I think everything is contradictive, just like me. What I think in my mind is a little different what I do. Even if everything is different, they still can reach a balance on the society. So the book’s name” CO-OPPOSITE” means something opposite put together and create a new situation to co-exist.

Overview

This part continues from the previous one to talk the opposite issue about the past and now. This site is called “ Four Four South Village” in the Xinyi District. I choose the hills in front of the village to operate. They are used to protect people from the bomb in the war. But now, they become the green areas and the spaces under the ground aren’t in use.

The Remaining X

These studied models are studied about the type of remaining. My beginning hypothesis is the remaining space how to use. Like the photo, two spaces overlap together, and then, the overlapped part becomes the remaining that could be used to a new function. The remaining space couldn’t only be used to the interior about the storage and small room, but also be used to exterior about the corridor. With the different functions of the outside rooms, there are many types produced. And next step, it’s combined with the site spirit.

Notation Of " Connection X "

I design the new function under the ground to give the new meaning to the spaces. Remain the original form on the ground , and redefine the spaces under the ground to “ The Talking Library And The Art Park�. I want to break out the traditional way of the library to talking and chatting, let people learn the history story and make this place symbolized the open of the past and underground. There are some squares, gardens, shops and studios. The slopes and stairs connect the ground and underground. There is a situation about the past and now one co-existing and twisting together.

Section <Library-Reading Room> There are stairs to chat, read and store books. And people can communicate with others freely.

<Studio> There is enough space to discuss and study for people. The platform connected the rooms provide convenient move to people.

<Square-Garden> People can play, exercise and hold a street show. And the stairs connect the activities from ground to underground.

<Shop-Cafe'> There are a balcony to connect inside and outside and a recessed entrance to keep more space to do activities.

<Reading Room-Studio> There are some recessed platforms to plant some trees and provide a space for people to relax.

Compared to the space under the ground, there is a vibrant green area on the hill. So I open the underground by slope connected the floor. Make the dugout not to only a shelter, and be a real "residence" looking like the house behind the hill.

We can see some gaps in this unit. For example, the line gap on the top leads the beam into the passage. The hole on the wall makes the view extended. The hole on the slope roof makes the sunlight inside. And the slope in the middle opens the traffic flow that people can walk freely in.

Overview This spirit of project is from the image about the elephant wears the cloths and steps on the cars to walk. It’s a funny and interesting image. Although it’s imaginary, there is a rule operated about the disorder based on the order. Therefore, I want to use this new view to rethink the society nowadays. The system is like the diagram: first, create a grid. Then, combine some to different shapes from the different functions. In the horizontal and vertical, push away some distances to remain the usable spaces. Dig up the inside to rugged. And according to the different requirements, put in some gaps and plants to give the spaces vitality.

The site is on the Ximending. This is a plentiful place about the residential and commercial mixeduse. There are the theaters, shopping malls, parks, plazas, business buildings

and apartments. And the activities a n d p e o p l e are diversity. Therefore, the program is the recreational complex building for the adults and children using together.

Notation Of " Relation X "

The “ Physical Reaction” means something changes from the surface obviously. Then the change from the shape comes from the central idea that wants to transform the rigid reality into something different and natural. This notation is talked about the relation of different activities. So, between the spaces, there are some different space’s elements to respond the different ways of the use. For example, between the meditation room and the lounge, planting the tree is used to be a buffer zone. Putting in a flexible semi-outside space between the rooms, walking freely between the spaces, and opening the thickened walls, are used to redefine what the natural reality is.
