How To Tell If You Have A Dead Tooth And Why It’s Important We have all seen a dark tooth, but is every dark tooth dead? There are many reasons for a tooth to turn dark but the most common is from a trauma. If a trauma occurs elsewhere in the body the area will often have a bruise the next day. The bruise is caused by the rupturing of red blood cells which shows through the skin. If the trauma occurs to a tooth the red blood cells inside the tooth rupture and the discoloration takes a lot longer to show up, since the tooth is so dense. Furthermore, once the discoloration occurs inside the tooth it doesn’t go away unlike a bruise to the skin. Often this type of trauma to a tooth will be enough to permanently damage the nerve and leave it “dead.” There are other things that can also kill the nerve of a tooth such as decay, excessive clenching, and gum disease. A simple way to tell if the nerve of the tooth is dead is to apply a small piece of ice or something similar to only the tooth that may be dead and then doing that same test to a different tooth in your mouth. A normal tooth will feel the cold sensation and it will go away when the cold is removed. A dead tooth won’t even feel the cold. (A dental x-ray can then be used to confirm the dead tooth). The reason it is so important to do something about a dead tooth is that dead teeth have no circulation inside them. This allows bacteria to multiply inside the dead tooth and your body’s immune system can’t stop it. The bacteria then get into the surrounding bone and can cause an abscess that further weakens your immune system. The good news is that there are treatment options for dead teeth so that this infection won’t occur. If you suspect you may have a dead tooth we can recheck your tooth and see if it is really dead and talk about your options if it is. It is dangerous to ignore a dead tooth and jeopardize your health.

Over the years, yoga has become increasingly popular and considered more mainstream, however, the idea of yoga can still be intimidating for some. When you think of yoga, what pops into your mind? For many, it’s the picture of the young and fit 20 year old doing a near perfect handstand. Although inspiring and beautiful, this very image keeps so many from trying yoga firsthand. There are a variety of benefits that yoga can offer someone, and you don’t have to bend like a pretzel to experience them. In particular, I hold ongoing, eight week class series for baby boomers and seniors that focus on healthy aging. Classes focus on yoga poses that are done lying down, standing up, and seated on a chair. Each class includes gentle stretching to help develop flexibility in the body, which is essential in maintaining range of motion as one ages. Classes emphasize slow, low impact movements to help improve strength and balance, which is beneficial in preventing unwanted falls. They also focus on calming the mind and body, with basic breathing techniques and guided meditations. This series is perfect for beginners or those new to yoga. Some suggestions for a healthy gallbladder: The gallbladder is necessary for processing dietary fats. It wasn’t included in the body by “mistake”!! We weren’t born with any parts we don’t need! This removes gallstones and cholesterol deposits from the liver and gall bladder. Minimize exposure to chemicals and drugs and sanitize the intestines. Helpful nutrients are lecithin, antioxidants (including10 g of vitamin C, lipoic acid and Microhydrin), B-vitamins, especially B6 and B12, magnesium, MSM, selenium, silymarin and zinc. L-cysteine and Kyolic aged garlic help to detoxify. Stimulate the liver with bitter teas, use half a cupful after meals or take in capsules: centaury, dandelion, devil’s claw, gentian, golden seal, and rosemary. With persisting problems, continue with the castor oil packs. Jaundice may be caused by drugs and chemicals, liver infection, gall-duct blockage and increased destruction of red blood cells (protect with high amounts of vitamin E). Try to remove the cause of the jaundice, also treat systemically with blue colour therapy.” Proper chiropractic adjustments can fix the pituitary and pineal glands, the liver and gallbladder. You must find someone who knows what they’re doing. Other remedies that may be helpful: •
