its way here! The hotel is fully under construction already . It is being built in Playa Penca, Punta Cacique . It is expected to open some time in 2025 . It’s incredible to know that it will offer 190 rooms and 25 residences based around sustainable luxury!

And then, there is Costa Rica’s only 7 star hotel: One & Only Papagayo! The Investments Corporations of Dubai (ICD) has confirmed that it will offer 167 rooms and 41 residences . Wow! This property will be the perfect example of extravagance in nature .

When there are new, grand developments, there will be more jobs, more tourism, more residents, more improved infrastructure, more demand for additional residences for the staff of the hotels…
