LETTER FROM THE OWNERS Pura Vida from the entire family here at 2 Costa Rica Real Estate! June is an amazing time of year here in Costa Rica and a month in which we celebrate the start of “summer” and the Solstice or our longest day of the year and Fathers Day. Summer, is a unique word for us here, as it now represents an increasingly popular time of year to visit Costa Rica. Once a sleepy few months after our peak tourism season in the North American winter, now the months of June, July and August have Costa Rica welcoming families, summer vacation travelers, church groups and people looking to discover this amazing country during our “rainy season” ironically, this is one of best times to visit and actually is not our hottest time like summer is in the U.S.A. May brings our first season rains and June is a month where we have an Indian summer where everything is lush and green from the May rains, temps are a bit cooler and the jungle is teeming with life. The real estate market here continues to be strong as more families and investors of all sorts discover an extended season of rental income with the growth of our summer travel season. Costa Rica, unlike the USA did not have huge spikes in values so while absorption has been historically high, CR still represents a great value when compared to other international tropical destinations. We project a strong summer of sales here and expect a record number of families coming to enjoy and experience la Pura Vida this year. June is also when we celebrate Father’s day here and internationally. As proud fathers and sons of an amazing father of our own, this is a month where we do a lot of reflection on the importance of family, legacy, memories, health and happiness. Perhaps there is no time of year where our roles as real estate advisors resonates with as much importance as so many of our clients are investing in Costa Rica to have a place from which they can create their own legacies and memories with their families. At a time in the world where our schedules, connectivity, political and social divisions distract us all from the most important things in life, Costa Rica, its magical beauty and properties, can and are becoming a physical, mental and spiritual escape back to the core values which effectively are at the center of us all. One of the most iconic species of Isla del Coco is now safeguarded by a new international joint effort. In the last year, Costa Rica’s government has doubled-down on its commitment towards safekeeping the country’s national treasures. After all, much of its booming tourist economy is inherently linked with the enthralling beauty of this tropical paradise. As it was reported earlier this year, a focused effort has been made with regards to conservation of the Tico oceans, and recently one of the most important breaking news has come from this front: A shark natural sanctuary.
Costa Rica’s executive powers worked in unison with representatives from the United States to officially announce joint actions to assure the protection of marine environments surrounding the iconic Isla del Coco. As part of these efforts, special focus was given to the conservation of the hammerhead shark population of Isla del Coco by way of a connection with the Golfo Dulce Hammerhead Shark Sanctuary. In recent years, drug trafficking and illegal fishing have affected this shark species, so some of the Pacific’s most important marine national parks have come together to combat this concerning situation.
